I have a 2.0 407 estate and the engine light came on and I've had it checked so they told me the DPF filter have been taken out and left like thet . Now I've buyed the filter and the lambda sensor but the garage said that someone blocked the computer in order to remove the filter and if the garage change it , the filter will block again . Does anyone know if it is possible to change the filter without going to peugeot?

My tyre inflate logo stays on even after I have put appropriate amount of air in the tyres. Is this a sensor fault or does computer need resetting? If it's the latter can I do reset, if so how, or do I have to go to engineers place to get it done??? Thank you for your assistance.

Hi, my 407's engine light has come on. I have been told by a few people it is to do with some special oil (like a blood bag) which should be put into the car as it has ran out. Do you know if this is correct? If it is, how much would it be and could I put it in myself??

Answers

Could well be if its a diesel. There is a tank of additive which needs refilling c 80k. Interestingly I was told having owned a Diesel 407 for 9 years by a chap at Peugeot that the additive (which is not cheap) is injected each time you fill the tank. In other words best to fill up the tank 100% each time which is what I have always done. So far no warning light. Elsewhere on Google a chap describes how to refill the Oilio tank but it did not look easy for an amateur. Hope this helps. PUGMAN from Surrey

cut out while driving try to restart nothing economy drive mode coming on depollution faulty system was coming on for a while but was driving fine

Answers

See response to Lewis Wardell. Could also be that EGR (exhaust gas recycling valve) needs cleaning. My engine (diesel) cut out recently because of this. Apparently the sensor concerned detects a change in pressure in the crankcase and closes the engine down. The valve was cleaned at the cost of 3 hours labour and all is well. Use only fully synthetic oil was the advice I was given to keep the engine working well. Also mechanic gave the engine a full flush. (80k on clock) PUGMAN from Surrey

Peugeot 407 SW hdi Auto. My n/s/r brake disc gets red hot and there's a constant whining brake noise similar to old bus brakes, when my car's moving. There is no excessive resistance on the wheel when the car's up on the ramp. Even so, I've had to have the disc and pads replaced as since the symptoms started, the pads completely wore down. Had the caliper replaced too. But now, same problem. Garage that did brake work is at a loss..... Please help.

The centre panel which holds the radio and allows you to select the parameters has a faulty display light. Sometimes the display light is on but invariably it dims and you cant read Radio Stations, settings etc. I am told I need a complete new centre panel which is very expensive. Can anyone give me some advice please

Answers

My 407 is the same, especially if the cabin is warm. It might be fine when you fist drive off, even in cool weather, but it will fade away eventually. You can buy a replacement LCD panel (sits above the radio) on internet auction sites like E-Bay quite cheaply, around £40. There are even instructions on You Tube on how to remove and replace them. I'm thinking about it. Egryn from Gwynedd

Good day, I traded in a 407 for a 508. Both cars seem to use a lot of cooling fluid and need regular topping up. Is this normal? Most cars nowadays seem to go from service to service without needing to top up coolant.

My 407 always shows FOG LAMPS faulty. Now it is showing speed control faulty, side lamps, air pollution filter, sometimes it flashes up that all the tyres are flat, the passenger side window control switch has stopped and the heater is blowing cold on the left hand side. Now usually I would take to peugot to be diagnosedand it has always turned out to be a simple fuse gone and making the computer go crazy - obviously costing me a fortune. Anyone has ideas on what I should be looking at ?? Once the car starts running everything goes off and no more bleeping...... thanks Helen
