While driving my Volkswagen Lupo hot air comes through the clutch / brake area. What should be done to prevent this or shall I just go and see a local garage?

Most of the time my Volkswagen Lupo starts on the first turn of the key but sometimes, either hot or cold, the engine starts reluctantly and idles at about 500rpm instead of the usual 800rpm. In addition, when it is like this pressing the throttle makes no difference at all, with the engine maintaining the same low revs. After 6 or 7 seconds the revs suddenly increase to normal and full throttle control returns. I am baffled. Could it be the plugs, battery or a vacuum leak? (automatic)

I purchased my Volkswagen Lupo 1.4E petrol 1999 a month ago. It came with a full service history and has just been fully serviced with MOT which it passed with flying colours. However, it has started to puff a black cloud of smoke out of the exhaust every now and then. It seems to lose power as it puffs the cloud of smoke out and then it`s fine? It happens when I am slowing down or changing to lower gear. It has been back in the garage but they cannot find any fault. Any ideas anyone?(1.4e)

Had the same problem, garage thought it was either faulty injectors or cooling sensors, got both checked, the cooling sensors were responsible, costs about £80 (checking the injectors was more expensive though) - Ronnie Ward from Nottinghamshire

My Lupo is automatic, but at a junction the gearstick stuck in N and wouldn’t move into D. I had to turn the car off and on again before it would move. The Engine Management and Exhaust Emission warning lights have come on too. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas what could be the issue, before I take it down the garage? Cheers.

Why does my Volkswagen Lupo pull out of gear to neutral all by itself? I am talking about the VW Lopo 3L with automatic gear box. Thank you.

Oil light started to flash, shortly after its MOT, and there was a small nick in one of the water pipes, so a bit of water had leaked. Oil was a bit on the low side. What are the possible causes? Garage did a test using water and topping up the water, used tubes etc. seemed to over-fill it to test somehow. Not a VW garage, just went to the nearest one when light came on. (TDi)

In a minute after ignition, my little LUPO makes 3 short beeps 3 times from a dashboard (nothing blinking, just those 9 beeps) - this is repeating every minute. Any suggestions?
