Hi All, I have an issue with my Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 CDTi ECO flex , I purchased it brand new zero mileage in Dec 2013. The issue's started in August 2014 , engine overheated , ran erratic cuts out error P2428.Breakdown called out reset engine management ran fine , so took into dealership for check all was well until Nov 2013 again same scenario same error message again dealership informed after breakdown reset engine management, again tested on diagnostic machine again released to me telling me issue resolved. Yes it was until January -February , on M62 fast lane peak time traffic , motorway police had to drag car to safe place as management locked the brakes , again same error same response from dealership only this time they told me they had replaced the exhaust sensor and two tyres as dragging had ruined them , so it most definitely should now be ok . Yesterday it happened again, same issue same error , got car booked in for yet another check. Now so far been lucky as my wife not driving , nor have I been towing caravan, I am tempted to change , to try , push Evans Halshaw to limit for very best part exchange like for like to resolve . Questions 1) Do I go ahead , 2) As my rights (over 6 months old ) have diminished can I demand new car like for like 3) Or do I cut my losses Would like advise please

My 2L Sat Nav CDTI Eco flex Insignia with 75000 on the clock has recently developed an intermittent problem. I can be driving at a round 70 mph and the engine cuts out with a message on the dash board saying service soon. I pull the car over to the hard shoulder turn the ignition key off and then on and the car starts without any problem, the car will then drive perfectly OK for an undetermined number of miles (could be 10 miles could be 200 miles) before it cuts out again. Had car looked at by local garage and they found the following when they put it onto their diagnostic machine: Injector high control circuit group 2 and Cylinder 4 pressure variation to high They recommended taking it to a Vauxhall dealer to have a software upgrade done to the ECM as part of a recall 13-R-025. The recall update has been completed by Vauxhall and the car was fine for about 150 miles and yes the engine has cut out again. Has anyone experienced the about problem and if so did you manage to get it fixed?

Hi there, I've had the same problem with my insignia. Took it back to the dealer and there going to sort it under warranty still, it's something to do with the turbo at the front of the car apparently and it's not holding the pressure correctly. The only thing is I've to pay £22 for a hose connector bit for it that the warranty won't cover. But I've the same issue, mostly happened when I accelerate n then when I let go of the accelerator it stops. Hope this helps. Supposedly it's quiet common in insignias for it to happen Daryl from County Antrim

Hi, I have an 09 plate 2ltr Insignia Exclusvi 160 and just serviced it for 40,000 miles after the service vehicle light came on. I deleted the service light but after 4 starts it comes on again. When it comes on there are 4 audio bongs. I see that Alex from Kent had a similar problem which turned out to be a glow plug and I will check them but the car is starting with no problems. I wonder about the audio warning. Has someone had this problem and solved it? Thanks for reading

Answers

Did the job myself, changed all glow plugs and deleted service light with low cost hand held fault reader All ok. Cost £60. Think possibly that the service light would have dissapeared without deleting. Martin from Gloucestershire

Have had the car for 3months now and for the 2nd time have gone to use the infotainment system and it says 'Audio off'. Cannot find how to switch it back on. Cannot get the system to play radio, cd, aux or bluetooth. The on button switches the system on but no sound comes out of it. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Hello, I did eventually manage to fix the infotainment system, but I am not quite sure how. I kept fiddling with switching the engine on and off and also the system. I also downloaded the manual but it did not help much. All I remember was using the indicator stick with the menu button on to flick through all of the audio and sounds settings and switch them off and then on again. It took a good hour to eventually get the system working. It might be worth giving a garage a call and asking to speak to an engineer over the phone. I have had to do that in the past with the Insignia for other problems and that has been helpful. Apologies for not really having a helpful answer but hand to heart I actually have no idea how I got the system working other than by fiddling for a while. Do let me know how you get on. Good Luck! Hi I also have the 09 and had the same problem but my temp gauge then shot up to the top and said a/c off. Car was ok for a day but the suddenly overheated and I actually had to have a whole new engine!!! That was three months ago and I am still having issues with it!!! NEVER BUY AN INSIGNIA!! Get rid as soon as poss before more problems start like mine! Kayleigh S from England

Hi, I trawled the internet and found that if the earth lead to the battery is loose then this could cause the problem. Had a look at the car and the terminal was loose, tightened and problem solved had no issue since. sorry you had such bad luck. Gavin from Buckinghamshire

I bought a second hand 59 plate Insignia SRI about 2 months ago. Seems to be a nice car but have had problems with the brakes. Every so often during a journey long or short when applying the brakes they don't engage. When applying the brakes you have to put your foot right to the floor to stop the car then the next time they are ok. I took it back and they bled the brakes but the same things still occur on a regular basis. Has anyone else had this problem and what was the outcome.

Hi with a machine, the plug in and reset? It goes off then after a few miles comes back on? Thanks Alex from Kent

I had the same problem and tried a few garages to get it reset. I eventually went to the Vauxhall dealer and had it checked. They told me there was a problem with one of the glow plugs and can only be reset when the problem has been fixed. Sure enough, had the glow plug replaced and reset successful. I'm not saying that it's definitely your glow plugs but that was the reason my service light kept coming back on. The Vauxhall garage did a system check and said that they can only reset the service light when the underlying problem is fixed. Whatever the reason. Good luck.
