Hi, I wonder if you can help? My Astra had to have a new engine, turbo, intercooler, egr etc last year .The engine ran on its own oil and wouldn’t stop. After having new engine fitted by a Vauxhall garage I returned several times as the car feels down on power to what it was, especially low down rev range. The garage has fobbed me off initially saying it’s a new engine, let it bed in... To now a year later... no engines are the same! I am wondering if it may have a slightly blocked catalytic converter, especially knowing that the engine before destroyed itself on its own oil. I would appreciate your advice and opinion.

This is a fuse that has blown. You need to locate it! It’s a red fuse with only a yellow fuse next to it, they are on their own in the fuse box. Should be bottom right? - Mike from England

During recent cold weather the engine froze, causing one of the water caps at the bottom of the engine block to push out. After thawing I replaced the cap and refilled the coolant system. Over the next two days, during short distance trips, more and more white smoke appeared out of the exhaust. The next time I tried to start the car it billowed out smoke and failed to start after ten attempts. I have changed the oil completely and am now attempting to restart. The engine has ceased somewhat so I am manually turning the crank shaft to free the pistons. This is working and I am achieving complete rotation of the shaft and each time I turn the car over it comes closer to ignition. As I am doing this mucky oil/water is leaking from the exhaust gasket at the engine block connection. Any advice would be gratefully received, is it worth continuing to try to fire it up? Do you think that there is a major breach between the water and the oil reservoirs? Why would anyone buy a white, m-reg, automatic Astra? Does anyone want to torch it for me?!! (Automatic)

Hi, my 09 Vauxhall Astra 1.4 3 door hatch petrol feels funny when pulling away slow and it as if I’m doing a wheel spin with the wheels not spinning lol! Is this the clutch and if so how much would it cost to be fixed? While I am here... I’ve had this car from new for 2 years and I’ve had it in Arnold Clark a load of times for my car just cutting out as if I’ve stalled it when I know I haven’t or the car not turning over 1st time, like last week, my car wouldn’t start after trying for 20 minutes and even though everything in the car was working, the lights were bright as they always are. I got a jump start but it still wasn’t turning over so I gave up then tried to turn it and it turned over. Anyone else get this? I took it to Arnold Clark about 4-5 times and they say the car’s fine and charge me £60 for a hour for looking over my car, which is covered by warranty, because they found no problem...

The fuel light came on so I refuelled immediately. The "range" continued to display along with "refuel " on the computer display. The amount of miles I had left to travel remained the same before I had filled up. When refuelling, does it not reset itself and if not then what do I need to do for it to correspond with my fuel gauge?

The engine management light on my Vauxhall Astra comes on when I am waiting in traffic, also the temperature gauge goes up and the engine noise dips constantly. When this happens the headlights dip and so do the dashboard lights. I have checked the basics but can’t see anything wrong. What can this be and how can I fix it? Thank you.

Just had an alternator replaced on my Vauxhall Astra 2005 diesel turbo. Everything seems to be running smooth apart from the brakes are so stiff all of the sudden. Had brake pads replaced only last month but honestly I am almost unable to brake because it’s that stiff, what could this be? Before alternator failure, the braking was absolutely fine.
