H. I have a Nissan Primastar 06 which keeps breaking the clutch master cylinder rod. When a new master cylinder is fitted and the system bled, the pedal is slow to return back up from the floor but the clutch is good, clearing all gears. After 3 or 4 hours driving the pedal becomes solid and breaks the rod. This same problem is recurring. Can anyone help? (dci 100)

My Nissan Primastar 2.0 dci 2007 has been brilliant for more than 3 years but only recently it is starting to blow out smoke. The smoke comes from under the vehicle, not the bonnet or exhaust and is purplish grey and smells strongly of diesel. It only lasts approximately 5 minutes but then settles up and disappears. This only happens when the vehicle is cold. Can anyone advise what this may be and whether there is a simple fix?

Hello. I cannot open the bonnet of my Nissan Primastar from the inside, the cable has broken. Please advise how I can do it. Is there any other way to open it other than in a regular way? Thank you.

My Nissan Primastar’s clutch pedal was getting lower and lower before it would engage and would not return. Then it would be okay. Now it goes straight to the floor, does not engage and only returns if I pull it up. What is wrong with it?

This could be one of two problems. First, it could be that your clutch master cylinder is broken. This is positioned just above the clutch peddle, 2nd is the bracket that holds this could also be broken. Very poor design needs to be welded or replaced - Dave Kinsella from London

The interior lights on my Nissan Primastar have stopped working, both in the cab and in the load area. All the bulbs and the fuse have been tested and are working. I suspect that the relay that controls the time delay is at fault but am unable to locate it. I have found some relays under the expansion tank and some under the dash to the left of the centre console but I have found that these relays are for other systems. Does anyone have any ideas what the fault may be? (1.9dci SWB)

Hi, my driver’s side window will only work sometimes and then stick in the open position or not open or close at all. If I push it down, holding the switch, it will then go all the way down and then all the way back up? Can anyone throw some light on this problem? Also my reversing sensors don’t work but give out a deafening tone when in reverse. Many thanks for any help.

Is there any adjustment available when fitting gear selector cables on a Nissan Primastar? I had mine done recently and now 1st is so close to third and the same with 2nd and 4th. Also as 3rd gear is selected it clunks. I didn’t have any problems with selecting gears before the new cables were fitted. Can anybody help? (Nissan Primastar 2005 1900)

I have bought a Nissan Primastar 03 plate and after 4 weeks it suddenly lost power when driving and the coil light and light above the coil light came on at the same time as l lost power? Same happened, mine turned out to be the air flow meter which is situated on the side of the air box with an electrical fitted on to it - Paul Griffin from Ireland

Hi. Does anyone know the cause of shuddering on my Primastar 100. It shudders when I pull off and sounds like a loud rattle coming from underneath the car it - shudders quite badly and is getting worse. It’s a 2007 model, can anyone help with any answers of what could cause the shuddering? Thank you.

It’s most likely to be separation of the dual mass flywheel causing vibration when taking up drive. The dual mass fly wheel and clutch assembly will need replacing to rectify this fault - Andrew Ackroyd from England

Rear nearside indicator stopped working causing the other 2 front ones to go quicker. Removed bulb, cleaned around contacts, put back in and worked again. Not for long, so changed bulb still not working. Anyone any ideas, could it be an earth? If so, where do I look etc?

Hi people, I am having trouble selecting gears. They are very stiff this morning, the gears were really easy and all of a sudden, they were solid, now they are just really stiff. Any help appreciated. (dci 115)

I have sorted this problem by taking off the cable at the gearbox and lubricating the selector shaft that goes into the top of the gearbox. Moved it back and forth a few times and it has solved the problem. Hope this is helpful to anyone else who has the same problem - Stephen Boak from Mid-Lothian (Edinburghshire)

I have a Nissan Primastar 04 114,000 mls. Engine problem. It wont go above 2,800 rpm. It has had a new turbo and air flow meter fitted. This only happened when I got the new turbo fitted, can anybody please advise?

I had a similar problem, ended up replacing the cat as it was all clogged up from when the turbo failed - Stephen Cannon from Lancashire

Hello mate, have you tried to clean EGR value, I had the same problem with my Primastar after an engine rebuild. Dirt had stopped valve closing, no turbo. Good luck - Dave Smith from England

My Nissan Primastar 2.0 manual has suddenly become very difficult to get into gears even more so when the engine is cold. It’s easier to select the gears when the engine is warm but still a lot stiffer than it was. Thanks, Steve.

Try lubricating the selector cable in the engine bay. I had the same problem and the lubricating worked - Barry Coull from Aberdeenshire

On the 2007 2.0 version, it’s on the bonnet. You should see a black box type thing or the vent on the bonnet. It’s under there - Barry Coull from Aberdeenshire

A couple of months ago I purchased a Primastar se dci 100 short wheel base but it has a leak underneath the engine. A garage has put new seals in it (I think turbo seals) but it is still leaking even when it is standing still. It is not the plastic tray residue from when the seals where changed. Maybe its a diesel leak... No one knows... Can anyone help please? (SWB SE DCI 100)
