I have just bought this Renault Master ll35 dci ambulance. Everything looks and sounds good, but the engine struggles to get to 65 mph on the slightest hill and I have to go down to 4th gear to keep it at around 50 to 55 mph. It`s a 2.2 common rail engine. Can anyone tell me why? (Ambulance)

I’m trying to find the correct new alternator without having to take the old one off first. It’s a master II MM35 DCI (pre-facelift) 2463cc with A/C. Any numbers or ideas would be a great help. Thanks.

I bought a Renault Master. I tried it out on a long run, I drove it and the dealer drove it, it was absolutely fine. I bought it home (5 miles), parked it up for a few days waiting to get insurance. I then went to take it for its first journey and it wouldn’t go in gear, for except first and reverse. Any ideas anyone?

May not be the same vehicle but last year, my old Maestro had just passed its MOT. When I drove it away, I found it only had first and reverse gear. Took it back to the garage and they found that as it bumped over the brake test rollers the main gearbox link selector must have popped out of its socket. Got popped back in and it was fine. Maybe the Master has a similar linkage popped problem? - Bob from England

Can the headlights on a Renault Master be adjusted for France or do they have to be replaced?

When I start the engine I get a great plume of grey smoke coming out of the exhaust. It clears after a while. The engine takes a bit of revving to get it started. I was talking to friends and they suggested it could be the glow plugs that need replacing. i.e. the smoke coming from excess fuel being burnt. Does the 1.9 dci have glow plugs?

I am living in Ibiza with my UK reg Mater camper van. The towed trailer had faulty electrics, and failed in a rain storm, now on the van the door windows, mirrors, have stopped working and the indicator lights flash too fast. I have had it computer tested and also checked fuses with no faults showing up. So I have been advised that it could be the UCH body control unit. How can I test this and where to get a replacement. Thanks.

Where about is the windscreen washer motor situated on a Renault Master? And is it easy to change?
Answers
My windscreen washer failed on my 2008 Renault Master. I found washer pump at the bottom of the washer bottle in the engine bay.., I found it cheaper to leave pump situated in bottle and splice the pipe and inset a universal pump - use the wires that are already there. Hope this helps - Phil Davies from Herefordshire

I appear to have water dripping on to the engine from what I first thought was the bonnet bulkhead seal. However, on closer inspection, there seems to be small slots under the seal in what appears is a double skin. Is it normal for water to drain out of these slots on to the engine? (Panel Van)

Hi, I have a 2001 Renault Master 2.8-litre dti and it turns over OK but won’t fire to start. The immobiliser light stops flashing as it should when key is in the ignition. I have tried towing and jump starting but it is not working for me. Can anyone help? Thanks.
Answers
Is it pre-common rail? Have you bleed the fuel system and injector pipes? Is the vehicle fitted with a fuel impact soleniod, big black or red button mounted near fuel filter or on the rear of the bulk head in the engine bay depress the top and you will hear a slight click as it resets. Check fuses in both fuse boxes or on the rear of the injection pump, there is the immobiliser code box covering up a standard fuel pump stop soleniod, last resort cut it off and give the soleniod an ignition fead live. There are 6 wires which are used by the immobliser but only one supplies current to the soleniod, if the fuel pump soleniod has expired remove it take out the plunger, refit the body, rebleed and start. PS. You will have to stall it to stop the engine. The engine is the old Iveco 2.8 sofiam lump so you can get parts from either iveco or Renault but before you butcher the fuel system, check the timing of the engine. They do jump if they are tow started, timing it up is a piece of p*ss so don’t be put off. Good luck, merry christmas - Bill from kent

While driving my Renault Master normally, the power just cuts off with the engine still running. After a warning light came on "STOP", I switched off the engine and everything was normal again. Has anybody else experienced this? (3000cc)
Answers
2005 Renault Master, I experienced exactly the same fault on the 5 Dec 2011. On reading some other post it appears it can be a number of things, the cheapest to fix is a sensor on the front of the engine. Email me at gastech1@gmail.com and if I get it fixed, I’ll send you the solution, you can do the same for me - Tony King from Ireland
Sounds familiar, I have a Vauxhall Movano 2.5 cdti 2006. Same fault came up at random, sometimes within 2 miles or 50 miles. Sometimes losing power, sometimes stopping. Switch off then back on and fault cleared till next time. Had checks done with computer but no fault found. Eventually found the diesel filter top seal was not fitted correctly allowing air in. New seal fitted, no fault after over 2000 miles - Andy Wallace from Fife and Kinross Shires

My Renault Master was doing 32.8 MPG but is slowly going down day by day. It is down to 27.9, which is a major concern. There is no leak so that is not it. Please help, what might the problem be?!

I can only get reverse gear every now and then. Once it goes in, it goes in everytime until you put it in gear again and it stops going in again. I have fitted new clutch and slave, had gearbox apart and found no damage or wear. I’ve fitted new cables and changed gear oil and bled clutch off. The brackets which hold the cables are all good. I can’t find what it could be. Does anyone know? Thanks, Matty. (2.2 dci turbo diesel)

Hi, I have put petrol in my Renault diesel Master van. It’s a 2010. I tried putting a thin plastic pipe in and it would only go so far down. Does anyone know if there is somthing blocking it or has any idea where I could get a diagram of the fuel system? Thanks.

My friend had the same problem, it was easy to fix, you just pop the linkage back into its ball and socket connection (you’ll see it near the gear box). Get somebody to wiggle gear lever and have a look your self - John Mcintosh from Scotland
Yes mate, it has a anti-syphon filter half way down the fuel filler neck. Just drop the small pipe off the tank and drain it there - Kevan Parsisson from Derbyshire
