The info display shows the outside temperature in degrees Farenheit. I cannot find in the handbook how to change the display to degrees Celsius/Centigrade, especially as the handbook only refers only to degrees Celcius/Centigrade.

my power steering failed in march 2016 the same as happened again vauxall replaced the steering column free after complaining to head office now thes say its the internal control module requires replacing code c1550 at a cost of 1200 pounds but the problem was exactly the same this time is the control module connected to the steering column or a seperate item

Answers

it seems to be a bit of a grey area exactly the same thing has happened to me. first of all my steering failed. after researching it I saw that it is a common fault that have been investigated by watchdog. I emailed vauxall they said take it to my main dealer they will test it for a certain fault code. if that is the case they will put it right. well it was the code. it took 4 days to change the steering colomb. less then 1000 miles later about 3 months I was driving along in a 30 thank goodness and the steering stoped working on power eps light came on I could barely control the car so I booked the car into the main dealer 8 oclock this morning it been there all day they put it on the computer at 4.30 when I rang them all they said theres a different code coming up and because its nearly closing they will investigate it tomorrow . I bet they come up with the same code as yours. it seems that the steering on some models are no good and with it costing aroung £1000 to fix and then it all going wrong again shortly after there a big problem and they are avoiding the situation. I will let you know the outcome....len len bailey from Swansea

Hi, having a problem with central locking. Only started randomly while driving. The beeping warning noise started and the symbol with a door and a key appeared. The beeping will not stop. Reading the manual it says to turn the child locks on on both rear doors and the beeping will stop(which it did) and consult your local dealer. Any ideas what is causing it? It is 2014 and only 30000 miles. Thanks in advance!

Answers

Any luck with this. I'm having exactly the same problem the beeping is doing my head in!! steve from North Yorkshire

I'm from South Africa - I've just bought a used 2008 Meriva 1.4 for my daughter and cannot roadworthy the car because of the power-steering failure problem (which I've just realised is very common) The agent in Cape Town has had the car for a week and says the steering column needs to be replaced (but they cannot get the parts) in any case this would be completely unaffordable to me. The EPS failure seems to be exactly the same as the cases mentioned in this forum. I'd be interested to know whether anyone else in SA has got Opel / GM to accept any responsibility for this issue and who can be contacted (Sorry I know this is mainly a UK site but there does not seem to be same for SA)

Answers

Had this problem on my daughters 2005 Meriva, was told that the electric power steering draws a lot of power from the system and if the battery is getting on then the power steering cuts out as it tries to draw too much power from the battery. Try changing the battery first this worked for my daughters car. Ken from Suffolk

My wife's 2012 Meriva 1.4SE has a temperature gauge issue, the temperature rises very quickly and shows Code 4, however once you turn on the A/C the temperature gauge drops just as quickly and runs at normal temperature, the problem can occur again so turning on the A/C cools it again. She had the car into our local garage who initially thought it was a water pump problem, but it turned out not to be the case, they had cleared a blockage in the system but the problem started to occur again yesterday. Is this a thermostat failure or sensor failure, could anyone shed any light on this, or had the same issue?

On starting from cold, the engine idles OK in N, and N shows on screen, but stalls either 1. on changing to R or moving to the central selector, (R or A shows on screen OK. ) or else, 2. on releasing brake pedal. Usually there is a loud clunk in changing to R or to central position, but this may be unconnected to the stalling.

Meriva Life 65 plate. This seems a silly problem but whilst driving today I noticed my trip odometer, which had about 1200 miles on it, had reset itself to zero. I usually reset it after filling up but I'm on holiday and am curious to see how many miles I drive! I hadn't pressed any buttons and had been driving a few minutes before it reset itself. Does anyone know any reason why this has resettled? I can't find anything online or in the manual and I expect if I ask Vaukhall they will try to get me to bring it into the garage at a cost! Thanks

Good Morning - My Tailgate will not open with the central locking - this has been an intermittent problem but now the boot will not open at all unless I climb into the boot and open it from inside manually

Answers

Broken wires on the top/left-hand side of the tailgate (pull off flexible rubber part to expose wires inside). Can be repaired by soldering the broken wires, or you can buy a replacement for example searching Vauxhall MERIVA A TAILGATE WIRING LOOM (not sure if this is for the right hand side or the left hand side, maybe it fits on both.) Boot lid doesn't open. It's the model without key so the only way to open it is to press a button on the handle.I have replaced the boot handle (microswitch) and actuator (electric motor ) but the problem persists. As far as I could see the actuator turns only one way, towards the locked position. I have checked the wiring loom and none of the cables are completely severed however the plastic protection on a few of them is broken so that I can see the wire inside. It seems that the actuator only receives the signal to lock even if I press the unlock button on the remote control. I'm not sure how the unlock command gets to the actuator. Any suggestions on what the problem might be? Lacking other ideas I was thinking to replace the wiring loom but I'm not sure if that will solve the problem. Thanks!

I have a VX Meriva with the "suicide" doors. Twice now I have driven off and the back doors have not been closed properly and they have swung open and caused considerable damage to parked cars and the doors themselves have to be replaced as they crumple back like sardine cans on impact. Does the Meriva have an alert sound or light to advise that a door is still open before you take off as mine obviously doesn't! Can anyone assist on this. Thanks

Answers

Assuming things are working correctly on your vehicle, you should get an audible alarm sound and the display between the rev counter and odometer should show a doors open image. If you are not getting either, then you have a fault with the car that needs looking into. Ken from Suffolk

On turning ignition on in the morning there is a pump like noise and last for about 2minuts before depress clutch to start is this the heating of the glow plug procedure. And after driving for a while and switching engine of it sounds like it has been running all the time. I have no users manual with the car to check all switches and not sure how the crews control work or if it works at all.

Answers

try YouTube for instructions they have help for most thing for cars That what I do. you can actually get free download for user manual. as for crews control don't know if all the same, but on my meriva you have 3 controls . 1 is the on off switch 2nd has a X on which clears the speed you set to 3rd is the speed controller when on will not work in first gear will not work under 20mph to set the speed you can do 2 things you should have a switch that move up and down when at the speed you like to set with switch in centre position press switch in, a light should show on dash it is activated. to increase speed press switch forward and hold until desire speed reached to slow down press back or down. slowing is better done by clear switch braking and reset slows when braking or changing gear cruise de-activates but just press control switch forward and will auto go to last speed set hope this some use as for other problem no idea hope someone else can help on this John Smith from Derbyshire

Evening. Recently bought a Mervia, have a question about the locking mechanism. After I have driven, I get out of the drivers seat, shut my door and then go to open the passenger door to get my child out of the car. However, the door is always locked and I have to unlock the door with the fob before I can get him out. Is this how it should function?

Hi, check your locking functions on the dashboard. There is a choice -drivers door or whole car unlock. Hope this helps :-) Adie from Conwy

I have the same problem and i don't have locking functions on the dashboard.... Marius from South Yorkshire
