3 weeks after purchasing my new taxi I noticed a rip in the rubber around the driver’s door. I did not notice it on delivery but I was not looking for anything like that. Peugeot say it is down to wear and tear after 3 weeks. The fuel gauge does not work properly, this is down to a 50 litre tank replacing the 60 litre tank. The people who did the conversion for Cab Direct say they don’t know how to rectify the problem. The springs had to be replaced as it was grounding out. Now the rear passenger window catch has dropped to bits, the metal pin has fallen off. There had been an on and off rattle for the last 4 days but me and my mate could not locate it. Now that the pin has dropped off the rattle has stopped, pity the window is hanging loose now, obviously it had been working - it’s way loose? Going to the local Peugeot dealer tomorrow, wonder what sh*te he comes out with this time? Taxi has just under 21000 miles on the clock and is 4 months old. I can’t see this Peugeot outlasting our last taxi, a Fiat Doblo which had 270,000 on when we traded it in to Cab Direct.

I have just got a WAV Tepee from constables. Surprise surprise my fuel gauge doesn’t work. I was parked at the supermarket yesterday and a guy knocked on my window to ask if I was having problems with my fuel gauge as his doesn’t work either. This is obviously a problem that has been around for some time, it should be sorted - Colin Bennett from Cheshire
I’ve just bought a WAV Tepee from Cab Direct. My fuel gauge works just fine. I have had no real problems with the car thus far, although it did throw a hissy fit last weekend when the lights and wipers worked on their own! I couldn’t even start it! I got a spare key and it all started working fine again! I average 46mpg and find it drives well for what is essentially a van with windows! I would say that Cab Direct need to up their game when it comes to customer care and satisfaction. One problem that winds me up is the air intake in the engine bay. It rattles like a pig! I tightened the bolt but after a week, it comes loose again. I have to admit that the interior plastics could be better quality, but like I said, it’s basically a van with windows! Also the doors do come in with a crash!! Maybe some kind of damping system on the door restraint would help! The WAV conversion is earning its keep and I have no issues to report with it. Some have complained that the early conversions included re-routing the brake lines etc and this brought its own problems, including brake failure (!) and the floor pan being weakened. Again, I’ve not had it long enough to notice too many issues. I do wish that the 12v ciggy lighter was permanently live and the radio also. I find that my dab adapter is hardly getting used, due to all the messing around with no permanent live! All my passengers have commented on how comfortable the car is, and how much leg room is available in the rear seats. My wheelchair fares like the way you are not stuck down the back, as in a minibus conversion! Overall, not a bad little car, but could be better in some areas just to make it a much more pleasant place to be for a cabbie! - Chris Hammond from Sussex

This has been converted to a WAV. Had this car a week done 150 miles, does drive very nice. Reverse gear judders like mad, thought this could be down to my driving style as I am used to driving vans. But no matter how I approach the reverse gear there is no change, seems to get worse the more time I am out in it. As this affects 1st gear, and notice a slight judder on the drive. Also noticing a squeaky suspension. I am thinking that I should contact the dealer to check this out this week.

Has your problem been sorted by the dealer on your car? We have experienced problems similar to yourself with first gear jumping out of gear but also we have had braking problems with both hand and foot brakes - Al S from England
