Answer this question

Phil Harris, Kent

Vauxhall Movano

Hi. Wondered if anyone else had this problem . . . Have read through and not found the same . . . My 2004 movano side sliding door has slightly dropped on the left hand side when closing it. The yop of the door now touches the passenger door when its closed and there's a larger gap on the right hand side top . . . I have checked the bottom and top rollers but its not that easy to determine how much wear they have got in comparison to new ones. When the door is slightly open, i can wiggle it up and down enough to make a difference. In anyones experience, would it be better to change both rollers anyway to eliminate the roller part of the problem? Or could it be something else? Thank you in advance for your opinions. Regards, Phil.

Answers

Three things possible here, Phil..1. The rollers are shot.. 2. the assembly has dropped and needs adjustment... or 3. the arm has bent.. ... you may find that it has affected the middle roller assembly as well... put it under strain... what I'd do is open the door a little, just enough to be able to take the rollers off... then jack up the door to push it a little higher than it sits now (remember to protect the lower lip by using a block of wood or similar) then slacken the fixing bolts.. top and botton bracket.. and watch what happens.. if they go down you may just get away with it.. if they don't or can't be moved.. then your mechanisms may need changing.. you could take each bracket off (one at a time because the door will fly off) and examine the roller assemblies. What happens a fair bit is the pins that fix the roller assembly to the arm becomes loose and the alignment goes to pot.. so you may be able to use punches to fix this back.. but better to get new assembly. my van is sluggish when setting off from standstill. could this be an electrical problem or something else.it gets serviced regular.thanks.

Answers

Philip, Is this something that has happened all the time, developed over time or just come on all of a sudden? If it's been there all the time it could just be the BHP of your vehicle.. if it's just come on then it could be a fault you'll have to get diagnosed.. if it has slowly built up, then it could be clogging up of your systems over time.. servicing won't stop that, but putting a fuel system cleaner in the fuel tank may assist clearing some of the deposits and improve performance. R Evans from Caerphilly

thanks for your reply to my question ,r evans. it has come about in the last month or two.i will get a diagnosis done.thanks philip ogden from South Yorkshire

Philip.. if it's happened over the last two months (maybe been building up longer) then it could be soot build up.. try a fuel system cleaning additive first and give it a bit of wellie.. see if it makes a difference... certainly won't do it harm. R Evans from Caerphilly

Hi, I have a buzzing noise coming from the passenger side windscreen trim area on a L2H2 2013 movano. Only seems to happen in the rain, buzzes when turned off and locked as well. Buzzing seems to be from the upright pillar area. I didn't want to strip it down myself before asking if anyone can shed some light on this? Many thanks in advance.

I have a 12mth old L2H2 van with a side loading door that has dropped so much that the door open warning on the dash is beeping most of the time.My dealer has told me that there are over 200 vans with the same problem, and all i`m told is that the parts are on back order. Is there another solution out there please?

Answers

Yes I have got the exact same problem with the side loading door on my Vauxhall Movano, I have been to my local dealer in Kirkcaldy, Fife today to have them reset the door to stop the buzzer going off in the cabin all day long, on the way home it starting buzzing again, this Is the 2nd time I have had to take it in for this problem, but the people deny there is a common fault with these doors on the Movano, I ain't got a solution to offer you, but I can tell you your not alone with this problem, I think we should get as many people together with this problem as we can and demand our money back and go and buy a Renault Master instead !! Garry Haviland from Fife

Exactly the same problem with my L2H2, 63plate movano about 6 months ago. I was told that it was unusual and just needed an adjustment, no better after a full day with Peter vardy, seafield. Took it instead to Evans halshaw Vauxhall, Edinburgh. great service, full door contact unit replaced under warranty. Still doesn't excuse the fact that this is a common fault and should probably have been a recall?? wayne smith from West Lothian

Thebs issue is something vauxhall should have done something better about. A lot of people have thus problem guessing from the number of threads online. Anyway changed from ford transit to vauxhall movano about a week and half ago and I nearly went mad with the door open buzzer on all day every day. I tried cleaning the pressure plate and contacts but it still didn't work. Anyway as fidgety as I am I had a long look today and realised a simple easy fix. Looking at the bottom left corner of the door I realised it wasn't flush with the rest of the body as it should from factory. It was slightly offset outside. With the door open, I applied pressure to the bottom corner with my knee and that's all it took. No more door open buzzing noise. I think this may have about as load is thrown about banging on the door which causes it to move. Hope this fix will help out. David from West Midlands

I have a 12 plate Renault Master with the same problem. After replacing all of the rollers ( Top Bottom and Middle). I have now replaced the locaters and cups on the door. This has cured the problem. Look at the locaters and check for wear. Robert Green from Essex

Hi. Got a problem with drivers "door open" warning light and audible alarm coming on when door is shut. this is preventing me from locking the van on occations as the locking system thinks the door is open. Can anyone tell me where i might find the actuator that opperates the warning light as i cant locate any external switches or contacts. Is it perhaps a micro switch inside the door? HELP

Answers

Had a similar problem with mine I adjusted the door keep and it is fine now. Paul from Kent

Thanks for the tip Paul. unfortunatly it was not as simple as that on mine. After having no joy with adjusting the keep i still had the problem so i decided to strip the door trim off .This took about half an hour once i located all the fixings several of which are hidden behind plastic blanks ,then unplug the electric window controls , inside door handle pull cable and then the trim was free. Then the window guide rail needs to be removed at which point you can unbolt the door catch mechanism and pull it from the door cavity . The bad news is the micro switch is built into a riveted together assembly which you would have to destroy to access it so it looks like you have to buy the whole assembly. It looks an expensive part to replace but ive not enquired yet. HOPE THIS IS USEFULL INFO FOR SOMEONE neil parker from Shropshire

Answer this question

Robert, Kent

Vauxhall Movano

Vauxhall Movano 2.5 CDTI (MLB) won't start. It went into the garage with poor compression as going uphill killed the van, could only get into 40/50 mph max. It was OK on the flats. Since it's been in with the mechanics it now won't start. Before it went in I was getting error codes: PO 100 = MAF Sensor (not yet replaced) PO 105 + PO110 = Coolant & Air Inlet Temp MAF not reading when cranking. Inlet air Temp is minus 40C!! They replaced: Injector seals, Rocker gasket, due to oil leak, Crank Sensor. Removed the ECU and sent it away to be tested - it passed. Timing was checked and is OK. When it was starting the fan started up almost instantly and continued running after the engine had stopped, maybe due to the 40C temp? Thinking of replacing the fuel pressure sensor, fuel filter and cleaning the ERG. Apparently the cooling sensor was also replaced but need to verify that in the morning. Any ideas certainly welcome!!

2004 vauxhall movano left side indicator light keeps flashing and cannot turn it off any ideas ?

Answers

Hi Pete, to flash it has to get a 'live' supply from somewhere. It sounds like a cable has been damaged and is shorting out OR water has somehow gotten in also causing a short. Is it at random times or continuous? Does it still flash when your ignition is off? If it is either of the above then it's a simple check/clean fix. If it's not, then an auto sparky should fix it for around £30 blahblah from Aberdeenshire

Hi I have a Movano own diesel 2004. It cuts out as I'm driving, the red stop light comes on and the red motor light comes on. I've changed injectors, ramp sensor on the ramp. This morning after 1 month of ok motoring it cut out again but started up again while driving. Cuts out mainly it seems when accelerating or going uphill. No problem in starting. Thanks in advance for your help

Answers

Hi, My Movano did this as well - it would cut out, but start straight back up, you didn't even need to stop! I found that the fault had cleared after I changed the cam belt, so I suspect its a bad earth, or damaged cable that run at the cam belt end of the engine. Hope that helps Kind regards Simon Simon Poling from Hampshire
