Hi I have a Vauxhall insignia 1.8 petrol 2008 model, at times it wont start after driving it. I will place the key in the ignition and it shows that there is a spark it kind of starts but cuts out and there no sensor codes that come on the dashboard but then after a good few hours the car will start without any problems. AA had looked at it and said its a fuel pump issue as they witness the car not starting after various attempts. One of the mechanic I took it to witnessed it once but after it started again after an 1hour he does not think it is the fuel pump and another mechanic that looked at it thinks that its the sensor on the exhaust is overheating, but the other mechanic doesn't think this is the problem as well . I have taken it Vauxhall and they don't seem to know as it started with them when left overnight with them. The other two mechanics have the same problem that looked at it as it started after a few hours. Please could someone help ..

Wondering if anyone can help. I have a year old Insignia. ( just new to us) an error warning has just started to pop up on the central display. It reads 'system communication error. Communication problem has occurred with the climate system. This may fix itself. Restarting the vehicle may also fix the problem' Because the error keeps appearing I am presuming its not fixing itself. Does anyone have any experience of this or do I throw myself at the mercy of the dealer? Is there a quick fix? Thanks

My Vauxhaull insignia cdti Sri battery won't keep its charge I can take it for long drive turn it off then turn it back on to start again straight away but it's flat as a fart and no lights on dash anyone know what's causing this

Answers

get the battery tested for charge holding.. the cheapest option to replace.. then test the alternator output.. but before changing either (or both) check all the contacts are clean and good R Evans from Caerphilly

Will try that thank you Shaun from East Riding of Yorkshire

If AA or RAC member give them a call they will test battery for you. I had the same problem and it was the battery!! Lot cheaper than having a new alternator!!! Battery can be expensive though as they are high current'm Rhys Hughes from Rhondda Cynon Taf

Hi, I had a problem with my battery couple of months back, had to get it start using jum leads; got battery replaced next day; but to my surprise trip mileage & total mileage count shows three dashes "---" only, rest of the functions are working fine; been to couple of garage's they checked my car using diagnostics softwares but results are clean (just couple of minor warning for door sensor & others) but nothing related to mileage or any relavant parts. before i go to dealer any suggestions ?

Answers

hie, i have the same happen last week and was quoted £600 to replace whole dash but yet no faults found...so i refused to change it and demand they replace as its a manufacture issue out of my control. if you have a fix do share or if you get quoted for less do share too. i will keep you posted on results. good luck hardwin from Gloucestershire

Hi, we all are in the same boat. I gave my car (Vauxhall insignia 2010 model) for full service last week and after the service back home I noticed that the total mileage on the display is "_ _ _" . I took it back to the garage but they don't have any solution. Don't know what to do now. Pls post me if you guys got it fixed. Good luck both. Amar from South Yorkshire

Your battery could be faulty. Had same sort of issue last year. I had AA out and the very nice man tested it and found it was faulty, changed and the problem went!! Rhys Hughes from Rhondda Cynon Taf

Hi, if battery is faulty. I think, it won't display anything but in my case trip mileage, efficiency, available miles for fuel are okay. Only total milage at the bottom is displayed as "_ _ _". Still you think it's due to faulty battery? Amar from South Yorkshire

My Vauxhall Insignia makes an odd humming sound in two types of situations: - The first is intermittent happens If i use the stop-start function... when the engine switches off, it makes the hum sound for around 2 seconds and then stops. As I say, it doesn't always do it. - The other time it makes this noise is when driving around towns at a lower speed, again only after the engine has been on a while. It will just kick at random points, normally when pulling away, releasing the clutch but it also can start when I change into 2nd and just makes the noise constantly. If I sped up it would stop, but if I brake and come to a stop, often it continues until moving off again. I can't do anything to control the noise, it just has a mind of it's own and will sometimes be short, sometimes be on for a while. It doesn't sound like it's causing damage or that theres a mechnical part catching, there's most likely a genuine reason for what's going on but the noise shouldn't be there. Any ideas?

Sorry to hijack this post but have you had a reply, mine is doing exactly the same as what you've described. Been happening for a few weeks, booked in to Vauxhall on Friday but I'd like some clue before I get there. Alec from Cardiff

turbo boost valve sensor ... dead easy to change, its on the n/s attached to the slam panel. Two pipes attached which slide off and the power plug which is held in by a spring clip. These valves are around £60 from Vauxhall or even cheaper off ebay (around £40). 10 minute job to fit even for a novice. John Hallam from Somerset

Just bought a Vauxhall insignia 1.8 When having a test drive noticed the blowers weren't working at all, nothing on the panel, no lights. So they said the auto electrician has had a look and the blowers were on and fine when he started the car, When we picked up the car the blowers were fine, drove the car home, it sat idol for 3 hours then when I drove it again the blowers wouldn't come on, Again no lights, no nothing. Just tried the car now, and the blowers all lit up like normal, and worked fine, Does anyone know what the issue could be? It seems to be intermittent, 1 minute absolutely fine, then the next there is nothing at all, no lights no warm or cold air, Please help as only bought it today and would like to have an idea before taking it back to the dealer, Much appreciated.

Couple of questions regarding my 2010 vauxhall insignia 2.0 CDTI S. Possibly related to each other. 1) whilst idle the rev meter fluctuates slightly . There are no rattles or unusual noises coming from the engine. What could be causing this? 2) when cruising in third gear the car stutters a bit. It happens when you maintain a constant speed, it feels like something may be blocked, the car doesnt lose power, it just stutters. This stops when you put your foot on the accelerator or brake. What may be the issue? Other than this the car is in good condition. Full service history, done 106k miles. Had timing belt and water pump changed at 100k. Thanks in advance

Answers

Sounds something like a sticky EGR . Try putting a good quality fuel/exhaust system cleaner through. RED-X type product mixed with a tank of fuel. Should cost less than a tenner a will probably sort the problem. MVW from Hampshire

While driving to work, the Coolant light came on and I noticed temp gauge had also spiked, a warning light came up that engine had also overheated, I immediately pulled over and stopped the car, checking for leaks etc, couldn't find any leaks but topped up coolant anyway just in case, but now the car will not start. Anyone got any tips? or is my engine blown?

Get the water pump checked. You may have done considerable damage but you may have been lucky. Needs looking at by a mechanic. MVW from Hampshire
