The Nissan Patrol comes with a impressive CV including Dakar Rally victories yet can boast the level of comfort usually reserved for executive estate cars. Able to eat up the toughest terrain the Patrol is equally at home on the road and offers the civilised choice in 4x4.

Nissan Patrol SVE 2006

5 star review

I have owned a Patrol in Antigua while selling land, it was the only car that could cope with the tough off road conditions after days of rain particularly on the 1:2 muddy slopes I had to climb. When I returned to the UK I purchased a new SVE Patrol and have never been dissapointed since. It has been a great car to own and has always started with no major mechanical issues except: front seat has broken 3 times (under seat height adjustment brackets), fuel pump blocked, but all issues were quickly dealt with by Nissan (KJM Reading) under warranty. It’s a shame the Patrol is now not a UK option as my vehicle now needs to be traded in and I dont really like the new Pathfinder. I contacted Nissan UK this week who emailed me a short one line response saying the Patrol was no longer an option, but showed now interest in retaining my business or suggesting another model. I have looked at the new L200 and will probably become a Mitsubishi driver soon. I will miss the Patrol, it is definitely the King of all 4x4’s and it’s really great when driving in front or behind of any other 4x4 ’cos their drivers know it too!

Nissan Patrol 4.5 Petrol V8 2002

5 star review

I keep my 2002 Patrol in the low veld of S. Africa and have done 169,000 kilometres of trouble free game viewing / roof top camping. My Patrol is set up with twin fuel tanks and duel cooling systems. UK reviews are all based on motorways and school runs whereas the Patrol is designed as an off road tank that will get you home when the road runs out. I pull Discoveries and Range Rovers out of riverbeds when their electric brains cook after getting wet. Why place a computer under the drivers seat? In Africa the refer to the Landy camp as Sollyhulls revenge on the earth! I will buy another Partol or the Toyota Model 70 which is still designed for Australia and Africa hard terrain. All in all a great vehicle. Why do you think the UN use them?

Can’t agree more; our family has recently (a year) returned to the UK after 6 years in Perth WA, had a 01 GU Patrol 3L TD over our time there. These are indestructible vehicles, built for REAL off-road activity. Disco (any)/X5/Pajero/Jeep need not apply when the going gets proper tough! Arguably tougher than the Toyota trooper carrier - Trev Mortimer from Gloucestershire

Nissan Patrol sve 2006

4 star review

Had the car 4 months, tows my 18ft caravan with ease, loads of space and great comfort , a bit noisy when pushed hard but once up to cruising speed its fine. 26/29 mpg, just does what it says on the box - great car.

Nissan Patrol 3.0 TD Adventura 5dr

3 star review

I recently test drove the Adventura and whilst it intially ticked all the boxes I was looking for; space, comfort, off road capabilities, and has an impressive towing capability it feels sloppy to drive and is extremely noisy. On top of this the fuel economy is awful compared to other 4x4’s out there. A real shame as this could be a great car but too many things let it down.

You’re missing the point here, it’s not a car and that’s why it’s so good at what it’s designed for to be a go anywhere over nearly any terrain vehicle. If you want a car buy an X5/XC90/M Class they ARE cars. No offence but I’m fed up with people complaining that a vehicle designed mainly for one purpose is crap at something else - Paul Mullan from Scotland
