Hello. I have a 1998 VW Polo Classic 1.6i. (311 000km). I had the head gasket skimmed after the engine overheated. Now, approximately 600km after the skimming of the head, the engine revs uncontrollably. Its not a constant high rev (incorrect timing) but as if I were pumping the accelerator. Whilst idling the revs increase to 2000rpm and then jumps between 2000rpm and approximately 2500rpm. Previously the base idle was just below 1000rmp. Please advise what the cause of this may be. Thank you.

Hello I have a 1.4 2001 VW Polo. It started a couple of days a ago I would be driving along and the ABS light would come on and the car would beep as if I had opened the door with the lights still on. Also when it does this it turns the radio turns off till the beeping stops which can be anytime from a few seconds to 20 minuets. Since this when I turn my car off it completely dies. If I leave it over night it comes back on but with the dials reset. I know it's not the battery because I just got a new one recently. Any help or advice is welcome.

I have a polo 1.9 tdi 2007 model, my car seems to have a turbo problem. no power leaving a stop street etc but if i play with the accelerator pedal i hear the turbo winding up then the car takes off like a rocket. lots of black smoke present, when accelerating. fault codes, Boost pressure control negative deviation, MAF sensor open circuit ot short to ground, Wastegate by-pass regulator valve malfunctioning, EGR vacuum regulator solenoid valve, i replaced the solenoid valve (n75) with two other valves form a scrap yard and same problem. my only ideas left is that the actuator rod is adjusted wrong as i just fitted a recon turbo or a electrical problem to the solenoid valve n75, or a MAF problem. help please!

Hi. I have bought a 1.4 VW Polo 2002 model a few months back, it has started giving me some problems. It can change the gears softly nowadays, when i go up an incline the revs will go to between 5000 and 6000 and it will not change the gears. The only time it will change the gears is when i drive on a flat surface and i slightly press the accelerator otherwise on an incline it will only do 10km/h.

I bought a second hand VW Polo 2007 at 117,000km on the clock. 3 Months later while driving on the highway at 120km/h, the oil light came on. I dropped speed and tried to get to a safe area. On checking the cam gear had completely broken off. The car could only be towed. What could be the cause of this. Could this have happened if the car had been serviced 3 months before when it was sold to me. I need to prove a point of negligence on the part of the Dealership. Please assist.

Hello, Polo 2000 1,4 6N2-AKK engine stops during the driving and after that was immediatelly able to start. Fault detector has shown that the shafts speed sensors are weak. After that the connectors of it were cleaned and the air flap (air intake to combustion) as well. After that the engine stops only at idle revolution at the crossing stops/lights. Has anybody similar problem ? Thank you. Best regards, Dusan

Hi, when you rev it does it pick up or rev's it by its self? that might be caused by low compression in you engine, that happens when you rings or pistons damaged. best way if it doesn't pick up your rev or doesn't give you a chance to rev, the its loss of compression take it to the service. Hi There, I have a 2005 VW Polo 1.9TDi. It is fine and has served me well over the past few years. The coolant light however recently came on and we replaced the temp sensor. This however didn't do anything? Can you advise what the problem could be and how this can be rectified. Could it be that the coolant reservoir has a faulty sensor in it? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated KR Brendan.

I have a Polo 1.8i classis - 1999 model... I've noticed that when I go around a corner in 2nd gear (slowly releasing the clutch) there's a slight shudder ...... this started about 3 weeks ago ..... the clutch goes in smooth and no sticking of gears.... Can this be the plate more than the cable? And how long can one drive like this? Need to wait another week before I can get this sorted, hence my question. also, should the plate decide to "go" while i'm on the highway, what will happen? My clutch cable has snapped (on previous car) so I know what happens (basically hope you're in left lane and pull of the road).... but the plate going is all new for me and I just need to know what signs to look for and how to re-act when same does happen...

Just bought 2005 1.4L (petrol) VW Polo w/79,000 mi. on clock. After driving 40+ miles, drove through rain & puddles in road. Engine started misfiring, had to down-shift to get enough oomph to get up hills. After 10 miles, stopped. Started up again about 5 hours later (no rain now), check engine light still on, still misfiring, low on power and drove it home (10 miles) with horrible smell (like sick or rotten egg) coming through heating vents. Also just filled tank with petrol yesterday.

Hi, the driver window in my 2002 VW polo 1.4 estate stopped working recently. The handle seems to be not connecting properly with the mechanism and doesn't turn much one way or the other. The same window stopped working on my last car as well - a 1997 VW polo hatchback so maybe it's a weak point in them. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any tips for fixing it or getting a mechanic to do it. I saw the mechanism on ebay for 15 pounds sterling but I don't relish the job of taking the panel off and doing it myself. Does anyone know how long it would take a mechanic to do it? Thanks, Patrick.
