There is nothing to compare the new Citroën C4 Coupe to - it stands alone in its class when it comes to style, and it’s ahead of the pack when it comes to technology. And it’s roomy, comfortable and packed with great features to keep you safe, relaxed and fully equipped for today’s driving conditions.
Citroen C4 Coupe consumer reviews by year of make: 2004 2005 2006
VTS 1.6i THP - Citroen’s C4 has forged quite a reputation for itself since its launch in 2004, due in part to its the dancing Transformer TV advertising and its four (and counting) World Rally Championship titles. A ‘new look’ C4 has just been introduced which features a number of changes and improvements. [...]

Looks amazing, drives great. Important that you get oil changed every year I think so that the turbo is protected. Amazing amount of torque. Make sure fuel filter is changed at 50,000 else you get the dreaded "de-pollution system faulty" error due to low fuel pressure plus avoid supermarket diesel, no this isn’t a myth. I had the clutch slip in 5th and 6th after caning it on a motorway. Apparently DMF on these cars and many more are designed to do this to save ripping the spring and wrecking the clutch. It’s gone now (done the handbrake on in 4th trying to pull away test and it stalls after the back went down). Great JBL sound system with boot speaker. It does have a fault with the directional xenons due to sensor fault under chassis but I have simply de-selected this option in drivers aid on options on steering wheel. Very pleased with this car. When polished, it is a great looking car

A good car over all, but I had problem with boot not opening and ended up spending a fortune on it only to be told it was just a simple wire fault! Thank you citroen.

I bought mine second hand with 52,000 on the clock. I’ve done almost 10,000 since owning it and experienced no problems with it. It’s nice to drive, good round bends, loads of space inside and I love playing with the cruise control. Great car so far.

Firstly, I must say that I love the car; the look, the innovative dashboard, the fixed steering wheel hub. There have been several problems though. I bought it SH in 2007 with a ’lifetime’ warranty from the now defunct Sunwin garages. The glove compartment door is a disaster. It has broken (the handle that is) twice so far. this time, out of any warranty, it is jammed shut. The rear hatch stopped opening - apparently a wiring harness failure which cost £600 and was not covered by the warranty. The central hubcaps that cover the locking wheel nuts have no locks themselves - so some enterprising thieves have have prised them off. With a bit more attention to detail and some reliability issues addressed, this could be an excellent car and could go a long way to improving French car makers’ reputations.

I have owned a number of cars and apart from one, which will remain nameless; this is the only car that (my husband says) has shut me up. It looks beautiful, I have a metallic black, it is fuel efficient, comfortable, cheap insurance and drives like a dream, it handles very well and feels almost like it’s hugging the road. The centre of the steering wheel not moving did make me feel a wee bit motion sick to start but now I love the fact that your buttons are always in the same place. This is a car that you get a lot for your money and I for one haven’t regretted spending one penny of it.

Bought new Sept 2006 on looks and price. Minor early troubles, rattles from doors, CD player misbehaving, fixed under warranty. 2 recalls. At 75000 miles put into dealer to investigate minor noise in drivetrain. Resulted in fitting new dual mass flywheel, new clutch, new bearings in gearbox. The car was off the road for six weeks and the bill was £1700, paid by the extended warranty. The work done made no improvement at all. Twelve days later the car died and the diagnosis was fuel pump failure. The bill this time was nearly £1200 paid by myself since the extended warranty had not been renewed. Whilst in the garage the engine management unit was damaged and the garage additionally replaced that FOC. The car was off the road 25 days this time. This time it ran for three weeks then had to go back in to replace a cracked heat exchanger. At 77,000miles its going ok now though, and I’ve hardly bought any fuel this year. A very comfortable, economical, good looking car, great pity about the reliability.

I bought my car new in 2006, after 2 days the boot wouldn’t open so it went back to the garage to have a new part fitted, the air conditioning has failed twice and also the anti-pollution light has come on resulting in a visit to the garage again. Now the boot won’t open again, had a mechanic friend check it out and he says there is no problem with the motor or the fuses, so it looks like its back to the garage again. Any ideas anyone?

I own the C4 VTR Coupe 16i 16v. I think the coupe is one of the best looking cars on the road; it has bags of power and is great on fuel, the car is packed with cool stuff - a real leap forward from most cars. The only downside I have with the car is that some of the plastics look a bit cheap and the material on the door cards is bobbling like an old jumper... I don’t understand why this car is not on most drives in the UK... Great security and safety ratings which mean cheap insurance. You can not go wrong with this car. One word... EXCELLENT! Well done Citroen for trying something new.

Fantastic car, comfortable, ultra reliable with 140k on the clock. Not one single issue with it, I love it. 1.4 is a bit underpowered but is better than my last 02 reg Almera which was an awful, awful car.

I bought my C4 1.6Hdi VTR plus on a 55 plate on 01/08/08. I’ve had it back to the dealer 3 times in 3 weeks. The first fault was a rattling on the steering wheel when travelling at 70mph and when breaking. This was rectified by a change of front discs and swapping and balancing the front and back wheels. The latest problem is the glove box. This has jammed shut and the handle has subsequently snapped. This is going in next week so i am hoping for a change with no cost to me. Apart from those small problems the car is packed with great technology that could not be matched with any other car for the 7k i paid for it. The suspension is a bit tight and small pot holes do feel a lot bigger than they actually are but all in all a great car (touch wood).
