My Jaguar X-Type Estate’s rear wiper is not working - are there micro switches? If so, where? And where is the relay for rear wiper located? Fuses are OK. (2-litre diesel SE)

Replace the spline at end of wiper where wiper and window meet it rusts up. It is 40 pounds for a new one from Jaguar - Nicky from Ayrshire

Why does the Jaguar X-Type’s drivers door electric window sometimes not close fully? This happened on my last X type too...

I am looking at buying a 2005 2.0d X-Type Estate for a very low price as it has 140k on the clock. Does anyone know how long these engines will run for? Will I get a couple of years running out of it? It has full service history.

This is definitely a case of "they all do that mate" - eventually! The problem is the switch on the tailgate opening window. Once damp gets into it, replacement is the only option. The fix is a simple DIY job. Unfortunately, the replacement switch unit is a pricey £55. I have sealed my new one with silicon grease and so we’ll see if it lasts - Keith Straw from Devon

I turn on the engine and the glass tail gate opens. I have to get out to close it every time I start up. Does this mean stripping out the entire interior to find the faulty wire? The external temperature gauge reads correctly when the engine is turned on but usually goes up to about 50 degrees soon after. Any ideas? (2.0 diesel)

I had the same problem. It is an easy fix, there is a micro switch on the handle that opens the glass tail gate - the handle is v-shaped. Price is between 70 to 80 pounds. Hope this helps - Nicky from Ayrshire
