Hi. My lights on my Renault Megane Coupe won`t come on and sometimes it runs smoothly but other times it feels like the car is tired, even when I`m not thrashing it but everyday driving. When driving today the car feels smooth but other times it idles roughly, but it doesn`t splutter when I pull away. Any suggestions? (225 Sport)

Hi. I recently purchased a 2010 Megane Coupe petrol car. When I’m in my car the rear lenses mist up. I took it back to my dealer they said "they are not sealed to the atmosphere". I called Renault and they said its normal... please can you help? Thanks.

Hey, it is a comon fault with them and Renault will not do anything with them. I have the same problem and all I do is remove them from the car by unscrewing them from inside the hatch in the boot and drying them out with a hair dryer and they are fine - Owen from Lanarkshire

Why does my Renault Megane’s rear fog light indicator on dashboard come on when I press my brake pedal?
Answers
It may be incorrectly wired up, your foglight might be your brake light if you see what I mean - Ben Smith from Cumberland
Check that you have the correct bulbs fitted? Get a mate to watch what happens when you put your foot on the brake. If you get odd lights coming on or dull brake light then you may have a short at the contacts on the rear light unit. Check all the connectors are clean and working - Paul from Spain

Good day to you all. Can anybody help me? I have a Renault Megane 3 coupe, still under warranty. The engine starts stalling and I hear a big crank at the injector with a message saying "check injection". I took it it the dealer and they changed the fuel pump and 4 injectors. The car ran normally but after a week the same problem occurred again. It looks like the Renault dealer doesn’t know the problem exactly. Any help please? Many thanks (DCI diesel)
Answers
They did change the correct parts, however if the fuel lines were not cleaned or replaced then the metal shavings from your collapsed fuel pump have been sent down the fuel lines again and blocked the injectors - Liaml B from County Antrim

Water will not come out my washer jets even though the bottle is full and I can hear the motor working. Neither front or rear is working. Any ideas?
Answers
It could be a blocked filter in the washer bottle - Sean from Shropshire
If you use the wiper and you can hear the noise that they usually make, that rules out the washer motor. If not, it’s possibly the washer motor which controls front and rear washers - Jacinda McDowell from Australia

I have just bought a Renault Megane coupe GT line. Brilliant car but in the dull November day light I am struggling to read the speedo. The speedo background is a dull grey and the pointer is dull read, but is like looking in to a black hole. Yesterday was bright sunshine and with sunglasses on it is impossible to see the speedo without taking the glasses off. Is this a known problem?

My Renault Megane Coupe is sluggish, it splutters a bit and seems to drag and stalls if I don’t over rev it when pulling off. I’ve had it serviced, had the spark plugs and air filter checked and they’re OK. I was told it may need the throttle body housing cleaned. Is this a difficult thing to do or could I do it myself? Or could it be something else?

My son has put something in my ignition barrel now I can’t put the key in. Anyone know how to remove the ignition barrel?
Answers
Hmmm I love kids don’t you? Well it ain’t that hard if you have a key as you can access the bolt release from the barrel holder in the steering rack. This is done by removing the small torgue screw from the top, inserting the key, and turning it to position one or two and pushing the pins in you can then remove the barrel. That won’t help you and also I may have some bad news, the barrel is a sealed unit on most models. What my mate did was drastic but simple. Get a grinder, go to your local scrapy, cut off the barrel housing on the same year Renault (any will do, they’re all the same), order yourself a new key and barrel (with ignition lume) also door barrels to cut the barrel housing on your car, weld the scrapy one on and replace all your locks. PS. You will need to reprogram the immobiliser. In short, stop your kids’ pocket money for life - Jay from England

My girlfriend has a 2001 Reanault Megane coupe and about 3 days ago, the panel in the middle of the car which shows the time, track number, etc, stopped working. When I say stopped working, I mean that it doesn’t light up anymore. I’ve looked through the manual, changed all of the fuses but it still doesn’t light up and now she’s really making my life hell. Hi Shaun. You need to program the radio back into the car’s system and for this you will need the original code (4 digits). Without this, you will need to take it to your nearest Renault dealership who will charge you £25 to do it for you. Expensive and a nuisance but this is the only way. I’ve had my car 17 days and have noticed that the two rear light clusters have a slight misty condensation inside. I contacted dealer and was told this is normal that the fittings have drainage points and nothing to worry about when lights are switched on, this will dry them out. Also Renault will not replace them under warranty. Is this correct and can I push for this to be sorted? Thanks.
Answers
Hey dude, not sure if you still have the problem I had. All I did was remove the light cluster from the car from inside the boot. Unscrew them and dry them out with a hair dryer. Worked for me, cheers - Owen Mackie from Lanarkshire

My rear light clusters have slight condensation in them, I contacted my dealer and was informed that this was common and they will dry up once lights are on plus they have draining points so water can escape. It doesn’t sound right to me, should these not be sealed units? Also stated the Renault won’t honour warranty for this. Any advice please? Thanks.

John, I have a similar problem with my 2009 megane. Took it to the dealer and they said they tested them by dipping them in water and found no leaks. An odd way to test for air/vapour getting in but the result was like yours, they wouldn’t change the light clusters. Spoke to Renault UK who said I should expect some condensation - no mention of air holes to let water out. I agree with you that this just doesn’t sound right. The lights should be sealed units - like the front lights - and so no condensation should be present. I wonder if this is a common prpblem with these cars and Renault just don’t want to admit it. Renault UK said they are "we’ll investigate and get back to you within 48hrs" - I don’t hold out much hope though as I suspect they’ll not honour the warranty - Mike T from England
I have a Megane Coupe 2011, and I have the same problem!!! Was going to contact the main dealers but, having read your comments, I don’t think I’ll bother!!! It must be a common fault. I also have a driver’s side door mirror that was pulled off and needs replacing... Any suggestions on how it’s done??? Thanks - Daz O’Donnell from Ireland

I have a persistant water leak on driver side of car. I cannot locate cause of leak. I’ve hosed water over the car but cannot work out how it is getting into the car. Any ideas anyone?

Hi. I’ve had the same problem. The sunroof drainage tubes which outlet behind the wheel arch covers are blocked, it’s a common fault. Just remove the wheel, remove the arch cover and you should see your problem - a blocked drainage tube which may be caked up in muck but it’s there. A long thin screwdriver is good for clearing the blocked tube. Do both sides of the car and you should be fine. Also, if you have water coming from the sunroof console it’s the same drainage tubes causing the problem - Renault Migrane Owner from England

Hi, can anybody give me some feedback on this second hand motor that we picked up about 2 weeks ago? We went on holiday for 6 days and when we got back we found the front passenger side wet through. We first thought that a widow was left open but no, the water, on lifting the carpet and rubber had a pool over an inch thick and the wetness had extended back into the rear seat section? The Renault Megane Coupe has large bays under the bonnet and I think these fill up with water that isn’t properly evacuating from and out at the sides, so maybe the seals under this bay have been breeched? Anybody have any clues? Is it repairable through applying some kind of waterproof coating inside this bay? Many thanks, Liam. (16V MIRAGE)

I had this problem with another type of car - mine was the sun roof although it appeared fully closed and showed no sign of leaking it traveled along the inside of the waterproof cealing liner and found its way into the passenger well - Frank Edgar from Lancashire
The sunroof drainage pipes are behind the front wheel arches, you need to remove the wheel and the arch cover to gain access. They will be blocked and caked in all sorts. Do both sides. I had the same problem water from the sunroof console and last year 4" puddles in passenger footwell. This will fix water coming in from sunroof console and the water in the footwell. Do both sides - Renault Migrane Owner from England
I have been finding the car wet on the inside as well (mine is a 53 reg estate). I could hear all sorts of slushing sounds and eventually some water drip above the pedal area. What I have found is that there is a sort of drain pipe that runs from the plastic trim at the base of the windscreen to a point below the car. You can see from the engine side, and it is a soft black pipe about 20mm diameter. I unblocked it by adding water to it by splashing the windscreen, and squeezing repeatedly. Eventually it unblocked and flushed through - Edoardo from Nottinghamshire
