As a follow-up to the 206 CC, the Peugeot 207 CC has a hard act to follow but is setting new standards in the coupe cabriolet sector. Its front grille is instantly striking and with a fully automatic retractable roof you’re sure to earn envious glances driving the Peugeot 207 CC on the open road. The interior matches the exterior’s style with substance, while there are a range of engines to suit all tastes whether you want economy (the HDi 110 diesel) or real turbo power (the THP 150). Despite the 207 CC’s performance there’s safety too including active roll bars and five air bags.

I bought my car 2 years ago, from the first four weeks of me having it the depollution light keeps coming on and engine mangement light comes on then loses power when driving. I thought it was just my car until reading on here that other people have the same problem. I have lost count how many times its been in the garage, this car is a total nightmare going to ring trading standards tomorrow.

Mine’s been in garage for depollution fault 5 times since bought from new. The garage have renewed the sensors 4 times and renewed half of the electrical harness the 5th time. I am selling the car because the warranty runs out this year. The garage said I wasn’t doing enough miles. I only do under 10,000 a year. I had the car serviced because they then said it was that but it still happened. There is obviously a problem with other people’s judging by the other posts I have read but the garage said they had not heard of this fault before. I wouldn’t buy another Peuguot again!

Okay, why did I give the car a 4 star rating, because in the the summer it’s a veeeeeery cool car. Now it’s January, I have to keep my top on (btw it’s not leaking). BUT.... I was really compelled to give it a three. For one I did buy it second hand with 15000KM on the clock (about 10000 miles), and from day one I had the feeling that it lacked power in the lower RPM range. I drove diesel for years before this one, so I thought that it could be an engine type thing, because from 3000 RPM up it flies. AND NOW COMES MY REAL PROBLEM!!! Yesterday I got the Pollution Error that everyone is talking about. I did checkout some other sites in Dutch, and they say it’s just a thing when you drive only short distances, and that you have to drive the pollution out by driving a very long distance and back. Well, the pollution error came right after I had driven 270KM (135KM to and fro), I shut down my car for 5 minutes, switched it on again, and there it was. I called my dealer, because my car is still on warranty, and the dealer said "walk it off. If it’s still there after a week we’ll make an appointment", but if I hear y’all complaining like this.... I DON’T WANNA DIE!!! WHEN I’M DRIVING 150 KM/h (~100MPH) !!!!!!!!

Depollution warning light just come on, looks like im in for fun. 207 GTI 18,000 miles, only had since March 08. Can anyone advise me?

57 model 16000 miles. Exact same problem - environment light coming on. New full engine fitted by garage. No explanation yet given by garage for original problem. The car was driven for 30 miles and the environment light came back on, loss of power. The car is now back in garage. The garage thinks it might be a computer problem. The garage has also refused to give new warranty on the new engine - Peter Moore from England

Currently annoyed because the engine kept cutting out about 10-15 times in the first 3 weeks, usually when the engine is coldish, and always when the clutch is depressed on approach to a junction or traffic lights. Had its 1-month service. Told the Peugeot garage guys at the dealership. They couldn’t replicate the fault. Said they reset the software. However, it’s happening again two days later!! Apart from it being a mild inconvenience and embarrassing because it looks like I’m stalling all the time, twice it’s been downright dangerous as I’ve switched from 4th gear to second to join a road (left turn) but because the engine cut out, the powersteering disappeared and locked, as did the break, so I was unable to change course or speed and proceeded to drift powerlessly into a busy road........ Not good. Thank god no one crashed into the side of me at 60mph!! As a precaution now, i’m having to check the battery light EVERY TIME I want to change gear on approach to a roundabout/junction because I can’t risk pulling out in front of someone and the engine cutting out!!! Annoyed!!!! The garage guys just said "Customer to moniter" the situation. I’m now logging every time this happens and the exact circumstances. Will be requesting a new car if this is still happening in a month. :(

I too am having this problem.... bought a brand new 207 Verve at the end of October 2009 and it has stalled on me probably about 4 times, always at night when I’m pulling onto my driveway. The worrying thing is the lights go out and all power goes and if this was to happen on a main road it could potentially be fatal! At first I thought it was my driving but on looking on the internet it seems that all Peugeots are having this problem...scary! I have just called Peugeot who say that it could be that I was in the wrong gear i.e. in 2nd and as it’s all computerised the car might not have liked this gear...hhhhmmmm going to keep an eye on the situation, note everytime this happens and what gear I’m in and then take it into the garage to be looked at. Not happy! - Jo from Cambridgeshire

You can get your money back your 207CC if you can prove that you have given the dealer ’reasonable chance to rectify the problem’. I did this, got back every penny that I paid for the car 7 months previously. I have since gone back to VW and never looked back! But beware! It’s not easy and you will have a fight on your hands...

I have been experiencing the same problem with my 207. I am just driving along and engine totally cuts out and power steering is lost. VERY DANGEROUS, have just been lucky that no cars have been behind me as would have caused a serious accident. Car has been back to Peugeot approx 5/6 times in 2 weeks and new software has been downloaded, fuel lines changed, fuel filter changed etc etc but still problem persists. After reading numerous posts on various websites about this problem beginning to wonder if Peugeot need to consider a recall before someone is seriously hurt...

I bought this car when it was 11 months old with 4600 miles on the clock, I have the THP150 and it absolutely flies, beautiful to drive and my 18 year old daughter loves it. Quite good on fuel consumption, first service was £47. It has all the bells and whistles. So far I cannot fault it, never had a pug before but if this car keeps up the great performance then I would buy again.

It has gone to the dealer today for its first service and have just had a call from them to say it needs another tyre and now needs new brakes and discs. Also, this car is not what I thought it was going to be. One year old and I have already payed out over £700. What a let down. Do not buy this car. I hope to get shot of it today. NEVER, EVER will I buy a Peugeot 207 CC or any other Peugeot. We have a Dodge; we have had it for three years - my god it has not cost us £200 in ththat time - not like that Peugeot. DO NOT BUY IT YOU WILL REGRET IT - WHAT A LET DOWN. IF THERE IS ANY JUSTICE IN THIS WORLD THIS CAR WILL BE TAKEN OFF THE ROAD.

Nice car .... but.... in and out of main dealership with de pollution fault and lack of power. Was interested in getting 308CC 1.6THP150 but wouldn’t touch with a barge pole at the moment.

Further to my last report our 207CC has been back to the main dealer twice more. The misfire/lack of aceleration was finally sorted by replacing the cam follower and chain. No sooner had it back than an ESP fault appeared. Back for new ABS brake parts to be fitted. This weekend the engine was started from cold and the electric fan came on immediately together with the depollution warning light. Because I thought it had overheated I had it recovered to the main dealer on the back of a breakdown truck. My wife needs a car for work but they had no loan cars available and told me there is no liability to provide a car under the warranty. It was suggested I should hire a car! I have bought many new cars of different makes, including four Peugeots, over the years but this 207CC is by far the most troublesome car I have ever owned. Apart from the inconvenience this 2 year old car has cost Peugeot themselves warranty costs in 4 figures - Graham Mitson from Surrey

I got my 207cc Sept 2007 after swapping my 206cc for this new updated shape. Couldn’t wait to get it after my 206cc with its leaky roof. At first I loved my NEW 207cc cruising around with the top down. Then one morning I’m heading to work and it just cuts out, power steering turns off and I’m heading toward a bus stop, there I am with a gang full of people waiting for the bus, in my brand new 207cc with its brand new number plates and its broken down, how embarrassed was I!!! Then if that’s not bad enough the bus came, couldn’t stop in the bus stop because I was in the way. Everyone had to walk out in front of me so they could get on the bus. What funny looks I was getting. I took it back to Peugeot, they kept it for a day, drove round in it, hooked it up to their computer and said there was nothing wrong with it. After taking it back several times, I was told its the way I drive it. Whatever!!!! I said the same after my 206 but I tell you now, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PEUGEOT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve nearly had it 2 yeard now and its still cutting out. Biggest pile of c**p ever!!!!

Got the car Sept. 2007. Totally peed off with this car, nothing but trouble with it from the start!! Depollution System Faulty, Brake Fault, and now get this today (1/4/09) no joke the starter motor (which by the way should be approx 10 years down the line) has gone/burnt out. BUT GUESS WHAT ’that’s ok it’s still under warranty’. Well what is going to happen when it is out of warranty in another 18 months. Phoning trading standards tomorrow to see where I stand about getting it replaced or having my money refunded by PEUGEOT. If anyone can help on how to go about this please please contact me on k.e.guest@live.com

I am gobsmacked to see all these negative reports. I only bought my 207 CC last Thursday and today I have had a problem with the depollution system and also the brakes. The car lost power and I was quite concerned about continuing to drive the car, which I had to, to get home. I feel rather down now. Will speak to the garage tomorrow and am printing all these reports off to show them. Thanks.

Same problem as everyone else - depollution light comes on, car loses power. Garage ’fixed’ it, and it is fine for a few days, then - depollution light comes on, car loses power. When the car goes, it is lovely, but am getting fed up with it now.

Having read the below comments, we have had bother with our car also. Agree it is a lovely car when running. OK, it is a great car to drive, sturdy, quiet and no leaks!! However, within weeks of getting it, it stalled whilst driving for no reason, engine management system came on and depollution warning also showed up. Obviously when it cut out the power steering went - very dangerous. Back to dealer, sorted and the fault returned another two times in the next 6 months; eventually requiring a brand new engine!! To date the car has only done 2000 miles, but only because it travels locally and after 10 months with new engine the same problem has just happened again tonight. Wife hates driving it now and has no confidence. Dealership won’t admit to knowing about similar problems and just keep blanking us as the car is now 18 months old. Any other similar problems - or any advice on how to deal with it?

Generally speaking I am happy with my 207CC but there is a build-up of condensation/water in the front headlight unit. I went to the Dealer who suggested that it was malicious damage to the unit that has caused the problem. I am reluctant to accept this as there is no other sign of damage to the side of the car. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I bought my first Peugeot in 2004. I just love driving it and get admiring looks. It is Flamenco Red with black leather interior. Never had any problems with this beautiful car. Just so smooth. Have done nearly 15000 miles now, so in order not to lose too much money am going to change it for a new Neysha blue. Can’t wait. Would not have any other car, its so stylish.

I have got the 1.6 engine. Every morning when starting the car from cold it makes noise like starter motor stays engaged, took it to dealer and they said this is normal for 207cc 1.6. Has anyone else had this problem... and it keeps stalling when dip clutch and cruise to traffic lights - very dangerous.

I got this car in Jan 08 after trading in my convertible VW Beetle. The first 2 weeks were fine, then it rained... it leaks in through the roof where it joins the windows and has been in to the dealer on numerous occasions. According to the dealer, all convertibles leak and it is what I should expect!! Apparently this is what warranty is for. The level of service at the dealership is terrible and to top it off, the car has now developed a serious gearbox fault. I am currently in a battle with Peugeot to get my money back on the car. Does anyone else have a leaky 207cc? if so, you are more than welcome to contact me: karen.alabaster@kier.co.uk

Great car, can’t knock it AT ALL! Comfortable on long journeys, plenty of power, handles fantastic, and wow... when the roof’s down and the sun shining it’s heaven I got an onyx black Peugeot 207cc THP 150 GT, from brand new, 2 miles on clock. I got it in December 2007 and it’s now June 2008, I’ve done just over 3,000 miles and I can’t say I have any dislikes, it’s a great runner, sooooo smooth, pretty good on fuel too; if you don’t push it to hard. It’s a great cruiser, I loves it to bits.

Fabulous car until the day when it started to show that the Depollution system was faulty. Went to a mechanic but shortly afterwards it started to turn off, make strange sounds while on and continued to show the Depollution system fault. Went to mechanic again, but same thing all over again.

I am writing this report from Australia where for the last 4 months I have been madly in love with my cab 207.......... that was until today ...... why it happened and how it happened remains to be seen.....but in medium traffic when I had to stop ...depressing the clutch in the arm that is situated at the back of the clutch pedal broke ..it is no bigger than a pen thus the clutch would not engage and then trying to push the brake which also went straight to the floor..and my little baby had a mind of its own and continued to do as it liked .... thanking our lucky stars we were only going 20kms an hour and it crunchingly ran into 307 ... true ...... so please all you other owners out there please get your dealer to check this out in your cars........so miss leo and cant wait until it gets out of hospital..... Cath and Andy ..... binixica@hotmail com if you have had anything similar happen ...
