With its contemporary clean lines, the Jaguar XK Convertible is an instant head turner – a car that manages to look fast even when it is standing still. The Jaguar XK Convertible entered the market in 1997 under two different guises – the XK8 and the super-charged XKR. It adopted the Jaguar XK Convertible name in 2006 after being unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show the year before. Notably, the design for the Jaguar XK Convertible preceded that of the coupe, meaning there were no restrictions. The Jaguar XK Convertible is an athletic and sleek car that seems perfectly proportioned and yet completely unique.

Jaguar XK Convertible xk convertible 2006

This car is peerless. Drop dead beautiful, effortless mile eating capability, superbly comfortable, brilliantly understated controls, precision handling - it even has a useful boot. Surprisingly, it’s even good in bad weather. This is my first Jag, and on this evidence, it won’t be my last.

Jaguar XK Convertible XK8 2008

On first glance this sleek stunning Cat sits purring on the driveway, whilst its looks would not look out of place on the Milan Catwalk, and the interior leaves you feeling like you’ve had a night in the Ritz Paris. Once you hit the start button it immediately changes, it throbs like a triple root canal with no novacaine, the engine sounds like Barry White at his seductive best, unbelievably this is on tick over, Whilst your toes dance towards the accelerator, with all the anticipation of a lottery winner on there way to collect the cheque. Once on the open road, you don’t have to hoof the accelerator, to see what this car is all about, it effortlessly climbs through the gears like Chris Bonnington on steroids. The roaring engine, is definitely Steve McQueen-esque in ’Bullit’. Excitement is overtaken by the realisation of the sheer force of this car, it has more grunt than a wild hog with 12 inch nostrils. In a nutshell if you can Get one, its a must. Sheer luxury, like having Elle Mcpherson on your arm and Sharon Stone under the covers.

I have a 2005 XKR convertible, and it is the most fun I’ve ever had with my clothes on, and a virtual babe magnet. I put the top down, put the Beach Boys’ ’409’ on the CD player, push the ’sport’ button and go around humiliating Porsches for fun. The car is amazing. I’m from the USA but had to pick one of the UK countries to have a say. Sorry about the subterfuge, as the Brits say here, ’mate’, but when you have a song in your heart, you must sing it - Arland Green from England

Jaguar XK Convertible 4.2 XKR 2dr

Drive this and you won’t want to drive anything else. Some cars make heads turn, this one makes your jaw drop. Elegance and power on 4 wheels!
