so one of the keys has broken, the key blade just fell out because the thin metal casting on the 'flip' mechanism has broken. I bought a new plastic fob with a blank key blade and flip mech from ebay and taken it all apart and re-fitted, so now I have the original key blade and electronic circuit board in a new plastic fob and flip mechanism and all looks the business. the new fob unlocks/locks the car and sets the alarm BUT the key will not start the car and an error message shows up on the dash stating " Security system activated" and a little yellow padlock appears when I turn on the ignition. I have tried resetting the fob by putting the key in the ignition and turning to position 2 and pressing the fob buttons, but it does not work. Can anyone help? (I have a spare key which still works fine)

my 2009 insignia has developed a problem with lack of power. It will drive reasonably well keeping engine revs down, but when i accelerate it feels like its dragging, although it will eventually build up speed. the engine management light is on. i had this removed by a garage but a short time later it came on again.on reading the letters in this website it could be that the air sensor is faulty, however it,ll be an expensive guess if im wrong.im thinking i,ll get a full diagnostic check done which wont be cheap.hears hoping they come up trumps.if im successfull il i,ll put in post if anyone is reading this i would appreciate their views

i have a 2009 insignia and also a few months ago mine developed the same problem as yours i took it to my friend who is a mechanic and it said air flow sensor on his machine so we changed that and a few days later the light came back on so i went down to my local vauxhall dealer and the parts manager asked the mechanics in there if any other problem comes up besides air flow sensor and they said you always have to change the turbo inter cooler pipe as they have never changed the air flow sensor yet on any insignias so i bought an after market pipe my friend fitted it and cured problem straight away power back and management light took off runing fine now so chenge pipe and you should be up and runing in no time regards paul h paul h from Derbyshire

Paul H is totally correct, the pipe often splits through wear n tear in the rubber, only shows itself when it gets hot. Power escapes, car slows to a crawl when split in pipe expands. bill warby from North Yorkshire

Came back to my insignia after a month away working. Battery was flat. Jumped it no probs. Next day same thing jumped it again. Checked battery it was charging no probs. Came back from working away again, same problem. Now I have red light on the top of the dash like a half egg. Close the car door with the half egg light up. But if I don't lock the car no probs? Can you help?

Answers

Some cells in your battery have broken and short circuited! The battery box is very close to the Turbo and after you switch off the car, the heat from the Turbo cooks the cells and dries they out so you loose the full power of the battery and the voltage drops to a level were the main ECU fails to function properly. My battery failed exactly 2 years an 1 month, exactly the same problem..electrics start to do strange stuff.....Get a battery test done! Phil from Worcestershire

Car keeps going into limp mode nearly had an wagon in my boot any way to take this off

Answers

Lynne, it seems many Vauxhalls have this problem.. and there is a good chance it is related to the turbo actuator not operating properly when you accelerate... you put your foot on the pedal and the actuator sticks a little.. the sensors send their messages to the car's computer which thinks there's a problem with the turbo and hits the limp mode to protect the engine. It needs a clean and lubrication. However, there may be another fault which for peace of mind you should get the car plugged into a diagnostic machine R Evans from Caerphilly

It could be something as simple as a cylinder head temperature sensor. I had this fault on a Jag, and it was not initially picked up on a diagnostic check either. Kevin Dootson from Greater Manchester

hi i got 2011 insignia few days ago on my das parking brake light came up and than emissions light. i having problem withe loss of power some time lights goes and come and when it comes car suddenly loss power like vaccum then get power sloely. please advise me what to do and the service vehicle soon massage on the das as well. thanks

Answers

If the service light comes on, the service is overdue, not due soon. The other light and power loss may relate to sticking turbo actuator or dirty egr valve.. have them cleaned and lubricate the actuator rod... then should have any fault codes in ecu checked and if necessary cleared. My engine suddenly cut out, I pulled over and started the engine again and 10 minutes later it cut out again, once again I pulled over and the engine started but this kept happening every 10 minutes. I took it to our local Vauxhall dealer and they said it isn't showing up on the computer. They kept the car for the weekend to test it. Guess what it never happened. Nearly a month later it's started to happen again. Any ideas what's wrong

Cooling fan comes on when started then goes off after a while then keeps cutting in and out. Has had thermostat housing replaced , wiring and plugs and terminals clean and not bent. No coolant leaks suspect one of two relays in fuse box but not sure of location as not listed online or in hand book. The Vauxhall dealer had thought it was the thermostat previously but didn't fix it so was refunded. If there maybe another common issue would like to find out very annoying.

bought my 2011 insignia 2lt cdti 160 a couple of mounths ago ,and as yet seems to be running well, except, their seems to be a kind of rumbling noise from underneath, which is more noticeable at lower speeds now i know the vauxhalls diesels arn't known for thier refinement, but im getting a bit worried im pretty sure its not the engine, the noise sounds like a rumbing/scrapping sound, im thinking perhaps a dry wheel bearing , or is the gearbox low on oil, or could it be the dreadid clutch i'd be glad if anybody could help with this issue.

When I start my car and it is idleing there is a noise from what sounds like timing belt if that is what it is called it sounds like a whirring noise what could it be

Answers

If the sound you are describing is what sounds like the Engine over idling then yes there is a modification for this. The issue relates to a part of the Engine just under the bonnet at the front "vibrating". I had this issue for about 2 yrs until eventually a Technician identified it. john lee from Greater London
