The battery of my Volkswagen Beetle goes dead but I find that my mph indicator remains alight. How do I fix it? I know that with some cars if you open the door it will come on until you shut the door?

My 2004 Volkswagen Beetle is making a rattling noise underneath when I drive in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear. I’ve been to see a mechanic and he thinks it could be the catalytic converter. Can anybody help with how much these are and the fitting? Or any good websites as to where I can find a cheapish one? Thank you.

I’ve had a engine fitted back in May 11, by a bunch of cowboys by the sounds of it. After a few weeks I learned they hadn’t given it a service so again I had to pay another 250 to have all this as other things wrong with it too. About a month and half after the service and 3 months after the engine was replaced the timing belt went and all its pistons and head gasket. I took the car back to the the garage and was told by the guy who did it no longer worked for him and that it was not his problem... I was so mad. I managed to find this guy and he fixed the timing belt and pistons and told us he had the head gaskets skimmed, then 3 weeks later, I was driving and the red oil light came on. It turned out then that the oil switch was knackered, as well as water pump, thermostat and few other things. The guy who fixed it did the check on the head gasket and everything was fine, again another 250 pound to fix, now there is brown sludge in my expansion tank and sounding very much like a bus when its not moving, like a tuts, tuts, tuts, tuts... Can someone please help me as to what is wrong with my Beetle... at the end of my tether :(

Sometime my wife’s Volkswagen Beetle dies when stopping or starting to take off. I have had all of the starter alternator and battery checked. Everything is in fine condition. When it dies the battery light comes on but when you put it in neutral or park it will start right back up. Thanks, Confused in Missouri!!

My 98 Volkswagen Beetle stalls when I try to accelerate from a stop or at any speed. If I don’t try to accelerate fast it is OK. I just had the Mass Airflow, O2 sensor and fuel filter replaced. Do I need a fuel pump or maybe a fuel relay? Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have a 1600cc singleport engine with a 2 barrel holly carb. My 1st and 2nd gears seem "OK" but when I shift into 3rd it won’t accelerate and stays the same whether I’m barely on the throttle or if it’s floored. I’m thinking it could be my accelerator pump or valves any ideas?

My Beetle has gone about 120,000 miles and has recently started to squeal when accelerating up hill at about 35-40 miles/ hour. The car only does this when going up hill. I recently had the serpentine belt changed and it still does this but it seems a little different. Any ideas on what I should check next?
