Fiat Scudo Window Van 2011

5 star review

I currently have a Fiat Scudo. I have been amazed at how well the van drives. The handling is excellent and it’s so quick. I have always been a fan of the commercial vans from Fiat but especially the Scudo Van as fuel efficiency is great and let’s be honest it looks fantastic.

Bought the car with 8000 miles in Wales 3 years ago. Warranty problems sorted out very efficently by the Fiat garage in Tipperary (Ryan Motor Power). The only thing is, it does tend to wear out the rear tyres a bit prematurely. Since my last 2 multipla cars, which were great cars, the scudo feels very steady and safe with either 2 or 8 passangers on board. I have to say I would buy another one. Economy is good and 40000 miles on it’s still on the same front brake pads.Tyres on the rear last about 12000 miles.

I purchased a long wheel base Fiat Scudo taxi with 12000 miles almost a year ago and have had nothing but problem after problem. I have already had to replace the anti roll bar and both front ball joints not to mention two sets of tyres for the front and one set for the back and numerous amount of bulbs. I am not hard on my Scudo as I use it for it for my business. At this moment it is now back in the hands of Fiat yet again waiting for a new fly wheel to be replaced, which due to some modification that the dealers say they knew nothing about, I have now been off the road for almost a week. Take my advice.......STAY WELL CLEAR OF THIS MODEL!!

Had my 08 Fiat Scudo over a year now and do a lot of mileage with it have no complaints at all, great space in back, fuel economy very good, very little road noise, lovely to drive, only had to change one tyre so far and front bushings but no problems to report. It’s still on the same brakes from new, but will change these before Xmas.

I have had my new 2008 combi for just 2 years. 2 new tyres (replaced with Pirellis). I have had 2 new anti-roll bars and the van is knocking again at 35,000 miles. This is not good enough, it gets only light private use, Fiat says it is not covered by third year dealer warranty. A nice van but I would not have purchased it if I had known about its inherant faults - Bill Brown from Yorkshire

Hi! My van also wears tyres on the back very fast, 15000 miles tyre is slaughtered. I have checked with the main dealer and they say it’s the way the van is loaded, what a load of cobblers, never had a problem like this with VW or Transits. Fiat’s customers after care is not good.

I have replaced original tyres with new Perelli’s just 7500 miles ago. I now find that the rear tyres outer edge has worn and become illegal, so I’m having to replace them. Having sent the tyres away for inspection and told it is not a tyre fault I have gone onto having the wheel alignment checked. Fronts slightly out, no adjustment on rear but are within parameters. I’m now swapping to another make of tyre as £400+ for four is over the top when two don’t make 10,000 miles. Has anyone else suffered this problem?

Sounds like the same problem I have had with my Scudo 57 Plate. I have had it 2 years and done 80.000 miles. The rear tyre wear is terrible, they get flat spots on after about 5000 miles and start to shake the van terribly. I had the rear axle replaced under warrenty but its still the same. I hate the van. I also have a 2004 Plate scudo (220.000 miles ) and I love it. I will never buy another though. - Gary Stott from Yorkshire

We run an outdoors company, went out shopping for a Torneo and came home with the Scudo. Larger boot space, more headroom, we have hired every minibus on the market and this beats them all!! Very fuel efficient, holds road like a car, no problems, done 50k trouble free miles, only just replaced the original tyres, brakes still 50% at last service. Would buy another compared to any other on the market of this size.

We run a Scudo minibus. It’s had a new clutch, 3 sets of tyres, new pads, 3 EGR valves, 4 or 5 head light bulbs, front ball joint. To change a head light bulb is near impossible - drivers side has to be done at dealership. We also run 3 12-seater Transits and these seem superior to the Scudo for reliability. We would never buy Fiat again, the EGR problems just leaves the Scudo in limp mode.

I completely agree about the light bulbs! I have a Scudo taxi and not only do the bulbs fail more often than would seem normal but even with my small hands they are impossible to replace!!! The only way is to take the vehicle to the garage and leave it with them to sort out! - Robert Nelson from Lancashire

I have owned one now for a year have covered 20000 miles. I had a lot of problems with the new Scudo - I drive wheelchairs about for a living so there is no speed involved. I’m now on my third set of brake pads in the front, 2nd in the back. The steering rack has to be replaced plus I’ve had fuel problems. If I could get out of the van not owing a lot I would but the resalable value on these vans is very poor.
