There is a metal clanging sound coming from the front driver side under the bonnet or from the wheel area. The sound is unpredictable, it doesn’t happen when I go over bumps and mainly occurs when turning sharp corners or am going slowly through traffic in gear 1 juggling the clutch and throttle. The sound is quite loud, people in the street can hear it and it just sounds like I’m going over a metal pot hole. If anyone has had this problem before and had it resolved I’d love to hear. The car has done 5,000 miles. (RS250 RECARO CUP CHASSIS)

Where to start? Yesterday my Renault Megane II 2.0L has started to make a loud whirring sound when accelerating quickly, sounds like it may be coming off the timing belt? Also, for a while now, it has been jerking when accelerating quickly, when the turbo kicks in. Also, my ESP and ABS lights are on permanently. I need help, my car needs help... Don’t know how many other things will break before I will have to start walking to work. (2.0-litre 16v).

Thanx for the reply Neil. Found the problem. Turbo core assembly. The exhuast end of the turbo was stuffed full of what was left of the turbo spindle and core assembly. It had sheared off completely. Got a new turbo, and refit. DIY job for about R6000. Renault quoted R16 000. Wimpie de Beer from South Africa

My Renault Megane starts OK but when I first stop the car in the morning it loses revs and cuts out (like I’ve stalled the car) but when I start it again it goes OK and i don’t have any more problems with it. Has anyone else experienced this?

The signal going to the speedo comes from the ABS system. It’s an average of the four wheel speeds. Most likely a wheel speed sensor gone down. Get it plugged in then replace the offending sensor - Steve J from England

Try www.radiocode.it for radio code, it might work. You need the serial numbers of the radio so you will need to take it out. Failing that there are forums that guys are on and will get the code for you - Pat from Clackmannanshire
