The Nissan Terrano SUV (1993-2006) is a family friendly vehicle with towing and off-road capability meaning it is equally suited to urban and country life. A fraction of the cost of its rivals the Terrano, however, makes no compromise on ability or comfort.

Nissan Terrano II 2.7 TD 2000

4 star review

Test drove one last week and am buying at the weekend. Full leather interior with heated seats, air con and sunroof, CD changer so should be comfy on long journeys. Seemingly very reliable (judging by extensive web research) and capable of pulling heavy loads (which is my main requirement). Only downsides I can see are quite serious body roll in corners (feels like a very high centre of gravity so won’t be high speed cornering!), the insurance group (14D), high tax bracket and poor fuel economy (31 mpg) but maybe its unfair to expect low tax and fuel economy from a 2.7 TD of this age.

Yes mine was great, pulling things out of trouble was just like pulling a babys tooth out. Only did a one off, off roading. I’ve seen landrovers and Rangerovers get stuck just like any other 4x4, they all can get into difficulties but these machine will out run a discovery any time with out over heating.

Nissan Terrano II 2001

4 star review

I have a Nissan Terrano II, year of manufacture 2001, from Spain. I must emphasize it is a great car no regrets investing in this power machine! I call it the Bundu basher! I have tried it off road, great off road capabilities!! The cotton soils of Maasai Mara, the sands of North Eastern Province and the red soils of Embu and Meru! Parts however are expensive and unavailable in Kenya. Someone do something. Secondly the chasis is weak, my Bundu basher was an accident salvage! The left side chasis suffered a bend, which I must say was not well straightened! The machine is doing well with this.

I am amazed that the info re replacement sills for the short or long versions of this vehicle, which on the whole is an excellent vehicle but on looking at loads of them lately (as my son needs one) ALL have rotten sections below the door pillar. It seems like you have to be the secret service to try to find replacement sill panels for these cars on the NET. When we were young I welded loads of different sills onto vehicles that had this regularly found problem. I’m sure someone would become a millionare in no time if they stocked these panels and made them well advertised. What is wrong with Nissan anyhow? The Terrano is a very quality car but this rotting could be avoided so is it built into a limited obsolecense policy. The engines & boxes do up to 500,000 miles I’m told by a reliable source. A green taxi driver (Nissan engine)told me he had 300,250 oon the clock & still going!!

I’m looking for 2 sill’s aswell for a two door so far no sill’s. If you find someone with them please tell me - Cyril Strain from County Armagh

My wife’s Nissan diesel 4x4 2.7 Terrano 11 P reg rear wheels spin, even on flat grass, wet or not and it is very embarrasing as well as scarey when pulling a horse trailer. Brilliant on road but off road! The 4x4 works so what is the problem? - Harry Jones from Devon

Nissan Terrano S+ 2005

3 star review

This is my second Terrano, the first being a 1998 SE Touring. This car, although being a lower trim level, has everything the older SE Touring did except the roof bars and sunroof. Smoother and quieter, with the same old rattles it has plenty of pulling power for towing. A genuine high up drive it is excellent on the open fields I have to use it on and equally comfortable on the streets. Not the most modern feel but a genuine tough vehicle that does everything I want it to do. Excellent value for money, even though I think I paid a little more than I should have. Two annoying rattles. The centre arm rest/stowage box lid seems loose and of course, the exhaust. Exactly the same on this one as the other one. Overall? Great if you take it for what it is. An excellent value tough old bird!

I have just tried selling my 2005 Terrano 2.7 td, high spec, FSH, good condition and am amazed at how little they are worth, I’ve had no interest at a mere £2,500. It is a much better drive than most 4x4 comparatives, it’s hard to fault and seems not to be worth the price of an old worn out landy. Crackers! - Paul Anderson from Caithness

Nissan Terrano 3.0 SVE 2002

5 star review

Just bought my Terrano 3.0 SVE. Absolute bargain. Massive towing capabilities. Full leather, 7 seats. Love it! Bad points: wind noise; power steering pump a bit noisy as well. It will out-pull Disco’s, Trooper’s and Shogun’s. Top car for little money. This car cost me £3200 @ 50k miles - full service history. Top that!?

Good on fuel consumption considering its a 4x4. Reliable too. Has all the extras you could want. Well thought out.
