I may be worng here but I remember that when I unlocked my Peugeot 407 with the remote, the courtesy light and the centre console would light up before I got into the car and show (on cold mornings) the ’risk of ice’ message. Two days ago, after refuelling, I noticed the courtesy light lights up but the centre console display no longer does. Is my memory failing or have I pressed something inadvertently? (Zenith)

My Peugeot 407`s power steering has gone light and very sensitive at high speed, it is very noticeable. The car has had new front discs front of side wheel bearing and near side track rod end fitted in the last few 4 weeks. Any idea what the problem might be? (2.0L 136)

My Peugeot 407 starts and runs fine until you get to a steep hill when all of a sudden the engine loses power, even changing down a gear does not help. It feels like the old diesels when the govener slows the engine down. The engine management light does not come on when this happens or any other light. You switch the engine off and re start it and then it is fine until you get to another hill and there are plenty here. In short the engine loses power when the inlet manifold has more pressure in it when pulling hard, as if a pressure sensor might be faulty. I will change the filter next week just in case anyway. The previous owner has fitted a new turbo a few monthe ago. On a flat road the car runs like magic. Any ideas please? (2.0 hdi)

My Peugeot 407 2.0 ltr tdi loses power when climbing slightest hills even on motorways. It also has particulate fluid level low reading and anti pollution warning lights coming up on the dashboard. Are these faults related? The car doesn’t seem to be in limp mode as some suggested as the car will still do upwards of 70 mph and all gears are working and revs higher than 2000 rpm. Any ideas please?.
Sounds like the particulate filter is to blame. - Ivor Mac from Devon
Hi there, I’m also having the same issue. My agent told me to change the throttle body, which I did change spending almost 500 USD, but the problem is continuing to occur. When I switch off the engine and then switch on it goes off. Intially I got the same error on the display and the engine light on the dash board, but still my Peugeot agent wasn’t able to identify the problem. Now their next target is to change my petrol filter, which will be another 300 USD. I have changed all the filters including the petrol filters. Please someone help me. - Zahran Ziyawudeen from Sri Lanka

My Peugeot 407 was driving perfectly until it started switching off while driving. It starts after a while and then drives perfectly again without a single misfire. The switching off has now become more regular (at least 5 times a day) and at times it takes a while to restart and drive normally. My mechanic had it diagnosed and it showed that my coil pack needed replacing. I had it replaced and it worked for a day or 2 until back to normal. Diagnostics now show that I need another ECU (engine control unit). My mechanic said that the ecu feeds spark to the coil pack and that`s the fault. Can anyone kindly let me know if it`s really the case before I go ahead and replace the ecu? Many thanks.

Hi. my Peugeot 407`s windows keep steaming up when the outside temperature goes below about 3 degrees. I have tried fiddling with all the controls but it doesn’t help. It is not a problem in the summer. Anyone help? (xline)
I had the same problem with my 207, I have been told the condenser does not work below 3 degrees. See if you can hear it click in when you press the ac button when it is above 3/4 degrees. you will hear a definite click and see the rev counter drop slightly. If it does then there is no problem. My Peugeot 407`s stop light comes up while driving but I managed to drive home (about 5km). Now it refuses to start after switching the engine off. What should I do?
If you mean the STOP light on the instrument panel, then you MUST take it to a dealer as there is a major fault somewhere, that’s why car won’t start now. - Steve M from Neath Port Talbot

My Peugeot 407 shows me the esp/asr whenever I start the car. What do I replace to overcome the problem?
My ESP/ABS warning lights kept coming on, an MOT fail. The sensors needed changing. If it is the front two not too bad, it will still cost a few hundred to have them replaced. But if it is the rear two, then the whole back end of the car has to virtually come off, with lots of cash needed for this. However, I had mine replaced at a dealer and the warning still comes on now and then, particularly in wet weather. - Steve M from Neath Port Talbot
They don’t cost a few hundred quid and the whole, rear of the car doesn’t have to come off lol... u need to lower the fuel tank to feed a cable around it, that’s it... simple job front and rear a DIY’er could do - Ray from Cheshire
I had this problem with my 407. It went into the Peugeot main dealer and had 4 new abs sensors. still no good. Then went to an independent Peugeot/Citreon specialist who told me straight away it was the brake light switch on the pedal. They changed this and it has been ok for over 12 mths. Cost £30 including fitting. - Russell Fry from Hertfordshire
So Ray, are you telling me that I did not pay a few hundred quid to get mine fixed because I can assure you I did, at a Peugeot dealer, and it was them that told me about the back ones. So are you telling me that they are lying? - Steve Mason from Neath Port Talbot

My Peugeot 407`s heater does not get hot on the driver`s side. What can I do?
There are 2 electric motors that work the shutters on the heater. The common fault is the spindle on one of these motors has broken. To get it fixed the cost can vary from £600 to £1750 depending on the garage you go to. The dash board has to be removed to do this. - Bill Homer from Staffordshire
Hi, I had the same problem with my 407. I found a garage in Rotherham that has a Peugeot specialist; the guy that does the job works at a Peugeot dealers in the week. I took my car one Saturday morning, he started the job at 9am and I was driving home by 12 noon. They removed the whole dash and steering column sleeve, the broken rod and used Araldite etc. It now works fine and cost £250. - Russell Fry from Hertfordshire

Hi. I have a Peugeot 407 and today I had a problem with the driver`s window, it won`t close correctly. You need to press the window button many times to close it and each time it rises up with 7cm maybe. I have no problem with the other windows. Can anyone help?
Hi. This is similar to what I have on my 407 Passenger and passenger rear windows. I have been told that it is a solenoid issue. my rear window operates on the one touch up and down but when closing it it goes all the way up and then opens all the way down!! so you have to "Gamble" when closing it that you get it right :-) - Peter Evatt from Sussex
Same happened to my 407 Peugeot. Reset window by moving window down till it stopped kept the button held down for at about 4 seconds. Worked the window up in stages and did the same again holding the button up for about 4 seconds. It all works ok now. I think it reset window travel. - Tony Wilson from England

Hi. The speakers on my Peugeot 407 suddenly stopped working last week. There was a brief crackling sound and then nothing! The radio still comes on and I can select radio stations and play CDs, but there`s no sound. The integrated Bluetooth is also affected. While my phone will connect as normal, when making/receiving a call there is no sound but I can be heard on the other end. Is this a simple problem such as a blown fuse or something? Any help with this will be greatly appreciated - my commute to work is getting much longer in the silence! Cheers and thanks for reading. (1.6 HDi Solaire ST Comfort)

Hi all. My Peugeot 407`s back passenger lights have stopped working. I`ve replaced all the bulbs and obviously that’s not the problem, but what I have noticed is the connector block with the 5 cables going into has a black patch and the centre cable of the 5 have slightly blackened. Can I get one of those connector blocks and attempt to do this myself? Any help and knowledge would be appreciated.

Hello. First of all, I would like to thank you for your effort to answer questions. Secondly, I would like to ask about an issue that I have with my Peugeot 407 2007 model. I was driving the car when it suddenly stopped. I tried to restart the engine but with no success. I took the car to the dealer and they suspect that "the cylinder head valves stuck and locked the piston, so the timing belt and other connected parts are completely damaged". However, I am not quite sure if the problem can happen in this order or the timing belt gets damaged first and then causes other parts to be damaged. The timing belt was replaced by the dealer in July last year and the car has not done more than 20,000 kilometers since that. I am concerned that the dealer is trying to avoid responsibilities with regard to the timing belt, hence they are saying that the cause of the failure is something else which eventually caused the timing belt to get damaged. I would really appreciate a detailed description of the above scenario if it can happen as mentioned by the dealer. Can anyone advise me? Regards.
The dealer is trying to rip you off, take it to a few mechanics who offer free advice and see what they say. My guess is that the timing belt failed causing other damage. the dealer is trying to get out of it. Keep going, don’t let them get away with it. - Steve M from Neath Port Talbot
The belt would have to snap first for this to happen, they are trying to rip you off mate :( - Grant Jolly Happy from Kent
