My 04 corsa 1.0 makes a whirling humming noise when driving but more when the accelerator is not down. It's more in the first couple of gears. Is this healthy or could it progress into something more serious? Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Lee

I have a 2008 opel corsa D 1.4 petrol manual transmission that has an unbalanced idle that hardly lasts without my foot on the accelerator, and if let to idle dies and when driven once I brake at an intersection the car stalls,no fault codes from an opel dealer could be obtained, lately at instances the accelerator stops responding when brake is pressed, the accelerator has a sensor that communicates with the throttle at the engine.which has a six pin connector, and I noticed the butterfly keeps shaking when it has this (rough)idle,as well it misses at instances when the accelerator is moved up or down,I seek help on this problem,I wish to run a check on any voltages between the pedal and the six pin connector as well as the ECU,anyone with the correct voltages could be of great assistance or else I might need to replace blindly and change the throttle unit from the engine as I have done with the accelerator pedal, thank you

Hello so i have bought this car as my first car of a private seller. when i purchased this car it had just been put through its MOT in feb 2016 and had done 34000 miles so all in all a good little runner. A month later and its all gone wrong. MY BACK BOX on the exhaust has eroded, so that needs replacing and fitted. MY DIALS AND ELECTIRCS keep loosing POWER when driving im having to bang on the dash to get them to come to life again. I am constantly filling it up with water as i think i have a slow leak somewhere and now it decides to not start FIRST,SECOND,THIRD TIME, it just starts chugging the cuts out... when i do get it started it drives okay but this morning i reversed put my parking bay and it cut out then cut out again whilst driving down a country lane. i know this is an old car and would like some advice on whether to get it all fixed and serviced. what the total cost would be from anyone else's experience or whether to get a new car. Thanks Guys

Really strong smell of petrol inside of car

Answers

Expect you found the problem by now. Check the fuel line where it doubles back on itself near the top of the firewall just right of center and then goes to the throttle body. There should be a rubber sleeve over the point where it crosses the metal fuel line and retaining clip.. If the sleeve has been moved out of place the rubber line rubs on the metal fuel pipe and will fail. A pin hole but very noticeable fumes in the car. Jamie Brown from Bristol

Hi, I have a 2003 Vauxhall corsa 1.2. Sometimes when you turn on the ignition only two warning lights come up and no gauges. The car will start but cuts out immediately. Most of the time the car starts and all of the gauges are working and runs perfectly. Nothing comes up on the diagnostics test. What is the fault?

Answers

One of the biggest problem with intermittent electrical faults is diagnosing them... they can only be diagnosed when the fault happens.. and you can't always make it happen.. In the interim I'd be looking for loose wires or connections and corroded or dirty connections and loose plugs. Rule out what you can, It may come down to faulty ECU or console. I own an opel corsa 2004 it was ok until I suffered this problem as the car will not start if left for a couple of days . I changed the drained battery , checked the alternator and cables however after the new battery was connected I worked fine until I left it for 3days and the new battery was drained again have you any possibility what is the problem of my car best regards

Answers

If you have a security system,eg alarm/immobiliser/tracking device. It would be best you have them tested for drawing current when your vehicle is idle, these are generally the appliances that remain active even after you take your keys home.your battery may not be good enough as well, get it tested, the other suspect would be a malfunctioning alternator or atarter that is shorting out.-good luck Ottaviani from South Africa

Bought car with spanner light on, was advised that diagnostics had showed up nothing. I had it a day and found out that sometimes on start up there was nothing at all, no attempt tp turn over. When it did start it started dropping revs before coming to a halt on a hill on motorway, several attempts got it moving again but when home, found it would not restart at all. Whilst trying to start I noticed that as well as the spanner tool light, that a symbol F appeared also. Tried to do the "pedal test" but this did not work. Help!!!!

Hi there rat's chewed through my engine loom . wires we have tried fixing it its beyond repair si we brought two looms from the same car and the car still won't start iv phoned vauxhall along with several garages no one seems to want to push me in the right direction any help would be appreciated my corsage has the 4 plug at the end of the harness as most have 3 because the valve has been capped on most

Answers

Heln hello!! I have done. So many harness replacement on most cars here in RSA and there are things you need to do before replacement, test all your new harness for continuity before attempting to put into the car,you also need to take extra care to ensure your harness is not shorting. Within the loom, also do not attempt to connect. With your battery ON,and if u have attempted to replace anything like ECUihgnition key/barrel,Map sensor and Key settings module then you have to worry as you will have to recode /re configure your key settings otherwise there will be no comms between the. Vehicle and these units, please get in touch on my email and tell me more if yoou do not get any joy and furnish me with your current situation with disgrams on what you have/have not done,-good luck Ottaviani from South Africa
