Has anyone had any problems starting their Hyundai ix35? It seems that the immobilizer does not read the key...

What’s the mileage range for a Hyundai ix35 4x4 diesel, full tank?

I’m thinking of buying the IX35, premium 4x4 diesel. I’m interested to learn of owners’ experience with the ISG stop go technology. I can’t find any reference regarding this system from any user. I am concerned as the route I use daily means I would stop at least 20 times per trip, in which case the engine is immobilised each time, the gear is neutralised, and foot taken off the clutch, the engine is restarted when the clutch is depressed. Grateful for any info, good or bad.

I purchased a Hyundai ix35 2 litre 4x4 auto diesel premium late December 2010 and have covered just over 2,000 miles. In this time, the vehicle has failed to start on two occasions the vehicle being completely dead, the instrument cluster remaining blank and the remote locking system inoperative, I had to lock all doors manually. The first time this happened I contacted the rescue service who couldn’t reach me for at least two hours. Fortunately, I was parked in a shopping centre so my wife and I went for a snack. On returning to the vehicle after approx one hour, I pressed the remote and the doors unlocked. I realised the fault whatever it was had cleared and sure enough it had. The instrument cluster illuminated and the engine burst into life. I cancelled the call out and went straight back to the dealer, they asked me to leave the vehicle with them and gave me a courtesy car. They phoned me the following day to say no fault could be identifiedand that I must have done something wrong. They went on to say that if it reoccurred I should phone them. About four to five weeks later, the same thing happened and fortunately I was on my own drive. I phoned them as requested and they told me to get the vehicle to them the following day if it started. I tried restarting a number of times and after about two to three hours, as on the previous occasion, the fault had cleared itself. The vehicle has now been in the dealership for over a week and the fault cannot be identified, indeed the dealership gave the impreesion they do not believe me. I have another problem and I believe it is in some way connected. Every time I top up the fuel tank, the average MPG readout either resets itself to zero or to a random low number, there is no consistency. I have been told this is normal with the ix35, if this were normal it would always reset to zero. I don’t believe this is normal, as far as I am concerned it will only change to zero when you press and hold the reset button. I believe there is a connection because when the failures to start occur the average MPG returns to zero and the display changes from average MPG to (Trip ’A’). Can anyone throw some light on this and has anyone else experienced a similar occurrence? (2 litre 4x4 auto diesel premium)

Have you fixed the problem? Does the radio reset itself also? - Wayne Garraway from New Zealand
We are experiencing exactly the same problem - sometimes the car will not lock and other times cannot even get in. It has happened approx four times since purchasing two months ago. It is booked into the garage tomorrow - their initial comment was that it may be a motor needs replacing. I will update you once know more - Sooz from Staffordshire

I have recently purchased a new ix35 2L 4x4 auto Diesel and every time I add fuel, the average MPG resets itself to either zero or a random low number. The handbook clearly states that to reset the computer, the trip must be held in for 2 seconds. As far as I am concerned adding fuel should not cause the computer to reset. Yet I am told by the Hyundai dealer that this is normal. I find this hard to believe.

I have the same problem with a reset of the mpg on refueling. I have the additional gremlin of an occasional reset when simply starting the car... ix35 2l diesel - Mike from England
