Hi I have a 2006 ford transit connect tdci the alternator went wrong almost caught fire I've since replaced that and the battery and the immobilsor light started to come up so I had an auto locksmith come out and try program a key it wouldn't accept any key to be programmed he tried to whipe the system of all keys and then reprogram keys and still wouldn't work he advised it could be a few things the part around the ignition for picking up the transponder or the ecu now I've replaced the ecu the clocks the central locking control box and the part around the ignition along with the clocks and I have no lights coming up on the dash other then the immobilsor light. the indercators don't work and none of the other lights around the van will work other then the head lights the radio is fine that's got power I'm just wondering what Type of work I'm gonna have to do too it as I'm starting to look towards scrapping it as its cost me over 2 grand and I'm sill putting money in too it

I had the same problem on my 2004 lwb 220 connect, it was the alternator wiring harness loom which had perished due to water ingress, the auto electrician showed me the wiring loom and you could literally break the wires just by pulling them.. Repair cost £120.00 inc vat harness from ford should have been £35.00 + vat but electrician made the loom on the job as he said the genuine ford replacement wasn't long enough to replace the damaged wires...Hope this helps.. I have got a multiple electrical failure on my Connect where I have lost wipers (completely), Windscreen washer, heater blower and both sides electric windows. The fuses are all OK. I have removed and refitted all relays in both fuseboards, I have removed the multi-connectors at the base of both door pillars and checked for signs of corrosion and have removed the main fuseboard from the chassis behind the glove box to check for loose connections and signs of moisture ingress. I have found nothing to suggest a cause and I am now struggling to find a likely cause for this multiple failure. Can anybody help?

My van has a strange overheating issue, when driving hard/ normal the temps are all fine, go up hill pulling hard and all is well, stuck in traffic all is well, BUT after a stint down the motorway, as you pull off into the slip road and lift off throttle, the temp gauge will rather quickly shoot nearly to the red, yet if you put clutch in and rev or start to pull away the temp needle will drop to normal operating temps pretty much instantly? any idea? ive checked top and bottom hose, both warm, not using water and engine doesn't seem to be running hot? thanks in advanve

1.8 tdi transit connect......heater light flashes then goes into limp mode then cuts out but starts back up then does it again

Answers

We had a problem with our 53plate transit connect, the heater light would flash then stop completely, usually when dropping a gear and over taking, switching the key off and back on would get it going again, this problem would always result in the van not starting the next day, and the only way we could get it to go was with easy start, after numerous no starts and a whole tin of easy start, we had the van tested for injectors and after replacing a F--ked injector the van has worked ok, We are just about to clock 250k in this van so can't complain Ian from Warwickshire

Red light on dash is flashing nothing else lights up when i turn key in ignition .my van has been refusing to start on several occsions but the dash always lit up.could this be an immobiliser problem.thanks for any advice on this problem

Answers

Any electrical issues such as red light flashing (immobiliser fault) but with any multi functional issues try this... Stop your vehicle apply handbrake.. right take out key from ignition wait for 5 seconds the re-insert key into ignition then turn the key 10-12 times constantly from position zero to ignition lights (DO NOT START) just turn the key and you will here central locking unlock and re-lock this is then when the turns have re-set the settings in the ECU... Try again and see if all returns to normal running... many times this can reset engine management light and other limp mode lights illuminated on the dash. HOWEVER this is not a problem solver this is purely a system reset to see if problem goes away or returns...Good Luck GARY from Merseyside

hi i have a 2008 transit connect tdci and when driving it between 1800-2000 rpm it jerks. if i drive the van hard so the van is driving above 2000 rpm no jerking. i have fitted new diesel filter and new egr inlet manifold and it still jerks between 1800 & 2000 rpm

Answers

I've got the same problem I think- if I drove it like a rally driver it'd probably be ok but to drive normally it does it- engine management light comes on occasionally and shows up an egr fault- I think it gets full of soot and needs changing. Have you got yours sorted? Carl from Oxfordshire

Hi I have just bought a transit connect 2003 tdci 200 runs and drives great and turbo kicks in in time but on 2 occasions ive had a cloud of white smoke behind me lasting for about 10 minutes. The first time it happened I was on motorway and put my foot down in 5th gear and revs were just over the 3000 mark I looked in the mirror and saw a cloud of white smoke behind me and second time it happened I got in van started it up pulled of fast in first gear with foot to the floor revs were about just over 3000 mark I pulled out fast to avoid traffic and accelerated to about 30 mph in first and second gear then I saw a cloud of white smoke behind me so drove up and down road for 10 mins until it went. when van is idle there is no smoke or when just driving normal there is no smoke just on these two occasions where there has been a big cloud of white smoke and there is no loss of power any help would be great thanks
