Grand Scenic TomTom... today hazard warning lights activated accompanied by a beeping alarm. First time I deactivated by pressing the remote lock. Happened twice again this morning and pressing remote merely deactivated the beeping noise while the hazard flashing continues. I had to open the car and turn off the hazard warning lights. Also the battery was discharging and I had to leave the engine running to recharge. Any ideas what the underlying problem is?

Purchased 2011 GS tomtom less than a week ago, cd player has never worked even though radio works fine, any ideas? car was mot'd a week ago now the "check parking brake" comes on first thing in the morning and when leaving work at the end of the day, even though brakes are working fine with no problems. I have been reading blogs on this problem and am growing increasingly concerned that I am going to have to fork out a lot of money. Car was purchased from a main dealer and has 3 month warranty but I know that some of these warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. Please someone help

Hi, my Grand Scenic 1.5 diesel hydraulic clutch cylinder was replaced and a new battery fitted. When the car broke down, the clutch pedal went down and stayed down. I parked the car and switched the engine off and engaged into first gear. The recovery truck came and pressed the start button without putting the gear into neutral, it blew the fuse off the battery and the dashboard went off and never came back on. The electrician checked all the fuses and replaced the damaged fuse, but the dashboard (cluster instrument) is still off. I found this strange that the dashboard will need replacing due to an electrical fault as it is the 2nd generation 2009 model. Any advice or help is much appreciated. Many thanks

Answers

Chris, There was a known issue with the dashboard eletrics on Mk II Grand Scenics. I have an 05 plate where the dash went blank. Renault main dealer had to replace it for me as it is a Renault fault but due to the age and the mileage on the car I had to contribute £100 to the cost - not a bad deal. Take it to your Renault dealer and complain - good luck Ian from Northamptonshire

Hi, I bought a 55 plate Grand Scenic less than a month ago. Since we've had it we've had problems with the dash. It flickers on and off while you`re driving and everything resets. After speaking to the person we bought it from and being fobbed off constantly we had a huge problem this morning. My husband tried to come home after a night shift and the dash said "card not detected". After spending £220 on getting the car home we contacted the seller again and was told "sometimes this kind of thing happens and it`s completely unrelated to the dash problem", which is still on-going! I've found out that there is a fault with Renault dashboards and many cars have been recalled to replace the dashboard. I was wondering if anybody would know if it was at all possible if the problem with the dash (resetting all the dash settings daily) could have also caused the key card to also eventually reset, causing it not to work in the car anymore? Please help!

Hi I purchased a 10 plate May 2010 Grand Scenic 1.5dCi Privilege Tom Tom a few days ago. Everything was fine then radio stopped working. We think it is a faulty fuse but the handbook diagram does not match the fuse box. Has anyone got a diagram of the fuses or advice as to which one to replace. Thanks

We had the car towed by the RAC. As a result they released the electronic handbrake. This was all fixed and reset. Ever since when we go downhill (applying the foot break and not accelerating) the break warning light comes on. As soon as you accelerate it goes off again. How can I get rid if this and there seems to be nothing wrong with the brakes but an annoying message and beeping.

Hi. I've just bought this car with about 60,000 miles on the clock from a car dealer. It had a service done and new MOT certificate, but my question is when pulling away in first gear the car goes then jolts a bit then goes again, it`s fine in the rest of the gears while moving, it`s just in first when pulling off. Is this a problem I need to know while I`ve got 6 months warranty or is it just me? Thank you for your support

Can anyone help give a clue to my problem? My Grand Scenic automatic diesel 1.9 started to display fuel injection warning. Within driving another 2 miles the engine warning light came on telling me to stop. I did stop and park and I have left it on the road. Does this sound serious? The car has only done 20,000 miles. I know it will have to go into the dealership to get looked at but I just wondered if anyone has any thoughts on what could be happening? Many thanks

This problem could possibly be the diesel pump (black ball which is situated under the bonnet on the right hand side. We faced the same problem, squeeze it a few times and if this works it could have an air lock in the diesel pipes roger broughton from Staffordshire

A friend had a major problem last week. Her scenic (11 plate) had electronic handbrake failure, foot brake failure and the dash was showing airbag failure warning and all sorts of other warnings. She was stuck facing up a hill as the car was starting to slide down it backwards. She had spent 3 hour with her foot on the brake, but it was still sliding. The Police showed up and managed to chock the rear wheels to stop it sliding backwards further towards a T-Junction with a major road. It is now in a garage with them scratching their heads trying to figure it out. At the minute she can't work as she does security work and simply can't get to where the job may be.

My battery needs charging/replacing and I was going to do this at the weekend but I am a little scared of breaking something on the car given its reliance on electricity! Is the radio code the only thing that I need to worry about having so that I can reprogram it afterwards? I'm just paranoid of resetting something on the car that would need reprogramming like the immobilizer etc? If a battery was disconnected for a number of days, would this change things? Many thanks, Andrew.

Only used our two spare seats 4 times in 3 and 1/2 years of owning our grand Scenic and they worked just fine. We tried to use them in September but although the seats pop up fine the backs remain at a 45 degree angle identically on both sides! We have tried pulling the red straps hard and WD40 but to no avail. Our mechanic is currently as I write trying to work out how to fix them, so I will update with how to fix when and if he fixes them! It passed it's MOT this morning anyway, regardless of the seats. Janet from Somerset

Answers

The fault - seat backrest wouldn't come up straight. The pivot arm was rusted and seized up. To resolve this - slacken both T35 bolts on each side and the seat back will start to move. Lubricate (i.e. WD40) arm pivot and retighten T35 bolts. Result - seat backs up and ready to use. Thank you Eddy Muench, our marvellous mechanic! Janet from Somerset
