Please, where is the horn located on a meriva

Answers

Hi, I have just changed mine (2011 plate). The horn is both visible from the top and from underneath the engine. If you are standing looking at the engine the horn is located down through the gap to the left of where you check the oil, approximately half an arm length down. From the top you can make out a kind of silver saucer shaped horn and the top bolt which holds the horn onto the bracket. Being a girl (and blonde) I found it easier to take the whole thing off from underneath, with the aid of a kerb. If you buy the part from vauxhall it's a simple clip connector and 1 bolt, they cost £20 but it's a lot less hassle than the universal ones for £5.99 on ebay. If changing from the top you need 2 people (one person applying upward force from below and the other screwing on the bolt), from the underside of the car it only takes one person and a rachet. Hope this helps Caroline from Tyne and Wear

Hello. Hoping someone can help and it's a quick fix. I turned my engine on yesterday and the rear windscreen wiper and washer came on. Button on wiper lever was in off position. I moved the lever everyway but wouldn't turn it off. No idea if I had done something but as far as I'm aware not... I Took it to a vauxhall service centre and he held the lever forward for a good 20 seconds and it stopped. The guy said that he thinks there is a fault and needs booking in as pulling the lever forward is for the front wipers not the rear. Just checking this is the case, it's not happened since although not touched any of it since. My service centre is a nightmare to get to so just getting a second opinion before taking it in. Many thanks in advance. Any advice gratefully received.

After driving around a hundred miles on the motorway I exited and was going around a roundabout when my battery light came on and my engine stopped. I managed to restart it again and continued another 50 miles without a problem. Could it be that I need a new battery or is it something more serious?

Answers

Silly question but have you checked your water and coolant? My meriva (2011) did this when the coolant needed topped up. The garage said it was a faulty thermostat, as this causes the same issue, but it was just the water in this instance. Caroline from Tyne and Wear

Hi, I've got a 2011 Meriva. I've started to experience acceleration problems where occasionally the acceleration at low revs feels very sluggish and jumpy before kicking in. There are no EM lights coming up. This tends to happen more after the car has been running for a while 20 mins or more. The rev counter seems to move smoothly when this happens but it's clear that there's something not right. I don't want to take it into the dealership just yet without any ideas what the problem could be. Any ideas?

Answers

Same issue with my Meriva last year.... The garage put it on the computer and sure enough there was a major fault there. They couldn't find the fault at first (took 5 days) and then it was the coils that needed changing. If I were you I would take it to the garage, tell them you took it somewhere else and they have advised you it is the coils, this way if you ask them to check them first it will save you £££'s Eventually as the issue grows the car will lose power altogether or not start at all. My Meriva is 4 years old and has only done 12000 miles, but the fuel gauge is now faulty. It stays permanently in the red with fuel light on. When I fill it up, it goes to 3/4, then slowly moves up to full. As soon as fuel drops to 3/4 again fuel gauge goes back to in the red. Found out by accident that if the battery is disconnected for a short time, the fuel gauge then works perfectly for a couple of days, then reverts to fault. Any help appreciated, as I don't want to pay for a 'trial and error' in the garage.

Only had my car for a couple of weeks and tried filling it up. Both times it would only let me fill 1/2 to 3/4 full. Can anyone tell me why?

Answers

Sounds like a faulty fuel gauge. You can try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting to see if it resets. If not its a garage job Caroline from Tyne and Wear

I have the same problem and im looking for some answers around the internet, i think i might try some clutch lube if i can get some, or silicon or lithium grease. If you lube it yourself, you will have to keep lubing it, though. So in some cases it may be best to get it to replaced. Cormac from County Londonderry

It has done just over 40 000 miles till now and had its service 6 months ago but I can not see any record of its timing belt being changed. I looked for some answers online and they seem to vary a lot. Wanted to know how often should the timing belt be changed on this model? Please can you help.

The problem I have is when the car is cold it runs fine but as soon as it starts to warm up the engine light comes on, it's the one with the car with the spanner through it. I have had it to a garage which told me it was the electronic accelerator pedal which I replaced but I still have the fault. Can you give me any ideas as to what the fault could be? Thanks
