A hissing sound is coming from under the dash on my Volkswagen Transporter Shuttle. It goes away when brake is pressed. The van is also not idling properly at times. Has anyone any idea what might be causing these 2 issues? (Caravelle)

Answers

My Caravelle 2.5TDi auto does this. It’s the brakes. When you have used the brakes, the pedal hisses for up to 20 seconds afterwards, sometimes sounds like air leaking from a balloon. Doesn’t seem to affect braking performance - Kevin from Kent

I get really bad vibration at exactly 53mph, and can’t drive through it. All my tyres are new and fitted. If I reduce speed, the vibration goes. This is a major concern as I am a taxi driver and customers keep commenting on this. It vibrates right through the cab. I doubt it is the steering or drive shaft. Very slight play in os drive shaft but the garage say it would come through steering if it was os drive shaft. I replaced ns drive shaft two days ago seems to vibrate under drivers seat and rear of vehicle. Please help. (2.5 tdi)
