I just bought this Vauxhall Insignia and did not notice till recently condensation in one of the front headlights. Is it because it`s been on a forecourt for a while or something else? (sri diesel)

My son has just bought a petrol 09 Vauxhall Insignia a week ago. I`ve been out to check the water, oil etc for him but in the water reservoir there is some oily brown stuff on the walls of the tank. What is this? The car runs okay and it`s not using water?

Hi. I over-filled my Vauxhall Insignias engine oil, drained it off and lots of smoke followed as I drove a short way and now it will not start. Does it have a cut out anywhere? (20ltr diesel)
Is the engine management light on or the service vehicle now light on? If so the car is in safe mode and won’t start but that is the least of your problems, If you put to much oil in a diesel it has devastating effects on the engine. Get in check by the dealer asap. Worse case is new engine. - Ryan from Cardiff

I have a problem with my Vauxhall Insignia`s dashboard lights. When set as per the instruction manual to low light setting they return to auto. The dashboard returns intermittently to full brightness even on a nice bright sunny day. I have stopped, switched off the engine, restarted the engine and gone through the procedure to return to low setting but to no avail. Does anyone have the answer? Thanks. (1.8)

I have a Vauxhall Insignia and the water temperature takes ages to get to 90 deg. It can take up to 15 miles before reaching temperature. It appears that the thermostat is open all of the time but the Vauxhall dealers say that it is normal for a diesel. (I don`t believe them). Any suggestions please? (sri diesel)
Mine takes about 3 miles to warm up 90c on the temp dial, if you have air con on its takes A LOT longer. Had mine on in early January and by the time it took to go to work which is 20 miles it still hadn’t reached operating temp 90c. Petrols warm up quickly due to the heat from combustion. - Andrew P from Yorkshire
I have a 2011 1.8 SRi petrol, which had the same issue. It definitely sounds like the thermostat. Ours was fine before the problem then suddenly took ages to warm up, sometimes never quite reaching 90 and fuel consumption was about 20% worse. Our dealer first said there was nothing wrong and only on the second visit and some insistence did they replace the thermostat. Now it is fine. Ours was under warrantee, which is good, because they are about £100. - Steven Ward from Surrey

I have occasional problems in the winter months with condensation on my Vauxhall Insignia`s rear window, only late in the day, never in the morning and only the rear window. My Vauxhall Insignia chugs when driving. The engine light comes on and the screen on the dash says service esp. Can anyone explain please?
The same has happened to mine today. It also happened a few months back and came back to be a faulty lamber sensor. You will need to take it to Vauxhall for a diagnostics reading. They will charge £53 for the investigation and further money for the repair. - Stewart Dingley from Hertfordshire

Hiya. Recently I bought a Vauxhall Insignia which has a built in fly-audio multimedia centre. It can play dvd, mp3 through usb flash card, sat nav, bluetooth hands free but the point is it`s not giving any sound through the speakers. The time is ticking if you`re playing a dvd or speaking with somebody but I can’t hear them, although apparently they hear me perfectly. If I press to play the radio or mp3 on below integrated cd300 player the sound`s coming out perfectly. Does anybody have any ideas? Could it be a fuse or some cable splitter? (Cdti Sri 2.0)

I have a Vauxhall Insignia and I think my petrol reader is off and is not reading properly. The yellow light would come on at 38 miles to give you a warning, but my petrol light is on and is saying the likes of 48 miles left in the tank. I’m not too sure if it is off reading or it’s just me freaking out. Would anybody know anything which would cause this please? Thanks.
The fuel low warning light should come on when there is a set amount of fuel left in the tank. You seem to be looking at the meter showing how many miles are left rather than the fuel level. The number of miles left is calculated based on the fuel level and the calculated mpg. If the mpg is higher the miles left will be higher when the fuel level warning comes on. Nothing to worry about. - Neil from England

I recently got a Vauxhall Insignia 160 eco flex 2ltr which is 3 years old, but I’ve noticed an annoying noise when changing gear. Sounds like bang bang or clunk clunk, like something is loose and moving around. I`ve never driven one before. Is this normal or has anyone else had the same problem?

Look towards the headlight dial to the right of the steering wheel, there are two more smaller dials that slide up and down. One of them adjusts headlight height and the other interior dial brightness. - Trevwar Swanson from England

Get it serviced I guess!!!!! Mark Mark from England
If the (service now light) is on you have a fault with the car get it plugged in to a diagnostic computer and see what it brings up. Don’t ignore the problem it will only get worse and can cause other problems. - Ryan from Cardiff

I have a Vauxhall Insignia 60 plate. Sometimes when I turn the steering wheel to the right it makes a screeching noise. Also the last few mornings when I started the car the low battery light came on the panel. Any ideas? Thanks.
Had same problem on my 09 1.8sri. It was low power steering fluid caused by a leak in a pipe (fluid visable in sub-frame), replaced it (dealer part) and no problem since. - Anth Gorringe from England

How do you remove the cover off the battery to allow me to jump start my Vauxhall Insignia?
Place your left hand at the front of the battery cover (towards the front of the car), then with your right hand yank up the rear of the holder and it should swivel up on the two pins, then just slide it up. Hope this helps. - Albert Webster from Aberdeenshire

I have a Vauxhall Insignia Elite diesel. I was driving out on the road and a car stopped in front suddenly so I applied the brake, but when I went to drive off the car would not go over 30 mph. I parked it up and tried it again 3 hours later and it was back to normal, but after a mile it did the same again. The service soon light came on but the car is 5k short of needing a service going by the service book. Any suggestions what is going on?
I think you will find that the Diesel Particle Filter (DPF) is blocked and causes the car to go into ’Limp Mode’. My dealer sorted it for me and suggested that every now and again drive in a lower gear than necessary, e.g 60mph in 3rd gear to blast it out. I didn’t know anything about this problem as it’s my first diesel engine car (Insignia sports tourer). - Ray Hilliard from Lincolnshire

Hey, I have the same model and also have Haynes manual and I myself cannot see any other connection for a hose/pipe to fit, so I do think it most likely to be that. - Chris Gallagher from Buckinghamshire

Hi, I have a Vauxhall Insignia 1.8 and the engine management light is on. After driving for a while in my Vauxhall Insignia in traffic I am having problems changing down from fourth to third to second. It feels like there is pressure behind the stick, like something is pushing against the action. Changing back up is not a problem. This only happens periodically and although still under warranty I’m concerned that my local dealer will fob me off. Any ideas? (SRI)

I`ve just had my Vauxhall Insignia serviced by a non dealer garage The service airbag code has come on. My local dealer says it needs investigating but cannot say how long it will take. My Vauxhall Insignia`s engine management light has been coming on and usually going out again within a few hours. This time it has been on for two days. As well today I`ve had a slight misfire that is intermittant. At the same time this happens the warning light e=for a slippy surface comes on for a few seconds. Also the engine management light flashes on and off then stays on. The car has been running fine until now. Will I do damage if I continue to drive with these faults? (5 door hatch)

I have just picked up a new Vauxhall Insignia and paired my nokia lumia 800 to it. It won’t work properly and also all of my phone records and messages have been removed for the past 5 days. Has anyone else had this problem or is it best just to disable the car bluetooth and use a proper headset? It must surely be safer than fiddling about with the unreliable system.
