The Audi A6 Saloon offers its driver power, performance and handling combined with safety and environmental responsibility packaged in unrivalled beauty. The Audi A6 Saloon delivers exhilarating performance and cosseting luxury in one car.

2.0 TDI - The 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine in the Audi A6 is the core model of this executive range and accounts for around 75% of all sales in the UK. This is the key model for fleet drivers, but private buyers will also be attracted to the new A6 with the small diesel thanks to its generous power and econom [...]

I purchased the car October 2010 and havecovered 13,000 miles without a hitch, the car now has 72k on the clock. The S-line spec is excellent and gives the car a real sporting pedigree for such a large hulk, cornering and grip are excellent. I feel that the 2.7 tdi engine is perhaps ideal for the car as it is unbelievably economical with awsome performance. I get 56 MPG on my London trips! Have just returned from Saint-Tropez and after driving the 2,000 mile round trip I cannot praise the car enough. The boot is enormous and swallowed four suitcases and two overnight bags whilst the interior also swallowed five occupants and the car didn’t even sit down at the rear. Overall economy on the journey was 46 MPG which is astounding. Well done Audi.

Previous car was Mercedes E-Class 3.2CDI It was an excellent car but went rusty (as did my S-Class previously) This AudI seems well made but feels cramped inside compared to the Merc. Suspension is hard over rough surfaces but it is the SE version with stiffer springs and dampers etc. Inside there are few storage places to keep maps, books, sweets, glasses etc. The Sat Nav and MMI system are confusing to say the least, the salesman told me that some people never work out how to programme it and just give up. The instrument display is a dazzling red affair even with the brightness turned down to minimum setting, much too bright for me. I bought this car because a bodyshop manager told me that Mercedes cars are terrible for rust and after about 5 years rust will be present on most panels, but he said they NEVER see a rusty Audi. So although I believe the E-Class is a far superior car to drive and ride in I shall probably stick with Audi for its build quality.

Mixed feelings about the car. Coming from a string of 5-series’s I have found the accommodation to be better in the Audi however the ride is definitely harsher than in the BMW’s. The biggest gripe is with various warning lights. Been through half a dozen bulb out warnings, an intermittantly working fuel gauge and presently an emmissions warning light. Also the clutch is just about worn out (30k) so pretty disappointed with the Audi experience so far. Will probably not be buying another Audi as a result.

Only had car 6 wks, but what a car. The engine is strong, seats v.comfortable, sat nav very accurate and easy to use. Visibility good. The only poor thing is suspension, it’s stiff and you feel all little ruts etc. I have 19" wheels so they don’t help, but are needed to fit the cars size and looks. MPG according to the computer is 38/39mpg urban driving, but 29/30mpg using good old maths, i.e. what I put in against mileage; not very good, funny that the car tells you it better than it is! My old Omega was spot on to the drop, still it is a 3ltr & shifts like s**t off a shovel so it’s worth it. BEST CAR I’VE EVER OWNED and I’ve had a few! P.S. Audi Newcastle (not Tyneside) great service, very helpful. Other items; Bose surround great, v loud, NO distortion! Bluetooth good, parties on other end cannot tell. Auto box a must.

I have had 6 Audi’s - A3, A4 and now an A6. All of these cars are simply the best all round cars money can buy. I have my current A6 a 3.0 TDI Quattro S Line. It has everyting one could need for normal use including a big boot to store my 5 month old son’s kit. The car is quiet, powerful, steering a little vague but you get used to it, comfortable in s Line trim, great sat nav, easy controls all round and it goes like stink when you put your footdown. Quattro is simply brilliant and if you get snow like we did this year, and dont want to be seen in a Chelsea Tractor then you must have Audi Q power.

I bought my car with 27,000 on the clock and out of warenty. At 30,000 miles the egr valve went, then both rear brake wire harnesses had to be replaced. At 50,000 miles the fly wheel went. I have spent more money in one year than I have spent on my last Audi A6 in 5 years and that has 270.000 on it. My original A6 still drives as good as the new one and the fly wheel didn’t need to be replaced until 200,000 miles.

It’s got 100k on now ! It’s still a great car! Too good some times as you are going faster than you think!! at 70 on the motorway it feels like you are stopped, not good for the concentration!! lol room for every thing ! and it stops so well to! your eyes just about pop out! Why can’t others put good brakes on there cars ?? tyres and good brakes are the most important, if you can’t stop the thing then you are totally stuffed!! We really like it!!

I have to say I was lucky enough to get an Audi release car, with just about every extra, list cost £48K. I wont say by how much but a lot less to me and within only 2K miles on it. It is absolutely amazing, just about the only car I have ever had to match it would be an S class. I tried the Jag XF, good but certainly no better and no way as well made or equipped. I hope it will go on pleasing me to make me keep it for 5 years as I don’t think that when this recession is over I will be able to get such a good car for such a good price. For comfort 90%, for engine performance there is no better from a TDI 95%, for quality 90%, for looks 95%, not too sure why you would ever want an Avant version; the seats fold flat and the boot is massive. Audi even call it the A6 Limo. 30MPG around town and 40+ + on a combined..says it all.

A little disappointed with this car coming from a Mercedes I thought it would be easier to drive. Minus points are... dreadful electronic handbrake which did not always release, stalls unless engine revs kept up due to 6 gears and only 2Ltr engine. Geared to produce high MPG figures. Difficult to position seat so that you can push clutch pedal to floor yet be comfortable. Really expensive SatNav, does not take post codes. Just done 10K miles and had to top up oil 3 times. Audi say that you could have to put in 1Ltr per 750miles..... YES 750miles. Not very green.... I will probably go back to Mercedes next year.

Kim, are you still encountering issues with the electronic hanbrake? If not, what did you do or have done to rectify? My father-in-law has one that does the same and Audi refuse to fix it as the fault is intermittent and never happens when taken in to the dealer - Ian Hay from Cheshire

Safe, quiet, luxurious, comfortable, quick, beautiful. Difficult to add more than that. A truly remarkable bit of kit for the money. So much so, I have now purchased the car after contract ran out. Tried the BMW 5 and E Class.... decision made. Only complaint is that the boot is so deep, you can loose items and not know about it. Well done Audi!

If you maintain an Audi A6 properly, the only better car would be a Mercedes S class.

Although now almost 4 years old the A6 more than holds its looks against the new, recently released models. It is a firm ride and the body control is good but the steering is not as responsive as I would have liked. The interior is spacious, seating five adult passengers with no problem. The interior is beautiful and luggage/storage space is impressive. This car feels extremely "safe", stability and traction control and active head restraints come as standard but best of all are the six airbags (side, curtain and front) also supplied as standard. Reliable - yes, it’s an Audi.

Had the car sept 06 broke down within 24 hours had a problem with cutting out in reverse (automatic!!!!) garage up revs which made the car very hesitant whilst pulling away garage had car back as one of their drivers deemed the car unsafe to drive off the road for 3 months whilst Audi found the problem still hesitant pulling away have to use the sport gear fro pulling out into traffic car up for renewal in sept don’t think I would have another one. Very disappointed.

This is the first Audi car I’ve driven (company car) as I’ve always been led to believe it’s the poor man’s BMW, which just goes to show you should never listen to rumour. I’m really blown away by this car, it has all the gadgets and gizmos you’d expect from a Vorsprung durch Technik car and some great safety features. The design and styling are on the luxurious side and the engine doesn’t let you down either. It’s not really done much mileage yet but will be taking it France this summer and am looking forward to seeing what it can really do.
