Vauxhall Insignia

Hi there, New here and would really appreciate any help. I have a vauxhall 2.0CDTI sports tourer. It has 86000 miles on it. Lately the car alarm keeps going off at different times of the day or night. I was in a garage the other day and when they plugged into it, it said it was the bonnet. I upgraded my lights to xenon and it was the ballest causing the problems with the bonnet. So rectified this and taught that was it. However the alarm keeps going off. Any help or advice please. I would be very grateful. Thanks Kev

Vauxhall Insignia

In 2011 I bought a new Insignia with a dual fuel LPG system..I did 102k miles in it and during that time had to have numerous new head gaskets, thermostats, water pumps and eventually a complete new engine.the engine has just given up again and Vauxhall say I need another new engine and as it is out of its extended Warranty they will not cover it.the car had been correctly serviced and Vauxhalll have never implied Any negligence on my part but are unable to come up with any reason why this vehicle has been so jinxed. I am now in messy legal territory involving the fiancé company and wonder if anyone has had similar problems As I need to establish there was an inherent fault from time of purchase.

Steve Smith, Lancashire

Vauxhall Insignia

I have an Insignia 2.0 CDTi SRi tourer and less than a year ago had a new set of glow plus fitted following repeated warning 'Service Vehicle Soon' on the dash. After driving on the motorway today in very heavy rain the car lost power for the rest of the 30 mile journey. Could one of the new glow plugs have developed a fault? After leaving the car for an hour or so, I now get the Service Soon message but powe seems to have returned to normal! Can anyone help?

Answers

In my experence a faulty glow plug will not affect peformance, only the starting of the vehicle. The only job the glow plug does is to make the first injection of diesel into a vapour to aid the car's first "bang" so to say.Apart from getting it plugged up to a computer to see if there are any fault readings and depending on the mileage it could be a number of things, blocked EGR valve etc.If the problem does not come back I wouldn`t worry. Lee from South Yorkshire

Just a slight correction to previous answer, the glow plugs are pressure sensing and work on and off as you drive to help with emmissions so not like the old style plugs hope this helps jim jim wright from County Down

I have a 2012 insignia ecoflex sports tourer, when driving steady at 70 - 80 mph in the rain or heavy spray the car momentarily holds back for around 5 - 10 seconds, quite unnerving, doesnt happen in the dry, you can put your foot down but nothing changes, once cleared everything fine, no fault codes appear, been to Vauxhall nothing showing on their laptop. I know in order to gain more fuel consumption and lower emmisions, Vauxhall have redesigned the undertray to improve aerodynamics, just wondering if the air is being channeled into the engine bay more and when wet/damp may be affecting the air intake side off things, would appreciate anyone else who is encountering same problem. Thanks

Hi all..... I have an Insignia 2.0 Cdti Sri ( 160 ) 2011 with only 30,000 miles on the clock.....took it to my local Vauxhall Dealer for a full service at 29,500 miles. Told them while it was in could they find out why it rev's to 2,000 rev's between 3rd & 4th upto 4/5 times a day, they told me that it's due for a software update and that would probably cure the problem..... Yes it did cure the problem between 3rd & 4th but now rev's above a 1.000 rev's everytime i start the engine. After Speaking to Vauxhall on the phone, they said that it it supposed to do that....but when i said that it never did that ever before, they said it could be the updated software......... Does anybody have a clue cos i'm none the wiser !!!! Thanx

Hi. Does anyone know why I keep hearing a quiet long beep when I brake? Seems to be coming from back passenger side. Sometimes it just comes on without the brakes. I thought it was to do with speed sensors but dont even know of my car has it or if its turned on. There also seems to be a low pitched humming noise coming from the car when its locked and just stood there overnigh. Any clues please?

Answers

Regarding the brake noise you mention, it is most likely to be the audible wear warning indicator which is activated when the brake pads reach a certain thickness. You need to have your brake pads checked by an auto mechanic as soon as possible. The hum, I don't know about. I don't think I have it on my Insignia. Spook from Cheshire

if had service id assume they changed oil. id first dip oil to check its level. then reset oil level to 100% on dash. see if its that. they might have forgotten to reset it at garage if no vauxhall service. jay from Kent

Can I put a Diesel engine in my petrol car I need more power to pull a caravan ?

Answers

Yes, but don't. It`s more hassle than it`s worth. Not only do you have to consider engine and fuel, but there are brakes etc that will need to be checked are okay. You could spend as much on changing it than you would getting another car. Converting to LPG maybe a cheaper option, but I`m not sure if that will give you more power. You can also get your car`s ECU remapped. That may be more suitable and a lot less grief. Chris. from Cambridgeshire

My headlamp main beam stopped working so I purchased a new bulb but it still wouldn`t work. I took it to a Vauxhall garage, they did a test and the relay showed to be faulty - £240 but what can you do so I said go ahead. New relay switch was put in and no fault diagnosed but still it did not work so I was told it must be the headlamp £600. This I thought was a joke and said that I could not afford that and to put it all back the way it was. decided to look for part myself and then have it fitted. I found a part but when I picked up the car the Vauxhall garage said that they did not know if this was the problem and now I have to decide whether to go ahead and spend £300 and if it doesn`t work lose it, or go with the Vauxhall garage and risk having to pay £600 if this is it or more if it is something else. Also now the old relay switch is back it is showing no fault. Does some-one know what other fault could be causing this? All other lights on the headlight are working, only dipped beam is not.
