Hi I bumped my car into a post at work, so I got a door from a breaker and fitted it. I wasn't expecting the problem that followed. I swapped the barrel so my emergency key entry works, however the replacement passenger door now does the opposite of all the rest of the doors when I use electric locking, both the internal switch and the fob. Is there a trick? Should I pull the fuse and let the comp reset or something? Initially I thought it might be that I put the door on in a locked state when all the rest were unlocked. got me stumped.

My Nissan Micra SVEN 2004 heater is not working. What could be the reason for this ?

Answers

check your coolant level, if you mean you have no heat then this may indicate a head gasket problem as this has happened twice to me in the past..! check coolant if neccessay top up to required level, then check for any leaks visable under the car. start the car and let it idle and see if heat comes thru, if so and no outward signs of a leak i would suggest the head gasket. Or if you mean the blower motor doesn't alter speed and only works on the highest setting then this is generally a much easier fix, the resisitor pack needs changing. What i mean by this is simply for example speeds 1 2 and 3 are governed by a resistor reducing the voltage to the motor hence making it run slower, but top speed by-passes the resistor completely therefore allowing it to run at what is actually the motors normal running speed, hope this helps regards graham graham marshall from West Yorkshire

Hi this happened to me and I replaced the thermostat that is on the cylinder head. I would think that this is stuck open and so the water isn't able to heat up. The temp gauge on the dash will more than likely still show blue. Brian from Essex

Hi - 2005 Micra 1.2 been running fine and had a new batter about a month ago but today we get in it and turn the key and everything starts flashing and clicking but engine makes no attempt to fire or turn over. Everything goes mad - doors and boot unlock and lock over and over and every light on dash flashes and clicks. It's like a thing possessed. Any ideas what it could be? I know absolutely nothing about engines!

I made a phone call for someone to come and help and after 5 minutes I tried to re-start which it did first time and then carried on with my journey problem free. Answers

Hi Jan Dunn! before starting the car, Check the levels again of the oil, anti freeze coolant and water. If the water level has dropped, then you have a problem with the cooling system as there may be a leakage somewhere. Also if the oil level has dropped, and there is no leakage from the engine it could be the piston rings are worn out. Reuben from Tanzania

I turned the ignition key in my 3 door Hatchback 2007 which had being going perfectly the night before only to hear a clicking noise and it was if the battery was flat. I had just travelled 50 miles ...in daylight no lights or windscreen washers had been used. I had not left any inside lights on . The Nats security light kept flashing and the clicking noise became louder if I tried to switch engine on. I charged battery for 12 hours, then tried to switch ignition on and now all hazard lights in dashboard have lite up and car battery still appears flat although windscreen wipers worked for a min. Any ideas as to what might be wrong? I will ( if I can get it started take it to a garage). Thankyou Anna

hi, my rear wiper will not switch off,it stays on constant i have removed the fuse,is the fault in the back or the stalk on steering column ? please help.

Answers

I had a similar problem with my 2003 1.2SE Auto, but the fault was with the front wipers and very intermittent. I always suspected it was worse when raining heavily and thought it was the sensor but I could go weeks without it going, then the wipers would just start up. They might stop, they might not. At one garage the wipers refused to co-operate (by showing the fault), another garage mechanic didn't want to know, on the way to another garage they started up just a mile from home, then stopped by the time I got there. I refused to take the car on long journeys as the noise was irritating and didn't do the blades or screen any good, and most days it sat on my parking bay while I used public transport. Googling the problem threw up about 3 different solutions. In despair I took it into Nissan who replaced the steering column switch unit. Cost just over £260. The mechanic had checked their website and they had issued a bulletin in 2003, saying this unit could fail. When I revealed to the mechanic and receptionist that sometimes when using an indicator the wipers would stop, they gave each other a knowing look and said 'then we think we might have found the fault'. I had this done in Autumn 2015 after a year of it, because I didn't know which way to turn. The replacement certainly seems to have worked. Hope this helps other owners. Janet from Greater London

Hi, my engine light came on so I took the car to my garage. He put the computer on it and was very confused when it came up with a code for a transmission switch. My car is manual. He cleared the code as he couldn't find anything wrong, the car drives fine. The code came on again so I took it back. The same code had come up again and he said some other incorrect codes came up and he cleared them all. The engine light came on again so he is going to research it. Do you have any idea what this could be? The car makes no noises and drives really well. Many thanks

My 02 micra has got a very stiff clutch pedal. It is that stiff that the cable snapped and after I replaced it the clutch pedal broke away from the bulkhead. I repaired this by drilling through the bulkhead and bolting the pedal assembly back on. This worked but my clutch was still stiff so I messed about with the adjustments again but it remained stiff and again my cable has snapped. Has anyone got any ideas why the clutch is so stiff. Cheers.

Hi I have a Nissan micra 2003 plate but I haven't got any power to my radio any ideas?

Answers

Hi Colin, I am currently trying to trace a similar problem on my daughters Micra. The first port of call are the fuses. There is a fuse box below and to the right of the steering wheel, the radio fuse is doubled up with the electric mirrors -so if they work it is probably OK. There is a second fuse box forward of the battery and another audio fuse in there. I believe there is a further fuse inside the radio, to access this the radio must be removed -this is as far as I have progressed so far! To remove the radio just google it and watch the video! Good luck, David David from Norfolk

Hi Colin, I took the radio out and there is a further fuse in the back! This was also OK! So I re-seated all 3 fuses, plugged it back in and 'Hey Presto' -it worked! I have no idea what fixed it but happy daze! Good luck with yours! David from Norfolk

hi there, yesterday I ran into the back of another car . Car in front had stopped and I was perhaps travelling at around 10 miles per hour, could only see some damage to her passenger rear wing, but nothing really compared to mine. My Nissan looks a mess to me, certainly the bonnet the bumper, the grill, one of the headlights and the radiator coolant leaked out. I know you cant see the damage but I just wondered whether they will repair it or write it of, I would hope they can repair it, do you have any knowledge on a car repairers ability to restore front end bumps or whether they will write it off. I suffered no whiplash felt nothing really and the airbag did not go off. Doors unaffected and the car started fine. Do you know a what point they would most certainly write a car off? many thanks Ros

I have a 2000 plate micra celebration with 65,000 miles on the clock It's my first car since passing my test and it's great just to take the kids out and all that. Anyway this is my problem and hoping some wee smart cookie could help me out ?? Changing gear seems to get increasingly difficult. If the car hasn't been anywhere it's quite easy but if I've been for a drive it seems to get harder. Also since I've had the car the gear stick won't return to the centre when in neutral, if I move it to the left or right it will stay there. So it seems to be the hotter and more used the car gets the more difficult it is to change gear.

Answers

The K11 shape micras have a Universal joint that can be accessed from under the car once you drop the exhaust heatshield down, If you are lucky it may be salvageable via lots of W/D40 and moving the selector into all the gears and hope it frees up, if that is unsuccessful it could require a new U/J and possibly the springs that centre the selector, You may find the Heat shield could be missing already, due to corrosion of the heatshield or the car being previously ground out, people regularly take them off as an easy fix but do not replace them, which would explain why it gets harder to move on longer journeys, If it is missing it is advisable to try and find a replacement. My 97 Micra shakes violently above 35 mph. The problem started at a higher speed, but got lower. Steering wheel shakes and whole car vibrates. My mechanic thought it was the gear box, but we've changed that and the shake is still there. Mechanic has tried all obvious causes. Any ideas?

Answers

My K11 does something very similar, mine is the engine stabilizer, Due to the oxygen sensor on the manifold not heating up, Thus making the car extremely hard to keep running in the cold, I would recommend that, also would be an idea to get the wheel balance checked on All 4 wheels. Hope this helps. Guesst from Kent
