Small is beautiful, especially when you're talking about the all-new Agila. Launching in 2008 the stylish New Agila is designed to make life simple - in the city or out of town. It offers enough space to comfortably seat five, as well as flexible luggage space and great storage solutions. With great new petrol and diesel engines, secure road holding and intelligent safety features the New Agila really is the perfect partner.

This is a fantastic car, I can not fault it in any way but it all depends on what people like. I like it because I go back and forth to uni and for shopping, it’s roomy. It fits in any little spaces and can carry loads of stuff. I put about £20 petrol in and don’t have worry about it for a month. It seems that it just runs on air. Very good car indeed.

I was amazed at what you get for your money with a small car these days. This is a genuine 5 seater, OK you sacrifice boot space a bit but then as a second car, this car is superb. If you are brave enough try the orange or blue interiors to give the interior a bit of a zap. Get just short of 50mpg with a light foot. It easily handles the motorway speeds. This car will not disappoint.

The first impressions of the Agila are very good, with a tall seating position and easy road viewing - and it can carry a lot of gear in the back once the back seats are let down. However, the Agila is simply awful, it looks awful, it handles like a doube decker on marmalade wheels, the interior is poor, and the engine noise at high speed would ensure no passenger gets a good rest. The Agila is very underpowered, especially if you decide to go for a model with air con and use it! You might as well climb out and walk up the hill... The power outlet is dreadful, even when your ragging the engine to try and get power out of it. A perky 1.2? Yes, in some cases, but god only knows why they didnt design it for five people in comfort with all that head room. Also, it’s the image of Suzuki’s Wagon R... which suffers the exact same problems - surely one should have looked at the other and considered their options? They even went as far as using the same design on the brand new models which Suzuki have renamed the Splash. The Agila was clearly not designed with aerodynamics in mind as its acceleration rate is disgraceful, and if the car is brought onto the motorway, the noise that the engine makes at 50mph alone is unbearable. It would be easier to handle a lion in a slaughter house then this car - if any corner is taken at any remote sort of speed, the car leans more then a dodgy referee... The steering is very heavy considering its only a very small car, which I will now elaborate on. The boot space can only be described as stupid - who the hell would design a boot that can barely hold four shopping bags wide? And as far as interior quality is concerned it’s pathetic, you can use chrome interior handles, but it doesn’t hide the fact of how bare and plain the car’s interior is. And the fact that dealers at the time charged extra for a centre rear headrest is an absolute joke! The gearstick looks like something out of a bus, and if anyone would select a red colour for the car are just looking for the Postman Pat jokes. That also goes for people who bought yellow or, as Vauxhall like to title it, Spearmint Silver, which is just turquoise. Buying a higher rank model will not help any situations as far as quality is concerned, if you buy roof rails it will sound like a pigeon quire sitting on the roof. Simply awful...

The smoothest automatic I have experienced. Very pleased with the car. I only use it as a two seater and with the rear seats flat it’s as good as a furniture van! Blind spot at rear nearside quarter. Take care when pulling out into traffic from RH side of road. Without the blind spot it’s a 5 star car.

Thank you to the people who have taken the time to write a review on the Agila. I am awaiting the arrival on my New Agila automatic. I will take into account the "Blind Spot" on the RH side when pulling out. Any more Infomation on any possible negatives? What about repair or replacement costs? - Evelyn Bear from Lancashire

ONE of the best small cars I’ve driven, yes it may look like Postman Pat’s van but who cares? I’ve had it just over 3 years; the longest ever I’ve kept any new car and I’m going to keep it for possibly another 3 years. I get almost 50mpg petrol, the reason being the versatility it has and there is loads of room even without the seats folded down. I use it to take people to hospital in my spare time and everyone says how easy it is to get in and out of this car.

A very practical little car, with that higher up mini-mpv feel, and very roomy for its size. A boxy shaped load-bay means it can carry a decent amount of stuff - better than many of its curvier supermini rivals! It’s economical to run and performance is reasonable - it pootles along quite happily at the limit on country roads and motorways. Yes, the ride could probably be bettered, but it’s fine for me. No air con - but heh that only adds to fuel consumption and what’s wrong with opening the windows! I haven’t seen the new more-rounded shape model yet - I just hope they haven’t sacrificed the roominess for looks!

I do 25,000 miles a year. I transferred from a 2.5 ltr gas guzzler when petrol went through £1 per litre. At first I was a little dubious about the switch, but after six months and 12,000 miles, I think the car is marvellous. It's the only 1 litre car that you can get a full stack of golf clubs and trolley in the boot. It has four doors and loads of room inside. I managed to get a double mattress in it to take to the charity shop! Service intervals of 20K miles, cheap insurance, cheap to run with even cheaper fuel bills (45 miles to the gallon) I save at least £50 per week! It pootles along quite happily at 70-80 mph. Once you get over the looks, it's incredible.

I love my Agila; this is my second one, good space inside, good access (Disabled wife) room for shopping scooter. Try one before you buy a great big 4x4 for the school run! "High up" stance, good eye height, pleasant to drive, styling always gives me a smile! 1.2 is better engine for longer distances; mine is hardly ever used as a town car. Only downside is 40 mpg - needs to be a diesel. 4000 for a 9000 miler from local Vauxhall Dealer.
