The clock / radio and temp on my Renault Laguna’s dash will not light up. I have checked all fuses and they are OK, is there anything else I should check before deciding to purchase a new unit?

Answers

Hi there John, I have the same issue. I can see the radio lights on the radio device coming on and can hear the CD but the screen display with the temp and radio will not come on. I took off the screen and checked every bit, did the fuses and all seems fine. I thought that the radio display may be broken but because this started when my battery was down due to snow and not using the car. But when I replaced the battery the radio came on! Accepted the code and all was fine until a couple of days later when the screen wouldnt come on again. It seems it is not just the display as I have tried to put the code in even if I cannot see but it doesnt accept it! Have you mamaged to work it out. It would help if you let me know! Thanks in advance. Email: tolisagro@gmail.com - Tolis Papas from England

Hi again, by pressing 2 and 5 buttons simultaniously and holding, then switch on the radio as you are still pressing and that should do a factory reset which sorts the radio playing. But beeping noise sounds and should be asking for the code. Still the display is off! Tolis Papas from England

Hi, I have a Renault Laguna and last year we had work done on our car and we had to have our key re programmed, as it wasn’t working. We were using the car up until a few months ago, the key was working to open and lock the doors but in the last few weeks it’s not working. Does that mean that our battery has simply died and needs charging or does the card need sorting again?? We can’t afford for the key to be done again as this cost over £150 and we need to sell the car. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Answers

And if there is anyone out there with a owners hand book willing to sell me a copy I would be very grateful as they don’t make them anymore. It’s for a Laguna 2 Expression 2005, the upgraded version. Hi, can anyone help? How can I lock my Renault Laguna if the keycard isn’t working?

Answers

Remove the key from your key card and insert it in the slot under the drivers or passengers door handle, there may be a cover over the slot. Some cars have a very faint embossed imprint of a keycard on the door handle - Eric Mac Taggart from Inverness-shire

The key will only unlock passenger front door, it does not work central locking - Sharon Jefferys from Northumberland

On the center console, next to the hand brake you will see, above the hazard light switch another swith. one side, towards the driver, has open doors, the other side has locked doors. If, when you are sat in the drivers seat, you press and hold until you hear the solid sound of all the doors locking, towards the passenger seat, the doors will then lock, you can still leave from the drivers door and then on closing it will be locked. This will not work if you leave from any other door or any other door is open when you try to do this - Chris Nichol from Lancashire

Sometimes when I change from 6th to 5th gear or from 5th to 4th, it doesn’t want to go. When this happens no gear would engage. I have to stop and then try to put it into first gear, after some struggle it is OK. When it has been parked overnight it would be a struggle to engage it in first or reverse gear. Sometimes when you change gears it is difficult to tell which gear it is in, 2nd or 4th, 3rd or 5th. The car is otherwise quiet, smooth and powerful with no known problem. How can I reset my airbags on my Renault Laguna? I have the warning lights on the dash. Or is there a common fault?

Answers

Sometimes the wires or the plug under the two front seats for airbag system comes loose, if switch under passenger or drivers seat is not locked in properly, then lock back in and put insulation tape round it. You need to find out which side the problem is on, take either seat out, 4 bolts size 16mm socket underneath car. Two near sill, other two directly across from outer two under a black rubber bung. But make sure battery is disconnected for 20 mins before touching switches! When done, connect battery and put ignition on and hopefully airbag light goes out,if not, then needs going on computer find what problem is, switches is common fault on Renaults, moving seats back and forward on runners does this! Hope this helps - Darren Roberts from Northern Ireland

Eric, did you manage to resolve this airbag problem? Steve Paton from West Lothian (Linlithgowshire)

Hi, I have the 04 Clio and this does not have a reservoir as it is a sealed unit! So if there is not one under the bonnet, I presume there is no reservoir. Hope this helps - Rich Cruse from England

Hi, your crankshaft sensor is located on the right hand side of your engine looking at it from the front just beneath the engine undersheild and is mounted by one 10mm headed bolt to the front of the gearbox. One 2 pin electrical connector runs to it,which is clipped on. Instead of buying a new one, a quick fix is to take it off and clean the small nipple end with a wire brush works every time and only takes half an hour from start to finish. Hope this helps - Lee Pendleton from Yorkshire
