Peugeot 307 CC Full Road Test Report

- The Peugeot 307cc has good looks, is comfortable to drive, and for those sunny days the chance to lower the roof and enjoy the open top experience. On the downside all but the smallest adults will struggle in the back over long distances, and with the car being very heavy acceleration is sluggish. Overall a cruiser which could be so much more if it could diet and have a perkier performance.... read more

Peugeot 207 SW Full Road Test Report

1.6 - The 207 SW looks like a baby 407 SW but still manages to be spacious enough to be classed as a family car. The cabin is high quality and Peugeot's usual range of petrol and diesel engines are on offer. The diesels are disappointing when compared to the petrols. The drive is good but the 207 SW is rather expensive.... read more

Peugeot 308 SW Full Road Test Report

We tested the 1.6-litre petrol engine 308 SW in Sport trim, which starts at a price of £17,495.... read more

Peugeot 407 SW Full Road Test Report

Sport 2.2 HDi - The Peugeot 407 SW is one of the best looking estates on the road - with its angled rear and short overhang it has certainly left the boxy estate looking dated. But is it style with no substance? For the average 4.2 family the 407 SW should have what it takes as long as you don’t have any six footers to accommodate.... read more

As the second largest car manufacturer in Europe, Peugeot has come a long way from its roots in bicycle making in the late 19th Century. As the second largest car manufacturer in Europe, Peugeot has come a long way from its roots in bicycle making in the late 19th Century. The company produced its first car, a three-wheeled steam-powered vehicle, in 1889, but it was the post-war era that saw the Peugeot brand catapult in popularity. In 1974, Peugeot bought a 30% stake in Citroen and by 1975 had gained control of the company completely. The group also took over the European division of Chrysler in 1978. Peugeot model names are based on size and number (the first number indicating size, the last number indicating model number) – a Peugeot 407 therefore being bigger and newer than the Peugeot 306.

Today, Peugeot offers an extensive range of popular vehicles starting with the Peugeot 1007, a concept car, through to MPVs and vans. Its most popular models are in the mid-size range and Peugeot has gained plaudits too for the quality of its vehicles having won the accolade of European car of the year on three occasions – the most recent being in 2002 for the Peugeot 307. With an esteemed history in vehicular production, Peugeot remains a master of all trades and no matter what type of car you’re looking for the Peugeot range is sure to fulfill your needs.

Peugeot 407 SW 2007

Performance reports are generally fine... but beware.... in the first 6 months I’ve scraped the overhanging bonnet to bits and I’ve now smashed the fuel pipe and air coolant supply. What on? Speed bumps, drives, kerbs... in fact anything that sticks up slightly from the flat. It’s so low slung it hits everything.

My car’s rev start shooting up and the car slows down if I try and go up hills. The dealer want to take out the gear box and examine the clutch. They say I will be liable and not the warranty if it turn out to be wear and and tear. However I have only driven 12,000 and never had any clutch problems with previous cars.

I bought my 1007 three months ago because of the excellent fuel economy and 5 star crash rating. It is small but Tardis-like on the inside. The 2nd hand price was low (£6.2K) for a car with 15K on the clock and balance of 18 months manufacturers warranty. It is also loaded with extras; ESP, climate control, electric sunroof, automatic lights, windscreen wipers, etc. It’s slower than my last car (a Merc 220cdi), but not as slow in respect of real world motoring as some of the professional reviewers suggest. Besides, I’m most interested in getting from a-b in comfort and safety with the least possible expense, moreover it feels good driving a ’green car’. Don’t be put off by the negative reviews. If you can live with being a bit ’different’ you’ll get a lot of used car for your money.

Performance-wise up to the standard of my previous 206s if not slightly better but generally a poorly designed car from a visibility point of view. The front roof pillars can hide a car especially when you are waiting to turn right etc. The dashboard trim is an aluminium frame which reflects badly on the windscreen when driving into the sun as does anything else on the dashboard. The windscreen is too raked, this is what is the cause of the problem, similarly the demisters don’t clear the screen because of this. Below the bumper is a plastic trim which hangs too low, and comes adrift every time I try to drive up a reasonable inclined slope, particularly at the Peugeot dealer I have it serviced at!

Only had the car a month already having problems with the doors. The one door will open and then shut straight away giving you seconds to get in before it comes back on you. What a pain, love every thing else about it just think the doors are stupid!!

Peugeot 407 SW SW 136bhp Sport pack 2005

Bought used from dealer. A really nice car potentially spoiled by niggly faults. Carries five adults with luggage in comfort and is smooth and fast on the motorway. Very good steering and fairly good handling on A and B roads. Good acceleration when needed. Braking is also very very good. Smooth and refined inside with climate control audio system and trip computing all helpful. fairly economical, can do over 50 mph on a long slowish run. Even at high motorway way speeds delivers over 40mpg. Achilles heel seems to be low level niggles - warning lights for lights alert when all is ok. Reverse is great but again false warnings. Front ball joints wore at 30,000 but extended warranty took care. Roof failed and needed re sticking but warranty again came to rescue. Particulate filter needed unblocking. You wonder what will go wrong next which takes away from the other excellent aspects of this classy looking, safe, fast, versatile car.

Peugeot 207 CC 2008

I got this car in Jan 08 after trading in my convertible VW Beetle. The first 2 weeks were fine, then it rained... it leaks in through the roof where it joins the windows and has been in to the dealer on numerous occasions. According to the dealer, all convertibles leak and it is what I should expect!! Apparently this is what warranty is for. The level of service at the dealership is terrible and to top it off, the car has now developed a serious gearbox fault. I am currently in a battle with Peugeot to get my money back on the car. Does anyone else have a leaky 207cc? if so, you are more than welcome to contact me: karen.alabaster@kier.co.uk

Peugeot 206 CC 1.6 HDI Allure 2 dr cab 2006

Delighted with this car. Very nice to drive. Lovely leather seats. Fuel consumption excellent as is road tax and insurance band. Only negative thing I would say is no spare wheel as you get an aerosol canister to pump up tyre to get you to a garage. This will be fun when I get a puncture.

Peugeot 206 CC 2001

The roof on the car worked fine when purchased and continued doing so for a further two weeks and then it decided to stay stuck in the open position!! A complicated and intensely frustrating manual closing technique was followed! Forty quid just for Peugeot to look at it and a quote ( I kid you not) of £1300 to fix the roof....but the silly sales guy showed me how to open and close it manually, taking about ten seconds! So until I have a few grand spare, this is the way I have to enjoy the summer motoring! Beware!! don’t even get me started on the leaking windows......
