Hi guys I'm having a problem with my polo 2008 1.4 Trendline it makes a crackling sound when I release clutch, lately it's gradually making a aggressive crackling loud noise when I put it in 1st gear, not mention a bang when it's on 5th, now they say my clutch is worn out and I need to replace it before things get crazy, I found a guy selling a polo playa clutch kit his is a 2000 model wanted to know from someone who knows if the two different polo models could be compatible or not?...

there seems to be a drop in power just after pull-away, but then drives normally. Happened twice. Took the car to VW, no error codes registered. No throttle sensor error or pedal sensor error. No fuel contamination... Not sure what else can be checked as VW says everything is fine.

Hi I recently replaced my 1.4 POLO classic's engine with a 1.6 then replaced the pulley after it broke of, not sure if this information is relevant but i just need to give background. Now the dashboards lights stay on permanently even after removing the keys from the ignition, this causes the battery to drain uneccesarily how can i solve this? dont want to remove a fuse and run the risk of not being able to see the temperature gauge? My polo is judering an splutering an wont going up a hill on level ground it will pick up a bit though the gears in 5th it will do bout sixty it has got newplugs an leads and a new coil pack can some one help me out thanks

Answers

Hi, I also have a Polo Vivo 1.4. Uphill you need to go in 3rd gear. Only if you have been in 4th or 5th gear from a distance before getting on to the hill then the car will still be in the same speed. But when you start climing a hill from a stand still position or when pulling away from a robot just at the bottom of a hill then you must go through your gears up until 3rd to climb. It is completely normal. The reason why the car would be juddering up hill in 5th gear is simply because that is not the gear in which the car works hard. The car works hard with the your lower gears like 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Thus climb in 3rd gear not 5th. It is completely normal. Patrick from South Africa

My wife's Polo was recently impounded by the Council, and after retrieving it a picture of a spanner has been appearing on the dashboard - immediately after starting the car. It goes off after a few minutes, but it's certainly something that was not there before. Any ideas on what it could be? [2014 Polo 1.4 Match Edition - petrol, 7,500 miles] Ps I first saw the light when I got into the car at the impound. I thought it's one of those anti-theft sensor things that detected the car is being towed/ flat-bedded without keys in the ignition slot... but it's been coming back every time I start the car - for around 3/5 seconds

Answers

That can always be re-set; just go to any car service place and they can reset that for you. What it simply tells you is that your car is due for service. Usually after every 15 000 km's. But remember, that has nothing to do with the engine or the battery or anything. It literally is only a light to which give you an indication that your car is due for a service. Just reset it like you would reset the time on your odometer. That little button thing. Patrick from South Africa
