If you’re looking for real versatility then the Jaguar X-Type Estate has all the space, luxury performance and refinement you need. The original X-Type was introduced in 2001, but the Jaguar X-Type Estate didn’t enter the market until 2004. At that point, the X-Type underwent a makeover and the estate version reaped instant rewards with elegance and simplicity. Despite having a roomy tailgate and being one of the most practical models in the Jaguar range, the Jaguar X-Type Estate is still powerful and a pleasure to drive. It may be the best of both worlds – cutting out the drudgery of day-to-day motoring.

Jaguar X-Type Estate 2.5 AWD 2006

I was surprised at how refined the car sounds and how well it drives. It’s extremely smooth and easily powerful enough for motorway driving. It is spacious enough for me which is also a surprise as I am 6’ 7" and 18 stone and very comfortable to drive. One tiny niggle, turning on the heated rear windscreen knocks out radio reception somewhat, but overall an excellent car.

Jaguar X-Type Estate 2.0D S 5dr

It’s a Jag so you know it’s going to be good. Ticks all the boxes for space, performance and comes generously equipped. The driving position however could be better designed and you do feel this on long journeys but overall a very refined car.
