Hi all The person I bought the 308 off did not pick up the 2nd key for this car from the selling garage, I went to see if they had the key, no they had not, I bought one off ebay ( NOT the china ones) the quality appears good, to my question, Peugeot is after £180 for a replacement which I think is over the top, has anyone on here bought a replacement key for their 308 from another source? where did you get it & the cost? does the spare have to be a fob key? I should know the answers to these questions but! I'm asking the Question. tia

Bought seconhand 308 2009 model, over 140,000k's. Anti-pollution faulty has shown since day 2 of purchase, now about a week later, in the space of 5 minutes, the car stalled 6 times all at very low or idle speed. It had apparently just had a service through the dealers we bought it off. It went fine on our test drives the day we bought it, including at very low speeds. Any ideas before we take it back to the same dealer mechanic? thank you.

My engine fault light is on and the on board computer says anti pollution. I have put a diagnostic machine on and it indicated a faulty cylinder coil which I changed. The fault is the same and the new coil made no difference. symptom's are miss firing, car goes to limp mode and the fan kicks in and remains on for a few minutes after the engine is switched off. I also checked the radiator hoses after a drive as I thought it mat be a thermostat problem and the top hose was hot whereas the bottom one was cold. Any ideas please? Matt

HI MATT I had the same problem but without any warning lights. We took it the Peugeot work shop and left them scratching their heads. They solved the issue on the 4th visit and i couldn't blame them due to intermittent limp mode. I was so frustrated and very angry but they came through. Now this may solve your problem...change the whole four coils at the same time. They changed one coil at a time and it worked for a short period of time. Someone decided to do all four coils and LOW BE HOLD it worked. Two years and no issues. Good luck mate and i hope this helps memet from Australia

Peugeot 308

How many miles would a 16 i s308 petrol engine do?

Answers

This depends on a few things Andy. Has the car been serviced right? Do you drive with windows open? Does the car have a roof rack? Tyres correctly inflated? Weight in the car, most important, YOUR RIGHT FOOT - the car should return an average 36-38 miles per gallon, so calculate how much with the tank full. Trebor from Lancashire

I'd put the back seats down and lie down with a torch. Get someone to spray water with a hose (not too much pressure) over the rear of the car and see I could identify where the leak is coming from. mick from Australia

I have the same Problem, the N/S ( Passenger side) Light fitting let's the water in, if you take out the Boot left side recess panel, (fitted with one screw at the top) you will trace where the rain water comes in. If you do intend to remove the light Cluster be careful when you remove it as the top end has a lobe that you could snap on removal. Trebor from Lancashire

Shortly after buying our Peugeot 308 direct from the dealer (it had been a demo model for 12 months) a telephone rang from what seemed like the glovebox. This happened 3 times in one day. We took everything out and could find nothing. We contacted the Peugeot dealer who said they knew nothing about it, nor did the technical people at Peugeot HQ. Silence for 3 years and now yesterday it did it again. It is extremely unnerving. Does anyone have a clue about this? And, no, we do not have Bluetooth.

Noise coming from automatic fan belt tensioner, is this a common fault. Quoted 180 quid to replace it.

Answers

Hi, there`s two on the ep6 vti engines, the one nearest the front by the alternator is the main tensioner, the other is like a tensioner but drives the water pump, it`s known as a friction wheel. Euro car parts do it for £40.74, not that hard to change tbh - here`s the link copy and paste http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Peugeot_308_1.6_2008/p/car-parts/engine-parts/belts-chains-and-tensioners/tensioners-idlers-and-dampers/?326120020&1&39a35b5b899a8ca24d088196ee7a52aa91a5479e&000112 James lee Gwilt from Staffordshire

For the last year or so my radio/CD does not come on when the ignition is turned. The red SOS light stays on and then randomly goes out at which time the entertainment system comes on. This can happen after an hour of driving or even more. Has anyone else had similar problem with their Peugeot 308SW 1.6HDi Estate? My Peugeot dealer is unable to give me a solution. They suggest changing the CD player or giving Peugeot a ring! The car has done 116,000 miles mostly with me driving. The CD player is not the original because it had to be changed just after the warranty ran out so I am reluctant to change it again as when it does come on it is fine for the rest of that journey.

Hi I have a 308 63 plate, I'm just wondering whether the push button on the left stalk does anything, I've looked through the manual and I can't find anything, I just really want to know. Thanks in advance

Answers

Hi, that button on the right hand side stalk is to reset and change the trip meter/mpg, the small square screen in between the dials at the bottom, if you press it a few times it changes the screen. If you hold the button in it resets the mpg, if you want to turn the screen off (distraction at times) on the left hand stalk there`s a small roller button, put this in the middle to turn it off. Peugeot 308 owner James lee Gwilt from Staffordshire

Hi, for me that is the right stalk not the left, the left push button on mine doesn't seem to do anything Nick from Durham

Hi, yes I see, have checked my own and there is a button there but it doesn`t do anything and is not connected to any electrical device? James lee Gwilt from Staffordshire

Suppose it doesn't do anything then Nick from Durham

The button on the left stalk is for setting, cancelling and resetting cruise control/speed limiter if you have it. Darrell from Fife

The next day I check on the coolant reservoir the water drop again to below minimum . What could have caused this problem to me . Please advise me on all related cause so I can know whether I had been ripped by my garage . Thanks for your precious time advising me . Hope you will always have a great day ahead . Hope to hear from you soon .

Answers

Hi, have you checked for water leaks under the car? If no leaks are present then it might be a case of headgasket failure. James lee Gwilt from Staffordshire

Hi, check the front floor mats inside your car, are they wet? If so, you have a heater hose leakage. Open the bonnet and have a look at the radiator / heater hoses, do they show signs of a leak? (brown stains). Check that the hose clips are tight. If all that has been done, get the system pressure tested, has the radiator been replaced? If so, there could be air within the system, does your heater go from HOT / COLD>>HOT / COLD? If so, the system wants bleeding. Trebor from Lancashire

Hi, No it doesn't do it when started from cold, it has only done it over a 2 day period, but when started the following morning after the first time it happened it run as rough as anything. It has subsequently run OK but the other problem now is the air con. We had it re-gassed and it only works intermittently, could these 2 problems be linked??? Cheers Peter Peter from Spain
