I parked my Peugeot 307 SW and turned the wing mirrors back without using the central locking. Now they don`t work at all. Are they fused or is it the door module?

I have a Peugeot 307 SW 2003 Station Wagon that has just started to have a shifting problem, mainly in first and second gear. There is no slippage that I can feel or loss of power and when applying the handbrake I can stall the engine in all gears. With the clutch depressed and in first gear I can hear a slight dragging sound, as if the pressure plate isn’t being fully depressed. I went to the garage to verify what I think is the thrust bearing and was told that without separating the tranny they wouldn’t know for sure. Is there a cheaper way to verify this fault? (2003 Station Wagon)

My Peugeot 307 SW’s fuel gauge doesn’t seem to work - when I fill up with almost 60 litres, it still only registers as three quarters full. Why is this? Also, just had the ’Diesel Additive Minimum Level’ light appear. It comes on after about 40 seconds after the ignition is started and disappears about 3 seconds after that. Does this mean that the additive needs to be topped up NOW, or am I OK to do it after the weekend when I get back from my weekend away? Will it kill the car if I leave it? (HDi)

Has anyone experienced problems with a wet carpet in the passenger footwell of their Peugeot 307 SW? I had coolant low signal sign so topped it up with anti freeze and sealed it in case of leaking, but carpet still wet!!!! HELP what is it and how much is the part?

I have same problem with my 307cc. Someone has told me this could be expensive. I am going to garage tomorrow! - Dee Priestley from England
I had the same symptom and just repaired it. The heater matrix (a.k.a. core) needs replacing. The OEM manufacturer is either Behr-Hella or Valeo depending on the engine and model year. Mine is a 2.0 litre, petrol, with the RFJ EW10A (140 HP) engine, manual trans, and digital climate control system (separate temperature controls for passenger and driver). You will need to know this type of data for your car before you search the mfrs databases. You should check both the Behr-Hella and Valeo application catalogues on-line. There are three different heater cores available, so have your VIN handy and send an e-mail to Behr, if you need to make sure which one you have... I did! The standard Behr replacement kit comes with the gasket. Use Parflu UP from Selenia (Petronas), Fuchs equivalent (The Red Stuff), or new Valeo (red) coolant as the replacement coolant which will be good virtually forever and used in the newest Peugeot/Citroen engines (like ours) for Fiat/Lancias... saves in maintenance costs in the long term. *** Never mix the PSA OEM REVCOGEL or GLYCOGEL with the RED STUFF. As recommended by Valeo in a TB. Flush the entire system with Holt’s radiator flush to remove any trace of the old stuff (Orange or Green) or the system will GUM UP! Dilute any coolant with distilled water to achieve the proper freeze protection for your climate or use the (ready) pre-mixed variety. You will need carefully pry the hard plastic part on the footwell (adjacent the door) and the door-edge guard by prying and pulling the hard parts in the direction that THEY FACE until the clips release. Don’t be too rough, the clips are plastic. Then, remove the insulation from under the carpet by sliding your arm under the carpet to find the opposite edge. I used paper towels to dry out the carpet as best I could by reaching my hand under the carpet and blotting it. I washed the insulation in the tub and air dried it. It took two weeks for the carpet to dry out completely by itself and then I put the insulation and plastic bits back on - Rob Watson from Greece
I had the same problem, very easy to fix, takes about 40 mins. It’s the heater matrix, there are two round rubbers, they are gone and you need to replace. I bought them for £1.55 for both. You have to take the glove compartment out then you will see a black tube from the engine, there is a screw on top and at the bottom, you remove them then go to the engine and remove battery and the filter. Then remove two pipes that attach to the body - it’s just a clip. Please make sure you drain all the coolant out first. There is a screw which holds the two pipes - remove it. When all pipes are out then go to the heater matrix and pull it out from right to left, don’t damage it. Remove first the cover next to the gear area on the left or right depending where it’s leaking - two screws. When you pull out the matrix you will see two screws attached to two pipes remove them then pull out the pipe. Inside you will see two rubbers, take them out, then replace with the new ones. I got them from the car parts centre. After that go to DIY or Woodies and buy two bolt and nuts similar to the one on the heater matrix as only two screws are there instead of 3 then close it and put all back. Make sure you bleed the coolant properly or the car will heat up. The bleeding pipes are the same pipes you removed that connects to the heater matrix - Lisha M from Ireland

What might be the cause of my Peugeot 307 SW clutch going stiff under operation?
Answers
There are 2 possible causes: 1) bad clutch release bearing and 2) the clutch disc has worn down so far as to have impeded faceplate travel; i.e. the clutch disc is lightly grinding against the faceplate. This second problem usually becomes noisy after a bit. The key issue is that if you need to replace the clutch bearing then go ahead and replace the clutch disc too! A good mechanic will also examine the faceplate to see if it needs replacing as well. Valeo, Luk SA (I), and Sachs (zf-trading.com) are the OEM suppliers for PSA clutch discs and throw-out bearings. If you have a log-on and password, you may also verify using the Peugeot Service Box for your VIN to assure the PSA cross-reference of suppliers part numbers for correct size and type. Do not reuse the faceplate attachment bolts. Replace with new as they may not torque correctly - Robert Watson from Greece

Every morning when I start my Peugeot 307 SW I have to climb a small hill and my car always starts to beep and a response comes up on the dash saying "automatic gear fault". How do I fix it? The diagnostic guy said that I need a knock sensor but the firm tells me that they don’t see anything for that model...

Hi, could anyone tell me if it is possible to put the seats flat in the back to sleep, for example on camping holidays when its raining! I’m considering the 307SW model. Thanks.
Answers
The rear seats fold up against the front seats, if you know what I mean, so I don’t think there would be enough sleeping room especially for two people and luggage etc, you can remove the seats not needed it will give lots more room! - Alan Lawrence from Lancashire
If it is an SW model and not an ordinary estate, all the seats are removable. So the answer to your question is yes - Andrew from County Fermanagh

I have a problem with water on the passenger floor. Where is it coming from do you think?
Answers
Quite likely from where the coolant hoses from the engine connect to the heater matrix, behind the dash/centre console. Easily accessed from the passenger foot well, behind the right hand kick panel - Ben Nickless from Hertfordshire

Both alternator charge light and diesel warm up light have ceased showing at initial start up on my Peugeot 307 SW. Is this a coincidence? That both failed at same time, Peugeot say LEDs have failed and want £500 to replace or could it be a simple connection problem as they are both on the same line on the dash. Also they say it’s not a problem as if there is a alternator fault I will get a visual and sound warning on the computer display. Comments please.

The heater fan on my Peugeot 307 SW is not blowing and I cannot find the blown fuse. Can anybody help please?
Answers
Try at the bottom of your heater box, next to the matrix. There is a connector block with 4-5 wires going into a resistor pack this usually goes wrong or the wires at it do they tend to heat up and melt together - John Patterson from Lanarkshire
Go to the library and get the 307 book it shows you how to remove the fan very easy. Check it on the bench to see if it blows. If it does take didgical camera and take a snap shop of the empty space were the fan was and you will be able to see the wiring. Push the wiring over the drivers side and it will come out. Now you need a 10 amp car wire and you can replace some of the wire. The old wire will be burnt at the conection to the fan. When the wire is replaced, it cost a bit of time but very cheap and it will not go wrong again. The wiring connector gets hot and burns out but not with the new bit of wire. Good luck, it worked for me and that was a year ago. Please note: you do not need special tools - Bob Brown from England

On my Peugeot 307 SW, when coming out of fifth gear the stick does not move over for me to select fourth gear. Would you say this is the gearbox? I don’t have any other trouble with the gears, only coming out of fifth to fourth.

My 2003 SW (diesel) has now done over 200,000 miles and is still cheap to run. I get it serviced regularly but no major expenses so far - Wolf Solent from Buckinghamshire
Hi, as long as you’ve got a near as complete service history with interim engine services and at least one major service you should be OK. In my experience dealer servicing is not always the best so check the receipts and the work done. However, if the car has been ’ragged’ around town you won’t know apart from obvious wear and tear with a whining gearbox or rattling engine. A car that has been used on a motorway most of it’s life is a better bet. I bought one with 104 on the clock 2 years ago and it’s done 157k now, just look after it and you should be fine - Andy from Hampshire

I have a 307 SW 7 seater, 2003 model. It has been terrible at driving in the recent snow, the wheels just spin. There is a light that flashes on the dashboard when this happens, saying ESP. I assume this is traction control, and if it is, can it be turned off? I have googled it, and lots of replies are pointing towards a button that can switch it on or off, but I can’t see any button in the car that would do this.
Answers
The answer is that you can’t. If it hasn’t been fitted at the factory you can only disable your ABS (which is not advised). See this url for this workaround - http://www.justanswer.com/uk-car/2zl0z-switch-off-esp-peugeot-307-hdi-56-reg.html - Andy from Hampshire
Engage a higher gear when setting off in snow, this will stop the wheel spin. It has nothing to do with the ESP light which will show if wheels lose their grip - Rob Taylor from Surrey

I have a 2003 Peugeot 307 SW tiptronic transmission which has not been accelerating, the car will reverse ok, but it will not drive forward, and when it does, it is sluggish and stalls, it will start again after 30 or so minutes, drive a bit further and then die out again. Changed the solenoids, but no change. Can anyone shed some light on what could be the problem?

I am trying to remove the rear seats to carry a large load. I am unable to remove the seat behind the driver. The other 2 came out OK. I pulled the lever behind the seat but it did not pop up, it is stuck and the lever stayed out and unable to push back to the home position. The vehicle has not been involved in any accident. (SE)
Answers
I have had the same problem. Make sure the seat is pushed right back and it should work properly. If not it means actually releasing the seat from under the seat by using a large flat bladed screwdriver to push the locking levers up - Alan Varney from Leicestershire

I like many others have suffered the dreaded Anti Pollution Fault. I took it to my local Peugeot dealer and they put it on the tester and came up with two faults - 1) P0098 - permanent fault. Air temperature after exchanger sisnal short-circuit to positve or 2) P0096 - permanent fault. Air temperature after exchanger signal temperature change. The car appears to be running fine however the mpg is only 36. Is that normal? What does this mean, help!!!!
Answers
Assuming you’ve had the anti-pollution fluid topped up, then try taking the car for about 5 miles at a constant 3,000 rpm (doesn’t matter what gear you’re in... track suit bottoms being an exception ;-) This will burn off any pollutants trying to choke the particulate filter on the exhaust system and return your consumption figures/performance - Alan Eccles from Mid-Lothian (Edinburghshire)
