The light that show the current shift in an automatic transmission gear does not light with other dash board lights, in such way to indicate if P, R, N,...etc. is selected, therefore, at night, you cannot see which shift you are in. It is a new car just purchased from the dealer. Is there a special setting for this issue or it is a faulty light or burned fuse issue?

Vauxhall Insignia

Hi, so I don't know about cars so ignore any ignorance terms.. While driving I started to hear a grinding noise, and getting a strong smell of burning rubber.. Looking in my engine bay I discovered the bottom cog/wheel was grinding on something and causing sparks, as I accelerate you can hear the cog grinding... the cog itself is out of shape now and badly damaged, will be going the garage first thing in the morning, but is replacing any of those cogs/belts an expensive job? Thanks

I haven't used my 2010 1.6 Insignia SE, (Petrol,) for a couple of weeks & left it with the "dead lock" activated. On returning to it I found the battery was completely flat & the central locking fob will not operate the locks. I've tried the key in the drivers lock but that wont work either, also changed the battery on the fob just in case. I need access to the engine compartment to get power to the battery. Can I lift the bonnet in some way from the outside or get power to the battery some other way?

Hi, My insignia keeps losing power when I accelerate hard, it seems to go into limp mode, nothing shows on the dash as an error but I am defo in limp mode, I turn my ignition off then back on and it clears until I accelerate hard again. It went into an auto electrician and he said it was over boosting but didn't seem to sort it? I need my clutch doing soon but I'm sure this has nothing to do with it.

Answers

Could be your turbo boost control sensor but would normally generate a fault code like P0325 or similar. Have you had the vehicle scanned for fault codes? Hugh from City of Glasgow

Hi yes he put it on the laptop and he said it was over boosting. Wayne Walker from Yorkshire

Had same problem but was caused from a split in the passenger side intercooler hose. Check this hose isn't split before shedding out loads of money on diagnostics and boost control valves. As soon as I changed hose problem solved out of limp mode back to full power. Kevin from Surrey

Vauxhall Insignia I've had temperature warning symbol, ( Engine overheating, turn off engine), display on dash. First visit to garage reset codes running for approx two weeks, then same again. Coolant tank full, no obvious leaks from radiator, flow & return pipes, or water pump. I could do with some more info if possible before it gets too expensive!! help. I cannot start the car now

Answers

I, l tell u exactly what the prob is . Its the exhaust gas temp sensor. It goes wrong . Sends a signal to the ecu . It panics sends u engine temp off the red . All power lost . Engine knocks like hell because the system dumps deisel into the dpf to do a regen that it dont need . It finds its way back up the header pipes and into the cylinders hence the knocking. Its bad deisel knock . Re set the fault code and alls ok for a few wks . Then out the blue it does it again. Mines done it 3 times despite my main dealer saying they had sorted it . Ive had enough now so its going a journey. Pete m . from Tyne and Wear

You will probably find that it's the exhaust gas temp sensor which is located in the dpf . Replace or remove and clean then do a regeneration of the dpf. This happened to me and now all ok . Hope it works for you Robert Bayley from Kent

Good evening I have a 2010 Insignia Exclusiv 2.0 CDTI... i bought it in March this year, had it into 2 different garages to look at Diagnostics for the car symbol with the horizontal spanner on the dash. They both have read 0 codes on it and deleted it, yet it keeps coming back...i have bought my own and it also reads 0 codes and shows up again once deleted. Can anyone shed any light, when i start the car it bleeps 4 times and then thats it. i also get a slight loss in power every now and again, wether that could be involved in my problem or not i dont know. kind regards

Answers

I had that problem. Check the big air hose on passenger side of engine for splits. Dead easy to replace and easy to find cheap OEM part off the net. If it is that hose, you access it through the fog light trim on the front of the car. Mark from Worcestershire

We have a Vauxhall Insignia ecoflex. The car is a 63 plate and has over 100,00 miles. We have been having some issues where the car has been going into limp mode. This has happened 4 times and each time the diagnostic machine suggested that the issue was with the fuel sensor. The mechanic has cleaned the fuel sensor and then the car has been operational again. It seems to run ok for a few weeks then happens again. The last time it happened the fuel sensor didn't have any dirt on it at all. but going through the process of cleaning it seemed to resolve it. Any way fast forward to 2 weeks late when it happened again we decided to replace the fuel sensor, (over £200.00) thinking that there was a fault with it and that that should resolve the issue once and for all. But alas, this morning back into limp mode. Going to ask the mechanic to put it back on the diagnostic machine to see if its the same code. But don't really know what to do next. We through that maybe these was a problem with the wiring lume, but he says he has checked that. The car gets serviced regularly.. Can anyone suggest anything....all help appreciated... Thanks

My 2010 Vauxhall insignia nav cdti has a fan problem the display keeps going off but the fan keeps on I don't know what setting is on as the controll buttons stop working any idea what this might be its driving me crazy as it randomly comes back on

Answers

I had a similar problem on my 2010 insignia SE, then the "service warning" came on. I found out that it was the thermostat that had seized/jammed or the sender was faulty & therefore the fan was being told to cool the engine down even just after stating up. I had to replace the whole thermostat housing as they wouldn't sell me just the thermostat/sender . It cured the problem though, hasn't happened since. Paul Atkin from East Riding of Yorkshire

I realized there's water in driver front and rear doors. How to drain water out as it makes annoying sound while vehicle is moving

Answers

In the doors at the bottom there are rubber vents to allow water to drain out. You can remove these rubbers and wiggle about as sometime debris blocks the drain hole and the water should run out. Remember to put the rubbers back when done. OvertBigRobD from Gloucestershire
