When I put my windscreen frost protector on my Peugeot 308 water has leaked in and down the door during heavy rain. (I am expecting the ice to hit imminently but so far I have just had rain). I`m not sure why this is happening as the door doesn’t appear to leak without it? Can a cover such as this cause the door seal to fault so easily? (HDI 3 door)

I was driving my Peugeot 308 normally, no problem, when the engine management light came on, followed by ’depollution system fault’. The car lost power. It restarted but the same problem continues to happen. It`s a 58 plate, done 42k miles, during the last 18 months it`s done 10k miles. Could this simply be a filter problem? (1.6 HDi FAP Sport)
Hi, did you find out what the problem was as the same thing is happening to mine? Allan A from England
I had the same problem with a 308, 08 plate. I took it to the Peugeot dealer and they removed the cam cover to check the camshaft dephaser caps. They found the caps to be badly scored and so required a complete cylinder head assembly. It cost me £240 to be told this and £2,900 to replace. I spoke to a friend who has a garage and he spoke to a Peugeot technician who he knows. The technician told him it is alledgedly a manufacturing fault, but Peugeot will not admit liabiliy. - Steve from Lancashire

I just got my Peugeot 308 today from the dealership. I drove it off the floor at the dealership and immediately got depolluting system faulty on the onboard computer. The car feels sluggish and when switching it off, the fan runs for 5 minutes. Also the engine light is permanently on. Any help please? (1.6 XT turbo)
This means one of a load of sensors has detected something out of normal limits and (can) put it into restricted power mode. I had this with my 207 and 308. The dealer needs to investigate, it could be anything. In my 308 it turned out to be a kinked vacuum hose! - Dave Plumb from England

When I was driving my Peugeot 308 home last night it cut out as I approached a junction. It restarted with no problem at all but then the anti pollution faulty warning came on. I got the rest of the way home but when I turned the ignition off the cooling fan came on and stayed on for about 10 minutes, although the temperature was normal. When I started the car this morning the cooling fan came on immediately and again stayed on for about 15 minutes after I turned the engine off. Any ideas please?
I have just had the same thing happen to me and I have to say I was quite scared! Faulty anti pollution came up as I got home, turned the engine off but the fan kept running for about 10 mins... Low oil message also came up so I’m going to check the oil - Shafaath Zeb from Lancashire

My Peugeot 308 has an AUX port in the glove box. However, when I connect my mp3 device nothing happens. I’ve pressed the source button as well but still get nothing. Am I missing something? Any ideas please?
Select AUX on the instument stalk (bottom right stalk for me on my 308 GT 57 plate). As MP3 is condensed format you’ll likely need full volume on the MP3 device and 20+ on the car stereo settings to hear anything. That should fix it. - Greg White from Bedfordshire

Hi. Just recently I purchased a Peugeot 308 hdi 1.6 diesel and a rotten egg smell was coming out of the air duct once the fan was turned on. It doesn’t always happen but now every time I turn on the window washer the foul smell comes into the car through the duct. I had it back to the garage for the original issue when I thought it may have been a cat’ converter issue and they said that was okay and put a cleaning agent into the a/c system. I just wondered if anyone has any ideas before I go back to the garage, as they tried to tell me it was more than likely bacteria in the ducting system previously? Thanks.
Hi, just thought I’d let you know the outcome of this issue. They removed the water washer container & found a build up of windscreen cleaning blocks at the bottom of it. Apparently the smell was so bad when they opened it up it cleared the garage. They removed the contents & put a liquid cleaning agent in it and flushed the lines. This appears to have sorted the issue. Hope this may be of some help for someone in the future if not just a starting point. Thanks - Teresa O’Donovan from Ireland

I’ve had my Peugeot 308 for 12 months and approx every three months I need to top up the oil. Previous to that I had a 307 but this only ever had oil changed/topped up at services. I’ve also noticed my heater blows either cold or warm air, it doesn’t blow hot. Are these two connected? Any suggestions?
Ref the oil use, I had this in a 207 and 308 with the THP engine; they use a little bit of oil by design and will need topping up between services. When I mentioned this to the dealer they said they’d top it up free of charge. So not all bad news. - Dave Plumb from England

I recently changed my stock stereo in my Peugeot 308 (2008) for a Sony, then had a problem with my car which resulted in the battery being disconnected. I now need to reset my clock as it’s flashing but can’t find how to do it, as apparently I need the menu button on the old stereo. Is there a way around this? Regards.
Connects 2 make a wiring loom which is simple to fit. It allows the function settings on the head unit to be controlled from the stalk on the steering column. Have a look on eBay for Peugeot 308 stereo and filter the search - Mark Rotchell from Cambridgeshire

Hi, I am driving a 2nd hand Peugeot 2009 Turbo Glass roof and have a problem with turbo boost. Sometimes I get the turbo boost at gear 1 going into gear 2 and it is causing the car to jerk forward awkwardly. Once the turbo boost is triggered, it will keep coming back when I accelerate from gear 1 to 2. Any thoughts?
Sounds like the turbo solenoid, if this is faulty then it ether opens the turbo to full boost or closes it and you get no boost, the problem can also be the rubber diaphragm in the waste gate which causes surging or lack of boost. But usually turbo boost issues are something in the vacuum system thats blocked or broken, you can check the vac system first as this would be my primary suspect then work through the system such as egr valve etc Puggster from Scotland

My Peugeot 308`s gearbox has broken down after 28,000 miles. I have been quoted £900 by my Peugeot garage which I think is a bit overpriced as I do think it should have have lasted longer than this. Can anyone advise me please?
It is problem gear box. I am sure you one is 4 speed - Ong Chee Wei from Malaysia
Ours has gone at 42000 miles and apparently it’s a known issue (althought Peugeot deny this). I know of companies returning fleets of vans that use the same gear box and my friend who works as a mechanic for a Peugeot dealer says they have had loads of work through this. He also recommended to me to buy Japanese next time :) after a £3500 quote from the dealer and already having replaced the slave cylinder and gear linkage (which has also been redesigned) I think I will listen to his advice next time! - Rob Owen from England

I have a Peugeot 308. My USB and Bluetooth phone function is working fine and I have been using it daily for two years. This morning, the phone function is not working., so I have had to disconnect it and reconnect it again. However, music on the USB isn’t working after that and the phone function is frozen as well. I have tried restarting my car after switching it off for a couple of hours, the USB works fine but when I connect my phone on the Bluetooth the music slows down and Bluetooth function is frozen as well. Has anyone experienced the same issue before?

When I drive my Peugeot 308 the camshaft is noisy, although it doesn’t occur whilst ticking over. Also it loses power between 1 and 2000 revs. It’s 5 years old and has done 39,000. I had it checked at the supplying garage and 2 others and all of them can’t find anything wrong, but I am sure there is! Does anybody have any suggestions or has anyone had anything similar? I’d be grateful for any suggestions, thanks.

My Peugeot 308 is constantly low on oil, despite topping it up when the warning light comes on. There appear to be no leaks, the temperature gauge is normal and there is no sign of oil burning. Also the air conditioning only blows hot air despite topping the radiator up with coolant and the inside of the car seems very hot. I am travelling to London next week and urgently need some advice. Can anyone help?
I am currently experiencing the very same issues. Have topped up oil twice in last 2000 miles and air con works intermittently but, out blows warm air rather than cool. Radiator coolant levels fine. Was hoping to find an answer here but no such luck - Michael Kay from England

I have a Peugeot 308 vti, it’s quiet when ticking over but sounds very throaty when accelerating. I have no warning lights on took it back to the dealer. They said the air induction does sound loud on the vti. I have no loss of power just the noise does not sound right.
Mine is the same. I’ve been told that all vti’s sound like this but I’m with you, it just doesn’t sound right. In fact it’s like they have a K & N filter on them. I’m going back to the dealer to get the cat checked and the exhaust. - Tom Marshall from England
