Hi. We have just had our 56 plate Kia Carens serviced and the garage couldn’t manage to get to the oil filter to change it. They could see it but said that there was no way to get any purchase on it as the gap is too small. They did suggest that the engine had to come out but I can’t see that. Any information on how it is done? Thank you. (Diesel)

Hi. I have a problem with my Kia Carens 2004. Every day when the radiator is full of water the following day the level is low by about half a litre. I cannot see a leak when I stop the engine, but the water in the reserve coolant is not coming back to the radiator even in very hot temperatures. I have replaced the radiator cup but there is still a problem. Any ideas? (1800 cc)

I am having a problem putting my Kia Carens into 4th gear. Can anyone advise please?
Answers
This is a common problem and can happen anytime. The selector plate gets an edge (or bear) at a certain RPM, the gear seems to engage fine, but others it grinds. You can either strip down the gearbox or like me leave it and let itself bed in (mine started two years ago). Hope this helps - Andy Gardiner from Lancashire

Can you fit three car seats in the second row of a 2008 Kia Carens? We’ve got a Recaro Monza (no isofix) and a Brittax again no iso-fix. Also have a problem getting car into first gear. Very sticky, but nothing came up in the service and MOT (last week). Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi. I hope someone can help. I am considering buying a 2006 Kia Carens 2.0 CRDi LE with about 53,000 miles on the clock. I know that the 2003 Carens has a timing belt. Does the 2006 model also have a belt or a chain? Many thanks. (2.0CRDi LE)

My Carens stops automatically when I am driving. Any idea why?
Answers
If you mean engine stops, I experienced ours caused by dirty fuel filter. Root cause is frequent emptying of fuel tank prompting precipitates sucked from tank to fuelfilter. We changed the filter then refilling once tank is already at minimum, but should be before fuel indicator blink - Reynaldo Tumbaga from Philippines

Hi experts, please kindly advice me. I bought a Kia Carens 2005 1.8 L/S A/T an import in December 2009 and ever since I have experienced difficulty with the car not speeding or moving nicely. As it was my 1st time to drive an automatic, I didn’t bother much. Now lately, it totally refused to move any further and according to the mechanic servicing the car, there is a leakage from the gearbox or rather the gearbox oil is pressing out of the ’dip stict’. What do you think can be the cause of the problem? Will a rebuilding of the gearbox be a good idea? You are highly appreciated thanks in advance. (1.8 L/S A/T)

Recently purchased year old Carens diesel and have been aware of fume smell and taste on my lips when driving. Have had it checked at Kia dealership who could not locate problem. I am still very aware of smell even on short journey. Any suggestions what it might be? Previously owned petrol Sportage for 3 YRS WITH NO PROBLEMS.
