We are in the Alps, we are having a record cold spell and the diesel has gelled as it is so cold. How do I gain access to the diesel filter as I have been told to warm it with a hair dryer and it will hopefully start and get the fuel moving enough to warm it all so I can then put a stronger anti freezing additive in?

Ford Tourneo Connect 2010

Hi. I wonder if you could help please. I’m looking for information to find out if there are there any reports of faults found with the new shape Ford Tourneo connect Trend 8-seat vehicle? I can report myself being an owner of one of these cars/vans faults of water ingress within the inside of the car at both front seating areas and now three times an oil leak from the bottom of the engine. My engine happens to be the 110ps version not the 90ps version but I to think both engine blocks are the same. I shall wait your response, many thanks. (Trend version).

After driving my Ford Tourneo Connect for about 5 miles the Multi Function warning light comes on and there is a noticeable drop in power. If the ignition is switched off and on again it reverts to normal for a few more miles. There is also a slight leak from one of the injector spill pipes but have yet not been able to find a suitable seal for this here in Turkey.

I am driving a 2007 Ford Transit Connect and am wondering what capacity the diesel tank holds and how many miles are left in the tank once the diesel light comes on?

Answers

Hi Michael, first just to make clear to you, I own the new Ford Tourneo Connect Trend 8-seat version plated-2010. For the diesel tank, it holds 60lt when full as stated in my handbook. For distance to empty warning light, I think it’s 50 miles. I have only ever done this once but I do not to make a habit of it just incase. Hope this is of help - Steven Maloney from England

I am trying to locate fuse 72 (for a Ford Tourneo Connect) as I was told it was the fuse for internal lighting. It was said to be in a small fuse box under the passenger fuse box, bottom row, 3rd from left. I don’t seem to be able to find the small fuse box - can anyone help me please?

Answers

Hi Becky. Just to assure you, myself owns the new version Ford Tourneo Connect Trend 8 seat-2010 plate. Therefore, from here I have looked on the passenger side for you, there is a fuse box located behind the glove compartment box just remove the front glove box, and you will see the fuses on the left side. If you have, your vehicle handbook look at page 101. The glove box is simple to remove as it just clips into place at the bottom. Note though: I need not alarm you but be careful when removing the fuses, you are sure to remove the correct fuse, as you would not want to disturb the engine management, which I believe, is quite costly to have reset. My suggestion to you, if your vehicle is still under warranty, let Fords do it and if anything were to go wrong, it not be on your head but Ford’s and of course, you not risk losing the remainder of your warranty ok. Further suggestion: If a fuse has blown, it has to have blown for reason so really you need to find out why first to prevent damage or further damage. Oh, there is a white label showing the fuse symbols on the back of the glove box. Hope this is of help to you - Steven Maloney from England

Please can you help? The rear seats come in a block of three, I can fold down and fit it back to the driver seat but can you tell me does the seat of 2 (seats) fold completely back. I can fold it down in half but can’t find a lever to pull it right back.

Answers

Hi, I understand you have managed to fold down the top half of the two seat but can’t manage to completely fold it up towards the front seat. Well as myself owns the new version of the 8-seat Tourneo Connect 2010 plate, it’s to have at the back of the seat a webbing pulling trap, just pull the web strap and lift the seat at the same time, I hope this is of help to you. Good luck. If not come back, I will see if I can be of any further help ok - Steven Maloney from England

Ford Tourneo Connect 2004

Hi, I have the Ford Tourneo Connect deisel, the problem is that for the last two/three years, the battery light keeps coming on after a while, say 150 to 200 kilometers, then the car loses power and cuts out the engine. A few seconds later I turn the ignition on and it starts. I have replaced the alternator and the starter motor, dignosticic people have seen it and the local Ford dealer kept the car for four days but still they cannot find the reason why the battery light comes on. Yesterday the battery light came on, I lost power again. It started again but it is nerve racking and I am not comfortable driving it. The car is perfect for us. ANY IDEAS HOW TO FIX IT?

Answers

I had the same problem, not sure if you have solved it yet but I’’l tell you anyway! I nearly went down the road of buying a new alternator but I was lucky the bloke I spoke to told me that I needed to check the wire coming out of the alternator. Disconnect it carefully, remove the wire from the black casing. You will find one of the wires has a break in it. This break can be a few inches up from the connecter block. I found this straight away, repaired the problem and not had any fault since. This is one of the Connect’s biggest common faults - Dan Cheeky from England
