On my Toyota Auris, when changing gear the engine does not slow down as normal but continues to race, making it seem like bad driving or the throttle obstructed by the mat. I have asked the dealer to check this, and after checking the car in the workshops they said it’s quite normal! And said I would just have to get used to it! This is the first car or indeed engine that I have had where this is normal. I wonder, is there some form of modern engine control system or gismo that causes this problem? And if it is quite normal?
