Volkswagen Crafter

Hello, can someone please help!! I have vw crafter 2012, the van starts perfectly when it is cold and runs very well. When the engine warms up and I try to start up, it STARTS but dies immediately. I have to wait 5-10min to start it up again (sometimes it takes 15 times to get it running - starts and dies...). The engine will run all day without problem unless I switch it off. I have taken it to vw but they want to change 'half of the engine' quoted £4500. Many thanks for any help.

started to have quite bad vibration from rear of van, could it be a prop bearing?

Answers

Rich, it possibly could be prop bearing but a worn prop bearing on a crafter will give similar characteristics to that on a Sprinter (same base vehicle).. on the sprinter you get a periodic judder every now and then like as if you're going over the rumble strips on the side of motorway .. the painted lane departure warning. Answers

Hi there Just had same problem with mines You need to remove the small idle pulley that's to the left of the water pump pulley It's a torx bolt that holds the wheel on This will allow you to get in with a 13mm spanner to the bolt and remove without hitting pulley on way out John John from North Lanarkshire

Volkswagen Crafter

Hi all, We have a crafter that has issues with its brakes, as in they were very unresponsive and the van even rolled on a hill when it was fully loaded. After being told it needed new brake discs and pads on the rear wheels and handbrake shoes by 2 separate garages, i put my hand in my pocket and paid out, but i'm still no further forward. The braking is now spongy and the disc brakes are burning hot to the point they are nearly glowing after just a few miles. The fuel consumption is drastically different from how it was before, i'm using nearly twice as much fuel. I'm told it hasn't got a load bearing sensor so it cant be that either. The braking system feels like its sticking on but i'm told its not. Any advice would be much appreciated

Error Code on dash LA17. VW CRAFTER 2.5 diesel turbo 2006 lab high top. This prob occurs whether or not I been driving 2 hours or 2 mins. Drives fine until I have to slow down for any reason and sped up again. Engine cuts out and I get the glow plug sign light up on dash display and error code LA17' only thing I can do is turn ignition off and on again whilst moving and error code stays on and flashing for about two minutes then all is back to normal- If anyone knows how I get this fault corrected without having to spend millions I would be very grateful

Hi guys. I hope someone can help ASAP as I need my problem resolved by 12:00 today... eeeek. I have been having starting problem with my van over the past 3 weeks or so. When I put the key in the ignition all light will come on on dash but when I turn the key all I hear a small click / strike but nothing after this. Sometimes I don't hear the click at all. I have jumped started it on numerous occasions in the past three weeks from the engine battery connections (not from connections on the battery direct from the cab) and have had the battery replaced twice. But now it wont even start on a jump and when the key is turned I get nothing. All earths have been checked and are fine. I have 12.3V at the battery and 14.4 if I connect a jump (from car to engine points.) but nothing. I hope someone can help as I'm getting so many different opinions and clearly not the right one... STARTER MOTOR??? RELAY PROBLEM??? SOLENOID PROBLEM??? THANKS GUYS :)

The reason why the radiator light comes on is because it's sensitive when their isn't enough antifreeze in it , my been on for about 2 years trolling the Internet for answers and nobody seems to know so I went to wv spoke to the parts guy and he told me that what it was, yeah I laughed as well so I did it and it hasn't been on since 6 months so try it before you go and buy parts you don't need, good luck?? 1.kindly i am asking why my crafter have a tapping sound that disappears in 5 seconds 2.my crafter now does not accelerate

Answers

The tapping sound might be oil pump synchronization if the engine has ever been opened from the bottom... do this when you start it in the morning. 1.start then immediately switch off to oil it. 2. start it, then it will be fine. note that if that tapping sound happens everyday. you are soon to open the engine and replace a lot of stuff... regarding the acceleration issue, i cant think of anything. Hope this helps. Tiro from Botswana
