Hi. I was driving my 1996 Ford Transit Tipper along the road when it suddenly cut out and now it won`t start again, not even with a towrope. If I bump it there is no noise when I am trying to turn it over. Has anyone got any suggestions? (190)

My Ford Transit Tipper has no main headlights, full beams horn or wipers. I had the body control module replaced - what else can it be?

When I start my Ford Transit Tipper moving it sometimes makes a high pitch noise. Not all the time, only when it is in gear and on the go, for just a few seconds. I hear the noise only when the road is level straight, not downhill or uphill. Does anyone know what the problem might be? I greased all the nipples of the guardian shaft but it is still doing the same noise. Thank you.

I have a 2005 Ford Transit. It suddenly lost power and threw loads of black smoke out and only did 10mph. When starting from cold it was OK for 5 miles but then the same happened again. I changed filters and cleaned the egr but now it won’t start at all. Can anyone help?

They can be a nightmare to bleed up! What I generally do is pressurise the fuel tank, hold the filter an inch below the filter head until its full. Pop it back on, crack no1 injector off, turn the engine over, should only take a few seconds for fuel to come through, tightened no1 back up and it should be fine! Don’t just crack the injectors off and turn the engine, 1) you will flatten your batt, 2) burn out your starter motor, 3) damage pump inj etc! Hope this helps - Dave Thomas from Yorkshire

The front near side brake is jammed on my Ford Transit. It has been standing over the Christmas holidays. It feels like the ABS is stuck on. I have tried taking ABS fuses out and re-connecting but to no avail. Any advice?

I have got a really bad vibration going through my whole Ford Transit Tipper van when I get to about 60 (50 when it has a heavy load). I have checked the propshaft bolts and they are tight. There is a bit of play on the bearings that mounts the prop to the body is that what is causing it or something else?
Answers
Remove the propshaft, taking care you don’t lose your gearbox oil. Check the U/J joints move freely through all angles - Martin Jones from Essex

My brakes on my Ford Transit Tipper have gone soft. They keep going right to the floor. I have to take my foot off for them to go hard again. Has my master cylinder gone?
Answers
If there are no visible leaks then it could well be the master cylinder - Martin Jones from Essex

Can anyone tell me why my Ford Transit Tipper loses power when the glow plug light flashes on the dashboard?
Answers
There is a problem somewhere, it needs to go on diagnostic equipment to find the fault, could well be the EGR valve, very common fault on the Transit - Martin Jones from Essex

I have a 3 way tipper and the engine light keeps coming on once engine has been started for 10 minutes it then flickers on and off. I have had a new oil filter and new oil put into it plus had a new timing chain changed on it and also a new oil switch. Does anyone know why this is still happening?

My horn doesn’t work on the steering wheel but works as an alarm. Why is this?
Answers
I think the alarm is a separate hooter, get someone to operate horn and check for power to horn which I think is underneath nearside front. If you have power, it’s the horn itself. If no power, check fuse. If that’s okay, it’s probably the "clock spring" which also is the sensor for the airbag. If you are going to attempt to change this, BE CAREFUL and seek professional advise first - Martin Jones from Essex

Hi , I have a 115 t350 Transit Tipper, done 42,000 miles. It drives fine but when you get to fourth and fifth it makes a whiney grindy noise behind cab underneath and if you put clutch pedal in and out while driving, it sounds worse. Any idea?

The glow coil light is staying on. Why?
Answers
There is an engine management fault, get it code read. A common problem is the EGR valve, if it is this and engine runs okay leave it until you do have problems - Martin Jones from Essex
If it is the code for egr valve get it fixed. I was told to leave it as my truck was running okay and further faults happened - Ceri Hall from Wales

The engine starts but doesn’t rev up and I’ve got no power going to back lights. Why?
Answers
Could be the electronic throttle pedal at fault, check for a broken wire leading to rear lamps for loss of power. Disconnect the batteries, wait 30 minutes then check connections on the pedal and on slave on fuel distributor. Back lights, you will have checked bulbs or supply and all fuses as well as the fuse for the circuit. Sounds like the connector plug is disconnected, tippers are chasis cab so loomage tied alond beems then look for all earth wires and connectors. Easy fix - Pauly Milburn from Yorkshire
