Yellow light comes on intermittently. Cutting out on slowing down. It will restart immediately and otherwise is going as good as ever. The fault is frightfully dangerous as I have to cross a murderous two- laned by-pass to collect grandchildren. Thanks, Ann

Answers

Ann, by "the yellow lights" I assume you mean the engine management light... if this comes on your engine can (and sounds as if it IS" go into what they call limp mode where you will lose poser. There are many reasons, some simple, some complex, why this should happen and you ought to get the vehicle connected to an OBD computer to get it fault read to see what the problem is.. it could be purely electrical connection, failed sensor or the like, but it could be something potentially more serious. Thanks R Evans. She connected to a computer last evening and possible faults are Fuel Pump Sensor or Regulator - failing these the Pump itself. One of the best Agatha Christies I read, long before the Space Star era, was "Why didn't they ask Evans" !! Ann Ann O'Sullivan from Ireland

I have a knocking noise which has just appeared when i wiggle steering, it happens when i wiggle steering left to right stationary and also when im driving, it is a single clunk each time i move it not so much when driving, i have checked power steering levels and also suspension and seems to be no issues, i believe from research it may be track rod ends or cv joints? What i am after though is can i still drive the car 70 miles to get home as i am going to part ex the car next week and don’t really want to fork out money for a car that will probably be scrapped. I have just charged my battery. As a result the speedometer and rev counter is not working. The dial arm is below the pin on t he dial not on top of the pin which would allow a reading on the dial to be made. Can anybody advise how I can reset the speedometer and rev.counter back to normality. Regards Janner

Answers

Disconnect your battery completely for about 15 - 30 minutes, then hook it up again and both speedometer and rev counter needles should return to normal again. It's a pretty straighforward fix which I performed myself a couple of months ago (Space Star 1.6 from 2002) Kasper Schurer from Denmark

I have a space star 2013/2014 (nedcar version, not the 1999-2005 version). Should it only have one reverse light, or two? Only one reverse light lights up on one side when reversing. And one reverse light on one side makes my eyebrow arch on one side too! Is this really the new way to do reverse lights, like my dealer claims?

Hi, Has anyone experience an annoying knock/rattle coming from the vicinity of the front offside on a Mitsubishi Space Star, 2005 reg, 1.3 petrol. It only appears when driving on bad road surfaces and there is no problem whatsoever on good smooth roads. We have checked everything but cannot find any wear to any parts or bushes etc. and it has just passed its MOT with flying colours. It appears to be from the area around the footwell near to the Accelerator pedal. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi the fuel level reading on the computer doesn't always reset when fuel is put in. I`m not sure if it`s the amount of fuel that goes or not, sometimes it resets after a while but normally I get the warning sound driving me nuts. Then at next refuel it can work as it should. Help please

Hi, Im assuming you have the dashboard HUD unit that shows some very limited information on its green display which can be changed by the button on the factory head unit? Well if so, I solved that very annoying fuel reset problem by first setting the display to average mpg and then, secondly, removing and replacing the standard Mitsubishi radio with an aftermarket stereo. Its not difficult to do and you will ultimately have a slightly superior sound coming from the basic door speakers. Kris from Bournemouth

The turbo went in my car. I have had it fixed, also had a new seal put in, the problem is that oil has got into the engine and exhaust system, so when I rev the car past 2 the engine runs away with itself and black smoke pours out of the exhaust. How do I clean this out? Can I do it by keeping the car running as long as possible, hoping it will eventually clean itself?
