Vauxhall Insignia

my 09 insignia elite has started playing up on me.Yesterday I was reversing and when I moved of forward, the reversing sensor kept on beeping.I could not stop it until I switched the engine of and restarted it again. Then I noticed my centre display panel was out and wont light up, unless I put on the radio. When I went to reverse again later on, a message came up saying "park assist" turned off and no beeping comes from either front or back sensors.I pressed the park assist button to activate it but no use, button flashes a few times but nothing changes and brief message park assist turned off and exclamation mark over the message.I tried to configure vehicle settings but when I select vehicle settings, a message comes up saying "setting to ignition only" and wont give me any other options.I also noticed if I release my seat belt while driving the belt alarm goes off as I would expect but it remains beeping if I put the belt back on again. It wont stop until stop and restart the engine. My mpg avg. reading seems to be erratic also, "going from 35mpg up to 40mpg " in a short space of time, something it never would do.I normally only get about 35 mpg from this insignia 160 .Has anyone out there had any of these problems or know what is causing them. Ps. On a separate matter for later, I can hear a whine developing from my gear box area. Only have this car 10mths and it has 86000 miles on the clock. I called to a Vauxhall mechanic that works on my car at vx garage and he never seen these faults with the dash and alarms.

I have a 2012 Vauxhall Insignia which makes a clunking or creaking noise when the steering is turned full lock to the right. It`s more noticeable after the car has been stationary for a while. I`m not sure if the problem is with the steering or the front brakes. Can anyone help? (2.0 SRi CDTi)

Answers

I had the same problem. It turned to be a serious and very costly one. Initial cost euro 2k which was reduced to euro 1k after car dealer and Vauxhall accepted that it was a rare issue and cannot be the driver’s fault. The basic steering wheel system had been changed. I hope it is something else in your case, but visit the dealer ASAP to identify the issue. John from Greece

I have recently had a diagnostic check done by a local garage on my Vauxhall Insignia and was advised by them to go back to a Vauxhall dealer to have the problem checked out. The problem according to them is that the fuel pressure is not sufficient to the engine which is causing juddering and cutting out of the engine after trying to move off. Also when in first or second gear the car is juddering but once into third and upwards all is okay. Could this be the problem diagnosed or do you have any comment on another possible fault?

My car is 09 plate with 100k on the clock with full service history. Could it be the engine oil needs changing a few times to clear it out or could it be the oil sensor/switch? Hi. I over-filled my Vauxhall Insignias engine oil, drained it off and lots of smoke followed as I drove a short way and now it will not start. Does it have a cut out anywhere? (20ltr diesel)

Answers

Is the engine management light on or the service vehicle now light on? If so the car is in safe mode and won’t start but that is the least of your problems, If you put to much oil in a diesel it has devastating effects on the engine. Get in check by the dealer asap. Worse case is new engine. Ryan from Cardiff

I have a Vauxhall Insignia and the water temperature takes ages to get to 90 deg. It can take up to 15 miles before reaching temperature. It appears that the thermostat is open all of the time but the Vauxhall dealers say that it is normal for a diesel. (I don`t believe them). Any suggestions please? (sri diesel)

Answers

Mine takes about 3 miles to warm up 90c on the temp dial, if you have air con on its takes A LOT longer. Had mine on in early January and by the time it took to go to work which is 20 miles it still hadn’t reached operating temp 90c. Petrols warm up quickly due to the heat from combustion. Andrew P from Yorkshire

I have a 2011 1.8 SRi petrol, which had the same issue. It definitely sounds like the thermostat. Ours was fine before the problem then suddenly took ages to warm up, sometimes never quite reaching 90 and fuel consumption was about 20% worse. Our dealer first said there was nothing wrong and only on the second visit and some insistence did they replace the thermostat. Now it is fine. Ours was under warrantee, which is good, because they are about £100. Steven Ward from Surrey

Hiya. Recently I bought a Vauxhall Insignia which has a built in fly-audio multimedia centre. It can play dvd, mp3 through usb flash card, sat nav, bluetooth hands free but the point is it`s not giving any sound through the speakers. The time is ticking if you`re playing a dvd or speaking with somebody but I can’t hear them, although apparently they hear me perfectly. If I press to play the radio or mp3 on below integrated cd300 player the sound`s coming out perfectly. Does anybody have any ideas? Could it be a fuse or some cable splitter? (Cdti Sri 2.0)

I have a Vauxhall Insignia and I think my petrol reader is off and is not reading properly. The yellow light would come on at 38 miles to give you a warning, but my petrol light is on and is saying the likes of 48 miles left in the tank. I’m not too sure if it is off reading or it’s just me freaking out. Would anybody know anything which would cause this please? Thanks.

Answers

The fuel low warning light should come on when there is a set amount of fuel left in the tank. You seem to be looking at the meter showing how many miles are left rather than the fuel level. The number of miles left is calculated based on the fuel level and the calculated mpg. If the mpg is higher the miles left will be higher when the fuel level warning comes on. Nothing to worry about. Answers

Get it serviced I guess!!!!! Mark Mark from England

If the (service now light) is on you have a fault with the car get it plugged in to a diagnostic computer and see what it brings up. Don’t ignore the problem it will only get worse and can cause other problems. Ryan from Cardiff

That alarm actually means there is a fault on the car, not that it actually needs a service strange I know.. The fault code hp needs to be read as it could be a thousand different problems, mine had this alarm and I had a glow plug fault. Only a garage can determine the problem. I have a Vauxhall Insignia Elite diesel. I was driving out on the road and a car stopped in front suddenly so I applied the brake, but when I went to drive off the car would not go over 30 mph. I parked it up and tried it again 3 hours later and it was back to normal, but after a mile it did the same again. The service soon light came on but the car is 5k short of needing a service going by the service book. Any suggestions what is going on?

Answers

I think you will find that the Diesel Particle Filter (DPF) is blocked and causes the car to go into ’Limp Mode’. My dealer sorted it for me and suggested that every now and again drive in a lower gear than necessary, e.g 60mph in 3rd gear to blast it out. I didn’t know anything about this problem as it’s my first diesel engine car (Insignia sports tourer). Ray Hilliard from Lincolnshire
