Hi, I have a Peugeot 308 - I have a aux input in my glove box (white and red). I've tried many different leads for it and I don't ever seem to get sound coming out of the radio. I click the source button to change to Aux on car radio but still no sound. Could this be a fault with the Aux input in glove box? Thanks!

At 75,000 miles my 2008 Peugeot 308 (petrol, automatic) has just shown 'Error: Faulty Antipollution' message while I was driving. Even with the message on, the car continued to run normally but the engine management symbol (light) stayed on. What do I do?! Thanks in advance.

Answers

Hi, this is a common fault, if you google the error you will find many horror stories of people paying a load of money to try and fix the problem and also lots of helpful tips. This error has appeared on my 308 (2008 Reg) twice in the last 2 years, with now being the 2nd time, and is currently in the garage waiting for a new turbo sensor - what ever that is! NB If your car is feeling sluggish and you feel like you are at times towing a caravan then please be careful as you may eventually just lose power completely. I could drive with this error fault for a couple of months and then out of the blue my car just stopped on the motorway at 11p.m.! The 1st time it appeared I asked my local garage, who did not have a diagnostic device, to change the oil filters in case there was dirt from the diesel clogging up the flow of fuel and this solved the problem... yeah!!. However, this time, after using a diagnostic device my car allowed the mechanic to clear the fault and reset itself, the car was taken out for a test drive and no fault appeared. However, after letting the car sit for 3 hours another test drive was done and a different error has now appeared to the cost of £130 just for the new senor! So good luck and just take it to a good diesel garage or a Peugeot dealer. Shirley Gunn from Cheshire

could someone please tell me what the SR stands for on my 2008 peugeot 308 and what extras are there on it compared to a standard model not even the local dealership can help.

Answers

The letters SR don't actually stand for anything, they just signify the equipment level within the range, below SR are Access, Urban, XE and XL. Above it are a further 15 equipment levels. If you want to see what each level offers the Parkers web site lists the various differences. Mick from Portugal

Thanks for that info, I have just found out from a chap that works at a Peugeot garage that SR stands for Sports Refined but that's all he knows , can anybody shed any more light on this thankyou. mick plant from Shropshire

That sounds better than Shi##y Rubbish which is what I used to believe it stood for when I had a 309 SR many years ago. Mick from Portugal

Peugeot 308

Hi, I bought my car from Arnold Clarke one month ago and recently vacuumed it to find a hole under the car mat on the drivers side. The car has done about 40,000 miles. The hole is approximately a heel size and is in front of the clutch; it goes through to the chassis. Arnold Clarke say this is a hole that should be there and all I need is a new carpet. I would like to know if this is true? Please could you advise me? Many thanks, Mrs T. Mann

Answers

Ask yourself this, if the hole is supposed to be there what's the point of buying a new carpet? If it's meant to have this hole then the new carpet would also have a hole in it. Mick from Portugal

I reckon you have three options they are, from most expensive to least expensive; 1 = replace the existing warning buzzer, 2 = fit an after-market warning buzzer, 3 = learn to stop leaving the lights on. Mick from Portugal

The screen of my car is partially blank even though the radio is playing i cannot see any warnings or set time and date. The screen has dark lines so i cant even make up whats written there, could somebody tell me what could be the problem

Answers

Chances are that your screen is not working because someone pressed on it too hard. Mine has dark lines only for 10% of the screen. Perhaps you need to go to Peugeot and ask them about the problem and then go to where they sell Peugeot second hand parts and purchase the screen there, if there is a need to buy it. Tlatsetso from South Africa

I had the same problem....and didn't do anything about it but then my clutch went I took it to get repaired and asked the guy about the screen.....he said he'd take a look when I got the car back it was working he said sometimes just disconnecting the car battery resets the electrics....worth a try Isabelle Chessher from Essex

After a month or so off road, we attempted to start up our 308. As there was ice on the wind shield I tried turning on the blowers to de-ice However there's no air coming out at all even on highest setting (not hot, not cold, nothing at all) when pressing the different options for feet/hand/windscreen, I can hear the mechanism moving the 'diffuser' or whatever it's called to the correct position, but no air comes out at all. I've checked the 40A fuse under the bonnet and it looks fine Any ideas?

Answers

Hi Pete, We have exactly the same problem as yours after our Peugeot 308 SW has been off road for almost 2 months. We took it to a nearby garage and were told that there's no power to the heater fan resistor and suggested to book in with a Peugeot dealer for further checking and repair. We just wonder if your car's problem has been resolved and would appreciate any advice you may have for us please. Thank you very much for your kind assistance. Lorraine King from Wiltshire

I found this great site on the recommendation of a shop assistant from Hallford. The problem with my 308 is I keep getting flat batteries and I just can't work out why. The battery itself was tested and does not need changing. I assumed it was me forgetting lights or something but I check everything really well with my kids, put the lights on manual to avoid confusion with the car keys...I have had a nightmare with the seat belts going off for no reason. Looking at this website has been great as I think I will follow advice on how to disarm them (impossible to do with the manual !) Could this have caused the flat batteries? Any advice on what it could be ? I am reluctant to go to the Peugeot car dealer because my experience of it so far has been that I go with a small problem and end up with them finding a bigger one and lots to pay! My 308 has been great but the gadgets have been nightmarish- plus expense of wheels to change with bolts only found at Peugeot and so more expensive...

Hi all, I have a rather annoying rattling noise which sounds like its coming from the front near side. It is a plastic sounding noise. Not sure if there are any plastic caps on top of the shocks but that is what it sounds like. The rattling is not constant and comes and goes. I have just had the anti-roll link bar changed as the bush had gone, was hoping this was the cause but turns out it is not. Has anyone else had this or can anyone advise on things to check? Thanks.

Good afternoon. I have a (59) plate 308 HDI diesel. I rather stupidly tried to start my car with just the metal piece of the key, as it had become detached from the plastic fob. The anti theft device turned itself on. I then tried to start the car with the spare, which had the remote locking fob on it, the car does not start. The car still shows a warning that the anti that device is active. Can I start the car agin? Do I reset it with the spare somehow? Any assistance is gratefully accepted. Kind regards Gary
