Hi, I own a Meriva ( 62 plate ) and the ABS warning light has come on whilst driving. Before I started the engine, the oil light stayed solidly on until I turned the engine on, which I haven't noticed before. I have read online that it can mean the brake fluid has run low, or several other things to do with wires coming loose, but I was hoping that as the oil warning light was on before the engine was started that it might be related to the brake fluid levels, in which case - how do I go about filling that up? Many thanks, Georgie

i had my car serviced a few weeks ago and since it started cutting out, it got worse and completly stopped when i opened the bonnet the oil fill cap was missing and was all over engine and no oil, managed to replace cap and refill oil but its still cutting out and feels juddery when driving exhaust is blowing a lot when first start from cold. question is can the oil have got into the electronics or is engine seizing because it run dry, obviously when it was serviced the mechanic forgot to put oil fill cap on proper

I have a really frustrating central locking issue with my wife's Meriva, the remote fob always unlocks the car but 9 times out of 10 does not open on the remote fob, the key operation in the drivers door lock operates the central locking on all of the doors on both locking and unlocking without fault, sitting in the car if you press the driver door locking pin down it locks all the doors but when pulling it back up it does not unlock all of the doors and neither does opening the driver door trigger the door unlocking sequence on all doors so all other doors remain locked. Can't figure out the cause as sometimes unlocks using the remote fob, manual key operation full functional but internal door pin only locks all doors but doesn't not re open them all. Key battery replaced and does function using key with intermittent unlock issue, however if you attempt any key syncing procedure, and tried all the possible procedures the key will not go through a synchronisation routine, tried this just in case. Has anyone had the same problem or similar with any suggestions to a resolution?? Many thanks

Answers

From the symptoms you've described it seems most likely that you have a fractured wire in the loom where it passes between the driver's door and the A post - this is a very common point of failure for any door electrical issue, from locking to windows to speakers etc. Having said that, the lock mechanism itself is a weak point (my car is on it's third) but I'm less inclined to think it's the mechanism from what you've said.. Hello hopefully you can help me. My Fuel flap on my Meriva is no longer locking. There is a small whole in the side where I'm guessing the lock should pop out from to lock into the fuel flap hole. Nothing comes out of the hole when I press the central lock button my my keys. Is there a way to access this lock so I can see if it's either broke or loosened. I've tried having a look to see how I can get in but have been unsuccessful. Thanks

I topped the engine oil up before traveling to London. After 200 miles approx the oil light came on. I checked the oil level was fine. I started the engine again no light came on. This has repeatedly happened since I have been back home. There are no leaks the oil level is fine. What should I do?

Answers

This happened to me with an old Golf GTI: filling up oil all the time, until I discouvered it was the Coolant that somehow made the Oil indicator light up. Check your coolant and see if any leaks. Miguel from Oxfordshire

Hi I have a Meriva 1.7 cdti SE 2012, and have had no problems up until now, just 26000 miles, I get Code 84 coming on and the car going into limp mode. this happens intermittently as when you leave the car for a couple of hours the light goes out and car runs fine for a little while and when I leave it and come back to it again the Code 84 light comes on again and will not go off until I leave it again for a couple of hours, A friend suggested taking the negative connection off the battery and leave it of for up to five minutes and then put it back on, the code numbers come up and cycles through them and no more Code 84 for a while. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Answers

Code 84 is reduced/lack of power. Suspect the fuel pump relay. It is in the engine fusebox and it is a black relay with a small (but useless) 'handle' on the top and is almost exactly in the middle of the fusebox to the right side of fuses 2/3/4. Remove it and check the bottom of it and where it plugs into. Melted plastic on the relay base or where it plugs into show it has overheated. You can substitute it with another relay from the fusebox. Top left relay is front fog lights (if fitted) and 3rd one down is aircon. It is similar to, but not the same as, the Corsa D. Hello. I've had my 2012 meriva for 6 months with no issues until now. Recently it's been really sluggish and really Judders under low revs. If I put my foot down in 3rd doing about 2000 revs it's Judders like pulling and stopping. I've read online it could be a maf issue. Does anyone have any experience of this issue

Hi, could you please help. both my front electric windows have stopped working(wind up on back) I have checked fuses and they are ok. Also when I lock it I push the remote twice to switch immobilser on that has also stopped working - locks ok on first press but nothing happens when you push it again. Also when you drive off after a few seconds all doors lock, that still works but when get out to open the other doors they are still locked and I have to open them with the remote or when I have stopped to save taking the key out of ignition unlock the doors by pushing switch on dash. All this has happened together and not individually, I have contacted my local Vauxhall garage who said they would charge me approx. £120 to check it out and that it may be the 'body module' and would be very expensive, please help Thank you

Vauxhall Meriva - 1.4 Twinport Petrol 2004 The EML came on. Engine runs fine 95% of the time, just slight loss of power at low revs (10-15 mph). Knock it up a gear and it's fine. Doesn't misfire or stop. Garage tells me oil has leaked down the Oil Pressure Switch into the Engine ECU, and that as the car is nearly 12 years old, it's not worth replacing. Fab little car with only 59,000 on the clock. Your advice please - thanks

Answers

I had exactly the same problem with my meriva a 58 plate 1.4 lovely runner and immaculate inside and out except for the EML which started about 18 months after I had it. Same diagnosis regarding oil leaking into the pressure switch. I had the pressure switch replaced and the wiring loom cleaned. This happened at least 3 times with a space of about 3 months between each episode. I became so frustrated with it and asked my mechanic to keep it until he found out what the problem was. He told me I would need a completely new wiring loom but then couldn't guarantee it would solve the problem. I decided to cut my losses & eventually sold it at Auction with the EML showing for 400 pounds. I was gutted. I wanted to keep it because it was such a lovely car but couldn't afford to spend out any more money on it. Sorry if this isn't really an answer to the problem but clearly it is a common fault with these cars and unless you are a mechanic or have deep pockets its not worth the hassle. hi my meriva has carspanner light on when engine running. reset service light then started engine and it went off but came back on when reved the engine.their is nothing obvious i can hear or see that is wrong please help

Answers

Michael, have you tried driving it with the spanner showing? If so, do you lose power? If so it is possibly an egr valve clogging or if turbo is fitted it might be the turbo actuator that is sticking. Both parts can be cleaned and restored to working.. though egr may be in need of replacement. You could go down the line of diagnostics (engine tuning specialist will be cheaper than dealer) to find out what code in ecu... then fix it. R Evans from Caerphilly
