Hi, Today I had to break slightly sudenly while reversing! The car stalled due to mounting a grassy inclined verge, and then when the car began roll forward I found that the break pedal was locked up. I used the hand break to stop the car, and after restarting it the breaks operated fine, bur I'm worried that there's some kind of fault or damage? Thank you in advance for any help you can give Barry

Answers

If the engine isn't running there is no servo assistance to the brakes. Many people don't realise how much more effort is needed to press the brake pedal when there is no servo assistance being provided, I think you might have just experienced this. However if in any doubt get the brakes checked properly. Mick from Portugal

My car is incredibly easy to stall, the bite is incredibly weak and the clutch pedal doesn't come out smoothly instead it stops in a few locations and if I try to let it up higher it either doesn't move or comes up too high and stalls the engine. I have tried using the accelerator as I release the clutch in an attempt to not stall but my car more often than not judders as if it is going to stall anyway if not actually stalling. My car has really low mileage for its age 36365 for a 2008. I'm thinking of having the clutch replaced or something because the pedal is so bizarre. Other family members have the same issue as me. Has anyone got any suggestions for me to help me not stall? all answers greatly appreciated

Hi, I have an 09 Peugeot 107 manual, 1 litre. After filling up this morning, I drove about 100m away and my car beeped, just once. The same beep you get if you only have one bar of petrol. I didn't think anything of it but driving home from work (about 30 miles, motorway driving) I heard the beep again, just one single beep. There are no warning lights on the dashboard, nothing else seems to be strange. I've read that constant beeping can mean a problem with the clutch, but it's just a single beep so I aren't sure. I drive around 45 miles a day. I've had it for about 8 months and nothing has gone wrong yet (that I can tell at least) Can anyone shed any light on what this might be? Thanks!

Over the last two Weeks (in cold weather) my central locking does not work with the key FOB. I have had the battery on the FOB checked & re-programmed the Fob as per the Manual. But it still does not work in the cold. Any ideas please what is causing this? Note - this may have nothing to do with it; but the Key does not always go into the door lock either when the FOB does not work (I have never tried the key in the door until now and this may have always been the case. It takes a bit of jiggling to open or lock the car this way.

Went to lock my car up just now and the side window on the drivers side at the back has almost fallen off. It seems to have come out of the two "clips" that hold it in place. Help!

I had the same problem last year. Mine came right off while driving down a country road! The glass is only held onto the clips with glue?! I was able to take it to a windscreen garage and they secured the glass back to the clips and it's been fine since ???? Jennifer from Antrim

when parking, I try to put the steering lock on and the majority of cases I have to turn the wheel almost one rotation for it to lock. on other cars I've driven it only takes a slight movement to lock regardless of how the front wheels are aligned, surely this can't be right?

My daughter has recently bought a Peugeot 107 Automatic (5 doors) from a reputable dealer. It takes a few seconds changing gears from 1st to 2nd and when it does there is a reluctance for the car to "slow down" as if something is dragging it. Is this normal? I am just worried with the amount of fast and careless drivers she may find it difficult to make turns on the main road or roundabouts. Thank You

So I drive a 2011 107 and I'm planning a road trip to Devon which will take approximately 3 hours there and 3 hours back. It's only going to be my friend and I in the car do we think my car will be okay for that long distance ?

Answers

Ive drove from Newcastle to Edinburgh and my 107 was fine no problems what so ever. Check your fluid levels, if they are getting low top them up, or take the car to a trusted garage and ask for advice most times they will top everything up for you. Check tired for wear and make sure they aren't too worn, again you can get the people at the garage to do this and also you could take a half hour break gives you a rest and the car :) I hope this has filled you with confidence :) Shaun from Northumberland

Started car and seemed noisier than usual, then every time I used the brakes the engine would cut out and all the lights came on (STOP, engine, battery, etc..). After driving for about 10min car doesn't cut out, but car still noisier than usual. No smell of burning, or any other unusual smells, no lights on dash that shouldn't be on. On arriving home opened bonnet, no visible steam or other leaks. Checked for oil patches on floor several hours later - nothing. Why is my car making this noise and why does it cut out?????

Answers

I have just been advised by my mechanic friend that it is probably the water pump, if not the alternator. He is going to take a look at it next week and confirm which it is. Isobel from Monmouthshire

The exhaust has fell down on the right hand side of my car , I think it only requires a clip can anyone help me get the correct clip I need. The exhaust looks and sounds ok, just needing clipped back on Karen

Answers

Karen, it's likely that your exhaust mounting rubber has perished and snapped. If one has gone the other may not be far behind so change both just to make sure.. don't worry, you'll not need to rob a bank to replace them they're less than tenner on 'popular auction site'.. for two.. just type in "peugeot 107 exhaust mounting rubber".. yours will be round in shape with two distinct holes.. one hole for exhaust one goes on car mounting point.. use washing liquid neat on the rubber to help slide old off and new on.. rain will wash it off. You will have one rubber mounting each end of the rear box.. in other words one towards passenger side and one to drivers side. R Evans from Caerphilly

Hi, thanks for that ! I've just had a look under the car it looks like a metal bracket has snapped, it feeds through the rubber mounting! There is a piece of metal through one side but rusted at the other end ! I think I'll need the metal part . Thanks again Karen Karen from South Lanarkshire

Karen, in that case it depends which metal bracket has broken off.. the one on the exhaust box itself or the one on the car.. more likely to be the exhaust one than the car one.. if it's the car one, you'll need a bit of welding to get it back on and you could do the same with the exhaust one, but to be honest, if it's corroded that bad that it's broken off, you'd be better off getting new back box. Hi i have a Peugeot 107 06 plate it is an automatic I've had it for about 6 months, the last month or so it has been making a beeping noise sounds like its coming from the drivers area however nothing shows of flashes on the dashboard. It mainly starts beeping after driving for about 25mins and doing longer journeys, it used to beep for a while then stop but recently the beeping has been continuos its not the seatbelt noise as have checked and doesn't sound like the "beep" noise. Today was when the beeping noise was continuous was driving for about an hour and after 20-30mins it started and didn't stop for about 40mins i slowed down and done under 50mph and it seemed to stop. Was just wondering if anyone had any idea what it might be and feedback would be great, many thanks!

Answer this question

Kim, Rhondda Cynon Taf

Peugeot 107

Hi Been to see a lovely 107 tonight. Only one problem with it... The engine management light is on (orange). The current owner has said it's to do with some sort of sensor in the exhaust and the car is booked in with a garage to fix the problem later this week. Apparently it will only cost around £30. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem??? Or am I being led up the garden path?

Answers

Kim, the explanation is feasible.. the lambda sensor is in the exhaust and affects the emissions and fuel adjustment values.. it would give an error message to the ECU which would light up the EML.. and it'd cost abt £30 to replace. However.. EML lights up for a multitude of reasons.. I'd wait til it's sorted and then check it out. If you're AA or RAC, contact them and ask about getting them to inspect and report.. it may cost you money but if the car is not good, it will save you money... Remember that French cars do not have good reputation for electrics.. just go into French vehicles section on here and see how many people get probs with electrics. Not saying to walk away.. but get it checked properly first. R Evans from Caerphilly

Can you tell me if these cars have a steering lock please because if they do mine's not working and I need to get it back to the garage. Thanks Carol

Answers

yes, Carol, your car will have a steering lock.. after you take the key out you may still be able to turn the steering wheel a little in either direction .. until it clicks.. then it's locked. If your steering wheel can make a complete revolution without locking.. it's not working. R Evans from Caerphilly

Answer this question

Kay N, County Antrim

Peugeot 107

Hi, my cars quite old so it leaks a bit. I got these damp crystal bags to help with condensation. But today I was trying to see if the bags needed replaced and I stupidly opened it. The damp crystal went everywhere! Including down the gear stick. The cover is quite tight so I'm guessing only a couple got in. I checked if it still went into gear and it does. Will it be ok or is it more serious?

Answers

Kay, I believe that you mean that the crystals have gone past the gaiter that is fixed to the console at the bottom end and elasticated around the top end where it goes around the gearstick itself. If this is the case then none of the crystals would go INTO the gearbox from there so no worries there.. however, those crystals can be caustic.. they burn.. and may eventually cause some damage to the metal parts that are below that gaiter, even though you say that only a few went in .. (if any went in at all).. you usually can take hold of the gaiter either side and near the bottom and pull it upwards to remove the gaiter housing from the console,.. that will give you open access to what is underneath.. and if there are crystals there, they'll be liquid by now.. wipe them up and clip the gaiter back into place.
