I can’t change the indicator bulb on the passenger side of my Vauxvall Vectra Estate 2006. We can get hold of the back of where we think the bulb is but it won’t move, even using different tools. Five different people have tried. Any ideas?

My Vauxhall Vectra Estate`s heater is on all of the time, regardless of the position of the control knob. I have checked the back of the control dial which is connected by a multi plug with maybe 15 wires, so it`s all electrical with no connecting rods. Has anybody had this trouble? (1.9cdti)

Hi, can anyone help. I was driving my Vauxhall Vectra Estate when I went to pull off in 1st gear it sort of went bang as though the gear had jumped out then I put it back in gear and my car would not move. The engine starts, you can put it in gear with or without the clutch dipped, without it cutting out. What is wrong with it? Please help.
Answers
I had a similar problem with my combo 1.3 cdti. I popped the bonnet and found that the gear linkage had came off. This transfers the movement of the gear stick via rods and links to the gearbox. I managed to push it back on but if it comes off once, it will again. Unlike my car you cannot buy the linkages separately, I had to buy the linkage assembly refurb kit, total cost was somewhere in the region of £150 fitted - Bobby Pollock from Somerset

The courtesy light on my Vauxhall Vectra has stopped working and the alarm is going of at random? Has anybody else experienced this?

I have had this car, a Vectra diesel 2-litre DTI since 2005 and had no real problems. But recently it started to misfire (shudder very quickly) and has just got worse, breaking down 4 times since mid December. I have changed the EGR valve and this seemed to have sorted it but again it spluttered to a halt so I used a EGR cleaner (£29.99 yes!) and it again seemed to have sorted it. It ran really well but it has started again. I have so far taken all the EGR manifold off, cleaned it all, replaced the EGR valve, sprayed the cleaner in, changed the air flow meter, checked all the pipes and rubber elbows and it still does it. Anyone got any idea’s because I need a car for work as I am now disabled so can’t just park it up and walk. Please help.

The safeguard warning came on showing alarm fault. The alarm goes off when it feels like it, flattening the battery. The dealer says wiring loom in roof lining (£500). Any other ideas or a cheaper fix? (1.9cdti)

Tim had car repaired at main dealers, same fault as yours diagnosed faulty alarm in rear offside window, able to bypass fault cost £117 inc. diagnosis - Chris Roome from Derbyshire
Tim, I had the same problem as you, took the car to Pentagon Vauxhall who diagnosed a faulty alarm sensor rear offside window. Solved problem by bypassing fault, cost £117.00 including diagnosis - Chris Roome from Derbyshire
I had same problem with my 2005 Vectra estate, it’s the alarm on window on the back door, remove the fuse to the alarm for that window. I think it’s no17 not quite sure, the fuse is panel is in the back of the car near side behind the panel - Paul Griffiths from Caerphilly

The heater on my Vauxhall Vectra Estate will not blow hot air but all pipes are getting hot. I flushed the matrix out and all controls are working fine. I’m at a loose end because to change the matrix doesn’t look much fun... Is there anything else I should try?

Hi. I have a Vauxhall Vectra 1.9 diesel and the power steering light came on. I have some fluid but cannot seem to find where to fill it. The agents suggest drivers front wheel arch, but I cannot see anything. There is a bottle behind the engine in the centre with a pipe going to the universal joint knuckle of the steering. Do I need to dismantle the wheel arch to find the bottle if it is behind the wheel arch. Thanks for any help, John. (1.9 cdti)

The bottle in the middle at the back under the fuel filter body, lift out the fuel filter only need to disconnect the wiring at the top and bottom. Remove the pipes careful not to kink pipes and the big bottle is right under there, the lid has a dipstick built in - Craig Mackenzie from Lanarkshire

Please can anyone help. Loud clicking noise behind dash when driving and when not driving. Power dips now and again as if fuel is not getting through. Changed fuel filter no different. Engine Management Light came on and Transmission Light. Engine Management Light now off. Drives OK and no other naughty sounds. Had it on diagnostics and they said they reset the computer and to come back when light comes on again. I didn’t even get off the forecourt. It is booked in for Monday but wanted some ideas before I go back. Any ideas please?

There is a fault indicater in the tacho, on my Vauxhall Vectra Estate, which is on all the time. It looks like a circle with a keyhole inside, and inside this a question mark. Can anybody throw any light on what this means? This symbol is not in the handbhand book...

The alternator indicator is illuminated on display, is it battery or alternator? Don’t wish to purchase battery to no avail.
Answers
Get a battery test done on the car first - Craig Mc from Northumberland
Alternater mate. The light has nothing to do with battery condition. If you have jumpy dash dials, DON’T drive it. It’s probably got a faulty regulator and can cause wiring to burn out. Put a meter across the battery terminals with the engine running, it should read around 14v for a 12v battery. If it’s a lot higher or very erratic then get the alternater changed - Shaun Stott from England

My Vectra starts okay but the engine hunts between 600-800 rpm, unless you push the accelerator down a bit. It runs fine after that as long as you are wary of engine hunting on idle when stopped at junctions. Can anyone help? (2.2 SRI 150PS)
