Hi. I have imported my Nissan Note from the EU. Now I have to make some changes on my car to make it suitable for UK registration. Is there any other method to convert it`s headlights without changing the headlights (for example to switch a tumbler)? Thank you in advance for any answer. (Acenta)

While I was driving my Nissan Note the other day a light came on near the km counter, and it said the word limit - - and a speed meter picture. Could someone help me to find out what it means?
It`s possible that you’ve caught the limit switch on your steering wheel. It’s the rocker switch that’s coupled with the cruise control. It’s all in the handbook Craig from England
It’s the speed limiter control on the steering wheel I Suan from Cheshire

How do you get the glove box out of a Nissan Note? The manual says undo the three screws and it should pull out but I have tried this and it doesn`t move. Any ideas anyone? Thanks in anticipation. (tekna)
There are more than 3 screws, check top and bottom of box. If removing to change pollen cabin filter don’t bother, easy to change with gen Nissan filter, which comes in two parts - filter and clip on front. Ray Thomas from Northumberland

I’ve put £25 of diesel in my Nissan Note and the dial has moved to half a tank but on the digital dash it is saying I’ve got 38 miles left. We’ve tried adjusting the settings and turning the car off and on again but no change. Any ideas?
Hey, I’ve also had this problem just. Was the car by any chance still turned on or still running as the computer cannot register that level has changed whilst still on! You need to drive away at it you will see the miles rise gradually! Not a worrying problem! Wayne McCammon from County Tyrone

My Nissan Note`s fog light is staying on. Any suggestions?
No need to remove the rear bumper as suggested on other threads. The simple solutiion would be to remove the fuse, however, amazingly the Note’s handbook does not identify a fuse for the rear fog light. The red lense levers away from the rear bumper as shown in the handbook. Approach this very gently with a small screwdriver on the righthand side (when facing rear) and you will reveal a metal clip which you can then unclip with your finger before easing the lense completely away from the bumper. If the bulb has been on constantly it will of course be very hot so be warned. Just did mine and al`s okay David Worrall from Gloucestershire

Can anyone tell me why I hear a popping noise every time I turn the steering wheel of my Nissan Note? It started a few weeks ago and has got progressively worse. At first I had to be turning a corner and it was worse when I turned left. But now it happens when I just move the wheel slightly and when I turn the wheel both left and right. It is especially loud when I reverse into my drive and have to turn the wheel to do so (possibly louder as the car is quieter/at a low speed and no other traffic is around). I would really appreciate any suggestions. Can anyone help? Thank you.
I am sure that the arm near the front wheel needs to be replaced. I had a similar problem C Pits from Warwickshire

My Nissan Note has started beeping like an alarm going off. This lasts for a minute and then it repeats itself. What could be wrong? (Acenta 1.4 diesel)
Sorry not an answer but my 2010 Note Visia started doing this tonight. I`d also appreciate an answer please Ruth C from Derbyshire.
I had the same problem with mine. It’s probably the sensor on the passenger seat, which can go off even if you have a handbag on the seat. Basically the car thinks you are carrying a passenger who is not wearing a seat belt, hence the alarm sounds. If the alarm sounds and you don`t have anything on the seat, then the sensor is faulty and needs to be fixed (as mine did) Karen P from Surrey

I had my Nissan Note valeted last weekend and ever since then the front passenger warning light and chime come on for 90 seconds after I get past 15 mph, even though the seat is completely empty. Has the weight sensor under the passenger seat been damaged or is there another simpler explanation? I can get the alarm to stop by keeping the seatbelt buckled up but it`s a bit of a nuisance. Can anyone help?.

My Nissan Note has a problem. When I start the car it will start okay, but when I switch off the car I cannot get the key out unless I move the gears a lot and then it will come out. My mechanic cannot find out what the problem is. Can anyone help me please?
If it is automatic, the gear selector has to be in p before you can take the key out. Perhaps it is the same with manual gearbox ie in neutral vj from England

Can anyone tell me how to remove the oil stick on the automatic gearbox of my Nissan Note? (1.6 engine N tec)
We’ve got the same model - 60 plate Nissan Note automatic 1.6 SVE version (the next trim up from the N-Tec). For us the dip stick is the big circular yellow handle at the bottom just below the engine in the middle. Just pull it up and it should just come out. We’ve had to do that recently as ours was saying Oil Lo, when checking though it shows the oil is halfway between the H and L so I always thought that was fine (but this was after running the engine a while so could be inaccurate). If you mean how do you open it to fill oil - that is a good question. From what I can guess the opening is the black plastic screw cap with the oil can on it to the right of the engine, but I tried all sorts to get that thing open and it doesn’t seem to open... have to get someone to help me. I’m guessing that is just a turn screw but it might be tight (ours actually looks like it might have even melted to the engine and if that’s the case we’ve got a major problem!) Dar from Shropshire

I have a problem with my Nissan Note`s back passenger seats. The double one doesn`t want to fold down so I can’t transport any big things. The line is still connected and the lock sounds as if it is working okay, but the seat back is still not folding. Any suggestions?
I had the same problem Simon, This is what worked for me. Pull the seat right back. From the middle ,peel back the felt trim strip at the bottom of the seat and ease it ovet the luggage loops. If you look inside whilst using the release lever you will see a cable pulling on a small metal bar. I managed to get my finger on this and press firmly whilst using the release lever and hey presto ! the seat dropped forward. Wth the seat now down I gave the mechanism a couple of blasts of WD40 and it now works fine. No problem with getting the chrismas tree in the car this year. Good Luck Woody from Warwickshire

The interior boot light of my Nissan Note will not go out. When the car`s interior lamps are both switched off and the door is open the light on the dashboard stays on, even though all of the doors are closed. Also the indicators no longer flash when locking the car but they do when opening it. Are the two faults related and what could the cause be?
If the light stays on then it is saying the car is open so the lights won’t flash. Make sure you check all the doors are shut properly Brendan from Lancashire

Has anybody else had trouble removing the electric wires/plug from the back of the headlight bulb on a Nissan Note? I have read and re-read the user manual but no matter how hard I pull I cannot remove the wires to be able to replace the bulb. I have even tried bypassing this part of the manual and unclipping the retaining wire bracket, but still cannot get to remove it as the plastic plug is covered in a rubber seal. Any advice please?

My Nissan Note will not start at all. I have owned the car for over a year and never had a problem. When I turn the key in the ignition it just clicks with no ignition start up at all. The headlights and central locking are all functional and working. I had a jump start, turned it on the first attempt, ran the engine for two hours` driving and parked. When I went out to move the car from the drive it was dead again, although the headlights and central locking etc were all working fine. I am on holiday visiting my family just now. Is this a recovery job or an easy fix? I read about installation procedure after battery installation in my manual, should I try this after another jump start?
Just needs a new battery Brendan from Lancashire
Perhaps the battery is dead, or the alternator has malfunctioned, need to have them checked vj from England

My Nissan Note’s fog lights fails to go out, even when the ignition is off and the lights are turned off. I have had to remove the bulb and the car needs bulb to be working correctly to pass its MOT. Can anyone help or advise?
The problem is a body control module, cost is around £400 at a dealer. It is a easy fix if you know a bit about car electrics. All i did was to trace the two wires, they travel up drivers cill under carpet, one is red, most of the wires are white then I cut the wire on the lower dash right hand side. I fitted an illumanated switch, cost was £1.99 from Maplins. This has to three terminals and at least 10 amp then I ran two wires down to the wire I had cut joined one wire to the one end and the second wire to the outher end so the two switch wires bridge the wire I had cut to get the switch to work follow instructions on switch. This took about a hour from start to finish, all wires hidden looks proper job. Warning: this is the start of further problems as this body module controls central locking and tailgate lock as well as wiper on back tail gate not opening was my first problem, again cheap fix if you know what you are doing. Nissan need to be notified about these problems, if enough of us tell Nissan maybe eventually a recall to sort it will happen. I don’t think so oops you need to get a sticker so the switch is marked fog light or it can still fail M.O.T. Robert Parish from Shropshire

Intermittent problem at cold start-up - short grinding noise from starter motor then continuous grinding noise from engine both in Park and when engaging gear. Noise disappears after approx 60 seconds and car then runs normally. My Nissan Note is still under warranty but the dealer is unable to trace any fault - any ideas? (Nissan Note 1.6 Acenta Automatic)
If the dealer can’t fix it, contact NMGB customer services direct. You will find their details on the net Dave Adams from England

Can anyone advise me of how I can tell if the auto box is reaching top gear when set in drive mode as I seem to be using a lot of fuel. When driving at a constant 30mph the rev counter is around 2,000 rpm, is this normal? It’s giving me a return of around 25 mpg at the moment. I haven’t had the vehicle long and to me it seems to need another gear so the revs drop and hence use less fuel. Any advice? (1.6 auto)
Hello Mark, the NOTE auto box does not change into 4th (top) gear until the speed reaches about 42mph. If you are accelerating hand, it will hold 3rd gear up to about 48/50mph. When you reach about 42mph, back off the accelerator and 4th gear will engage. 25mph is very low. I achieve about 35mpg around town and up to 45mpg on a run. Hope this helps Christopher Lee from Bedfordshire
