Can you tell me if these cars have a steering lock please because if they do mine's not working and I need to get it back to the garage. Thanks Carol

Answers

yes, Carol, your car will have a steering lock.. after you take the key out you may still be able to turn the steering wheel a little in either direction .. until it clicks.. then it's locked. If your steering wheel can make a complete revolution without locking.. it's not working. R Evans from Caerphilly

Hi, my cars quite old so it leaks a bit. I got these damp crystal bags to help with condensation. But today I was trying to see if the bags needed replaced and I stupidly opened it. The damp crystal went everywhere! Including down the gear stick. The cover is quite tight so I'm guessing only a couple got in. I checked if it still went into gear and it does. Will it be ok or is it more serious?

Answers

Kay, I believe that you mean that the crystals have gone past the gaiter that is fixed to the console at the bottom end and elasticated around the top end where it goes around the gearstick itself. If this is the case then none of the crystals would go INTO the gearbox from there so no worries there.. however, those crystals can be caustic.. they burn.. and may eventually cause some damage to the metal parts that are below that gaiter, even though you say that only a few went in .. (if any went in at all).. you usually can take hold of the gaiter either side and near the bottom and pull it upwards to remove the gaiter housing from the console,.. that will give you open access to what is underneath.. and if there are crystals there, they'll be liquid by now.. wipe them up and clip the gaiter back into place. Brake lights operate when ignition is off. Not a 'problem', as such, but should this be happening?

Answers

Mine operate when ignition is off.. Nissan X-trail,.. but ONLY when I press the brake pedal.. if yours operate without pressing pedal you have a problem.. possibly maladjusted switch.. otherwise, leave alone. R Evans from Caerphilly

Hi how much oil do I need to fill a Peugeot 107 after emptying it

Answers

The 1.0l petrol takes three litres and the 1.4 diesel takes 3.8 litres.. this will differ if you are replacing the oil filter too. Put in 3 litres first.. let it settle then put a bit more at a time until the disptick level indicates a level between low and high.. do not go over the high mark.. it causes more damage than leaving it just below low ! I have a 107 62 plate. While driving home tonight, every time I breaked both indicator lights & rear fog light lit up on the dashboard, all at the same time. Also, when I was indicating (both left or right) & breaking at the same time, the indicator lights on the dashboard flashed VERY quickly. The car passed it's first MOT at the end of Oct & the 3 year warranty ran out at the beginning of Nov. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the fault might be & will it be expensive to fix? Thanks in advance

Hello, my 107 cut out as I started it up on a slight downward slope, the engine went dead, then sprang back to life as I got onto the flat, but the engine light came on, and now won't go off! It's running perfectly well, but I am worried to take it far! Any suggestions as to what it might be? I have only just had it serviced!

Peugeot 107

I have a Peugeot 107. Whenever I brake hard the wheels seem to lock and the car skids on. I asked the agent in Malta and was told this was due to the ABS and you have to let go of the brake pedal and press the brake again for it to work well. I found this strange as in an emergencyoine does not have the time to do this. Could you please suggest what I should do. Thanks, Denis Micallef

The engine coolant light keeps coming on, it goes off after a minute or so. I have checked my engine coolant and its full, anybody know what could be happening? Thank you in advance.

Answers

That happened me recently and I topped up my water/antifreeze and also my engine coolant. There were two compartments that said coolant on them. One is a white plastic fixture, it needs the correct mixture of water and antifreeze. Then there is another compartment with a pressurised lid that you not touch if your car has been running. Leave it for an hour to cool first. This also might require coolant. My levels were quite low. I asked my mechanic to check what I'd done after and he was happy enough. Peugeot's also have dodgy water pumps so beware of that. The early 107's also had the wrong size clutch fitted so I've had to replace that too even with very low mileage. Hope this helps. I've had 3 short beeps from around the dashboard area, but no lights to suggest what the problem is. My petrol gauge is at 5 bars so it can't be fuel surely? It's an automatic I have and recently the car has been revving unusually high every time it changes gear. Could this be related and also is the revving a bad thing?
