Hi, The temperature gauge flies over to hot and the engine stop light comes on and beeps. Then the temperature gauge returns to normal and can fluctuate between normal and hot for 2 or 3k's then it appears to be OK. This has just started happening after it has been in for an oil & filter change at the local garage. any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Pete

My engine cut out about 3/4 of the way home (about 12 miles from work), speedo went down, rev went down slowing grinding to a halt, no electrics at all. Thankfully I didn't go on the motorway last night, I dread to think what would have happened as I couldn't get to the left hand side of the road in time. Tried to start the car again but no joy till third time it started as normal. Scared to death of driving now in case it cuts out again. It`s a 308 10 plate 47,650 miles on the clock diesel. Any advice? Thanks

Hello, I have a problem with the engine management system light intermittently coming on without an obvious fault now. Six months ago I had a new egr valve and all is good with that except the light on the dashboard. My car test is due so I need to know if there is a management system fuse I can temporarily remove specifically to get rid of the light for the test only? Any help would be gratefully received. Thank you

My anti pollution light has come on. How can I fix this?

Answers

Had the same thing in December. Mine turned out to be a timing belt fault, water pump failure and an oil leak on the turbo line. Had a new timing belt, water pump and oil line, cost about £1500; mine was covered by my extended warranty luckily. Took a week to get it sorted. Don`t drive it any further than you have to, if the belt fails you will cause major engine damage. Helen from West Midlands

The rear off side light cluster has completely failed. I have tried a new bulb in the direction indicator which was the first to be noticed because of the rapid clicking with no success. I then realised that none of the bulbs were working but all looked sound. Is there a fuse which might have gone? I can't find one in the handbook. What could be the cure without too much cost I hope. Many thanks.

Answers

I have had both rear clusters do the same. Mine were burnt out wires or fused connector boxes in the back of the cluster. Replace the clusters and/or install a wiring harness. This is best done by an expert/dealership CMG from Wiltshire

Hi, my 308 struggles to start, first time it starts, the engine goes off. It's not that cold outside 12 Celsius degrees) and I drive it every day. At the same time engine warning light comes on and switches off as soon as the engine is running ok (usually the 2nd or 3rd attempt to start it). It's a 1.6 turbo diesel, 6yrs old car. This has happened now 3rd time within last 2 months. Any ideas please? Thanks!

Mine started to do this and then a Anti Pollution System failure popped up - turns out the timing belt and water pump needed replacing but it highlighted that the turbo oil feed pipe was leaking and had to be replaced. Had it back 2 days and now the EMU is flashing up an incomplete roof manoeuvre warning (which it can't do as the screen isn't in place) - back into the garage for the next problem to be diagnosed. I'd get them to specifically check your turbo feed. Helen from West Midlands

I have had to put a litre of oil in my 308 1.6 vti every 2 months for the last 2 years . Peugeot garage said nothing wrong and keep an eye on it! Tonight the Anti pollution system message appeared when the engine diagnostic light came on. So this sounds similar to your problem. Going to have to wait until after weekend to get it on diagnostic machine. anne-marie from South Yorkshire

Peugeot 308 CC 1.6 Turbo Exclusive 156 HK gasoline - Problem is an oil leak. I bought the car in 2010 and already in 2011 I got the first oil leak from the cam chain tensioner (?) 1½ year later I got an acute oil leak, within a few minutes all oil disappeared and I got the WARNING: NO OIL PRESSURE. I luckily stopped the car immediatelyand the engine survived. The chain / timing tensioner was replaced. A year later I got another oil leak. The workshop decided to replace a solenoid valve and oil pump (very expensive). Now I have heard that this oil leak problem is fairly common for this car model. This workshop had 7 incidents of oil leak caused by chain tensioner etc. Is this oil leak a problem for "Peugeot 308 cc turbo exclusive 2010" common known? Also another problem: I changed the battery half a year ago and from time to time I get a WARNING: BATTERY CHARGER FAULT. However the battery seems to work OK. Do I have to change something in the car`s computer? Many thanks in advance, Georg

Just got my 308 four days ago and side lights are on all pf the time. I can`t find how to turn these off in the manual, just wondering if they are supposed to be on all of the time and if not how do I get them to turn off?

Answers

Is it just your front lights? If this is the case they are daytime running lights. Now a legal requirement on all new uk cars. You can turn them off, using the menu button on the stereo scroll through to find "vehicle parameters" vehicle lighting should be in there somewhere. However for safety I would leave them on. 1811 from South Yorkshire

Hi, I`ve just got my brand new Peugeot 308 4 days ago. One thing with this car really annoys me and I actually don't know if it is a common thing or just on my 308. Everytime I start the car in the morning (or other times when it hasn't been used for a couple of hours) and it reaches 3rd gear I feel a big "click" in the gas pedal. It's only in 3rd and only this one time. If I shift to 4th gear and back into 3rd there is nothing. What could it be? In general I can feel everything in the gas pedal, the engine and it feels like there are small "clicks" all of the time. Any others who experience this?

Answers

I think that I am experiencing the same behavior as you. I feel the click during acceleration only once in second gear when the engine is cold. Did you find out what it was? Tom from Slovenia

Steering issue; my steering becomes intermmittently stiff and heavy, most unpleasant. First happened 5 weeks after taking delivery in October 2013. Since than dealership have changed the power steering pump, steering rack and discs (they went rusty). This is my third 308cc, last two were petrol 1.6, no steering issues with those. I can get nowhere with the delaership and Peugeot don't seem to want to know). Tyres, tracking and pressures regularly checked. Any ideas? I haven`t been able to drive another one of these to compare. I think from the feedback that I have had that they know there is a problem but don't want to own up.
