I have a Vauxhall Meriva life 1.6 8v. The problem I have is when the car is cold it runs fine but as soon as it starts to warm up the engine light comes on, it's the one with the car with the spanner through it. I have had it to a garage which told me it was the electronic accelerator pedal which I replaced but I still have the fault. Can you give me any ideas as to what the fault could be? Thanks

Hi there. I have an issue with my engine overheating. The car was a couple of times in the garage and has been checked for head gasket, I was told that it's fine but the water pump is failing. Changed it but still the same, still keeps overheating. Noticed my exhaust was blocked, car back to garage and fixed. It helped a bit but still overheating but not as fast. The fan kicks in when engine goes over 90°. First couple of times will bring it back to 90 but after while just keeps rising and gets me to code 4, stop the car. At this stage starts spitting coolant through overflow. Any ideas what`s causing the engine to behave like that? (1.4 140PS 2011reg)

Had my 09 plate Meriva for almost 3 years. 5 weeks ago I had the known steering problem which luckily vauxhall repaired free of charge. Last week I was driving to work when suddenly the engine light came on and the car lost all power. After being towed to the garage I was informed the timing chainof had snapped, and given the fact I was doing 70 at the time it's done quite a bit of damage. After researching this I've found that the chains should last the lifetime of the car but there are known problems with them on the smaller engines! Mine is 6 years old with 59k on the clock. Vauxhall are basically saying tough but I don't buy it.....seems this car has lots of known issues they should be taking responsibility for. Any one else had any experience of this?

For a few minutes after starting, a row of 3 orange indicators appears immediately above the odometer (mileometer) readings. They are each about 5mm square and look like the rear or front side of the car, including wheels. I can find no reference to them in the manual - maybe something to do with tyre-pressure (which I have checked)?

My car seems to shudder/judder intermittently when accelerating seemingly too hard and sometimes there's a bang as if something has just caught the underside of the car (mostly when changing from 1st to 2nd & there's a distinct lack of power until this bang and then normal pull seems to happen). I'm not anything like a mechanic and don't want to get stung with a hefty garage bill, does anyone have a clue what this could be?

Hi there. I have a 2007 Vauxhall Meriva that has experienced a steering fault, the ESP light comes on unexpectedly and the power steering goes, making it very difficult to steer. I have read there is a common fault with this make of car and don't know what to do. I have had a computer diagnostic test done but it`s showing no faults? What can I do about this as driving with my children in the car is scary! Can anyone help please?

Get the mechanics to check the EARTH lead from the power steering and put extra spacers on the connection to the body, ours did the same for months until I noticed it did it more often accelerating hard, braking hard or when the engine was shaken. BAD connection, I told our garage this and they found it was the earth lead connection to the power steering, so they sorted it and since then never had the problem again. Phil from Northumberland

My nearside brake light has failed due to a corroded socket in the lights array & a corroded plug on the lighting loom.According to my garage you can't just buy a replacement plug for the loom, you have to buy the whole loom at a cost of more than £1600 plus hefty labour charges because it's a long and complicated job. Does anyone know of any cheaper, quicker solution? MOT due in 2 month's time.

Last week at my job when the car was parked one of the parking attendants pushed the car forward a few feet as parking is very tight in Rio. When returning to the vehicle later on upon turning on the engine the left sidelights came on, front and back. Fast forward three weeks and I tried to open the doors but no power, completely dead. I`m not sure if both problems are related?

I have a Vauxhall Meriva. When braking, it is very difficult to pull back off, the revs won't go up until I have pressed down the accelerator very hard for a good 10+ seconds. It will roll forward as if I'm not accelerating at all until it seems to "catch" and will finally doped up. No warning lights or codes on at all.
