My Micra has a switch next to the steering wheel to turn the power steering on or off. It is connected to an electric motor which operates the pump. It is essentially is a bottle of power steering fluid attached to this pump that makes the power steering work. Recently the pump stopped working and upon inspection, it turns out the comutator is worn out (the car is 22 years old). I can't find anything about this any where online and I've never seen this type of system in another micra but I need to find a replacemement motor so I can get it through MOT, can anyone help me? Its a 1994 1.3 k11 5 door model. Many thanks.

Hi I have a 1998 Nissan micra vibe car which has been amazing the last 8 years. Only now the clutch is not letting me go into 2nd gear now and again. I pump the pedal and eventually it all works again....could it just be some clutch fluid is needed and if so is it the plastic largeish receptacle to the right of the battery? Any advice would help as I cannot afford to put it in the garage for diagnosis... Many thanks
The clutch on these models is cable operated the cable adjustor is under battery moody from Surrey

Hi, I filled up with fuel and the gauge did not move after driving a few miles. I tapped the gauge glass and it started to move, so I guess it's the gauge that has stuck. Is there any way I can fix this myself ? Regards Evan

HI There, My car is all of a sudden jerking a bit here and there when I am driving. Worries me a bit as I dont feel 100% safe in the car anymore (it loses a bit of power sometimes and then jerks) no matter what gear I am in? Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks, Monique!
It could be the coil packs need replaced they are located in the engine below spark plugs Roland0 from County Antrim
I get this. My radiator has a slow leak. If the level gets too low you get this lurching and hardly any power. Solved by adding more water and antifreeze directly into radiator. Helen McLaren from Buckinghamshire

My Nissan Micra Reg LG03 GRK opens the boot itself and drains the battery when garaged or parked for any length of time. Two reasons have been suggested for this fault - one is the failure of a component for which I have been quoted £600 plus labour costs to put it right - a lot for an old car. The other suggestion is that it is the failure of the independent switch system on the boot handle which is causing the problem: this would be far cheaper to put right I think. Obviously I don't want to spend money then find I have to repair it again! Final question - was this boot opening problem a design fault on this model which was acknowledged by Nissan and called in for repair? Thank you in anticipation. B.May
hi i have heard a couple of answers to this first the boot press button on the boot is faulty (common fault) get a second hand one from e-bay .Second it could be the wiring in the boot where it goes into the body hope this is helpfull john barton from Merseyside

My car has a air lock. How can it be fixed? Is it risky to drive with a car that has airlock problem? Does this mean my car will consume more petrol that the usual?

Had my clutch replaced three months ago after failing at 17,000 mile (understand premature clutch failure was a problem on the 2011 model). Since clutch change gears have not been right. Really struggle to change up from 1st to 2nd and down from 3rd to 2nd and (feels very notchy and like there is something metallic in the way) and 2nd to 1st, but no grinding. All other gears change perfectly. The changing up problem tends to subside once car is warmed up Car been back to mechanic who `couldn't see a problem' but supposedly rebled the hydraulics which made no difference. Taken for a second opinion by my regular mechanic who could see there was a problem straight away, but does not know what it is, he tried replacing the gearbox oil and greasing everything but it has made no difference. He has rung Nissan who have given him a couple of other things to try. Also had a mechanic friend look at it. None seem to think it is the clutch itself. I find it hard to believe that a car that had perfect gears before clutch change, suddenly developed a gearbox fault the day after, but if Nissan's ideas don't work next step is going to have to be looking at the gearbox. Has anyone had similar problems?

I am thinking of buying a 2004 model. The seats are speckled with black mould. Is this likely to have been just a window left open - there don't seem to be any gaps - or could there be a more serious reason, such as problem with the a/c? Also, if I found I couldn't get rid of the black spots, where might I get exact fitting covers, not just universal fit, for less than the £280 pound mark which is advertised online? Thank you for any advice. Gerry
