My Jaguar X type diesel 2005 cuts out on the motorway at about 50 to 70 mph in rainy weather. Going down the gears seems to keep it going, but very scary. Jaguar diagnostics cannot find a problem.

My 2003 Jaguar X-type 3.0 has been running hot only on the freeway...It reads, cruise control not available and the engine light stays on...I pull over and turn off the car for a couple of minutes and start it back up and it runs fine for 10 minutes and repeats the same thing...The coolant tank is full, but when it initially happened the coolant tank was empty, I filled it up and it is not leaking on the ground and has maintained its proper level for a couple of weeks...I went to a mechanic and he cleared the codes and said that it may be air in the system and to run the car for a half hour with the coolant cap off and with the heat up high in the car...I did that and drove the car a week with no problem...I then rode the freeway for 30 minutes and no problem, however when coming back 8 hours later that day on the freeway it overheated again...I then took off the coolant cap immediately after pulling over and stuck my finger in the coolant and it was hot, but not scorching hot... Is my car really overheating or is it just showing it's overheating?

Hi, My 2006 petrol 2.5 X type sport (29k miles) makes a slight metallic crackling noise from underneath when accelerating and engine at normal temperature. Also acceleration up hill in 2nd and 3rd gears is a bit lumpy. Other than that the car runs and sounds superb and has a full Jaguar service history. Any thoughts please.

My engine management light came on and the diagnostic tests said that it was the O2 sensor bank 1. So I replaced it and the light stayed on. The car judders after driving for a while, its guzzling fuel and there is a gurgling noise coming from the air intake. I even had the bank 2 sensor replaced to no avail. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Hope I can help you guys. My engine management light came on, I got in touch with my mechanic and what had happened was the fixing locators on the engine cover had broken or come adrift and were pushing on the wiring loom for the air flow meter. All I did was go to a scrap yard and find a Mondeo, find the loom and cut about a foot off, unplug it then find someone who can wire it in and should be fine. Mind you I am talking a 2.0 litre diesel. phil hoare from West Midlands

Hi guys, please help! So I was driving hone having had no previous issues with the car and I came off the motorway and from nowhere the car lost a lot of power. It began juddering violently through all the gears (worst in 1st and 2nd) and making a whooshing sound. No warning lights have come on and since stopping I drove it around my street an hour later and the whooshing sound is very loud with total loss of power. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Jaguar X Type 3.0 which gives me problems when I try to pump gas. The pump nozzle won't stay on - keeps clicking off and won't let the gas flow steadily into the tank. Never ever had this problem with another car. Can't figure if it's something I'm doing wrong or not. Has anyone had this problem?

I bought my jaguar x type 2001 second hand. It's a 2.5 lit petrol auto. Of late it's refusing to start because the air con keeps switching itself on and draining the battery. If I disconnect the battery then the car will start in most of the cases. However even after disconnecting, it has refused to start and have had to rely on friends and family to jump start the car for me. Does anyone know what might be causing the aircon to switch itself on or has anyone else had a similar problem?
