Hi. I have a Ford Focus 1.8 tdi 02 plate and it’s giving out cold air even when the car has warmed up. I think it`s the heater matrix, if it is that how much will it cost? (heating)

I had the timing belt changed on my 1.6 petrol 56 reg Ford Focus today. When I collected it from the garage the engine management light stayed on. I told the mechanic, he drove it around the block and it went out. It was fine driving home (the Focus seems to drive just fine). Later this evening I went for a drive and the management light stayed on all of the time. Any ideas please? Will it harm the engine to continue driving with it on? Thanks in advance. (1.6 Titanium)

Hi, I have a problem with my Ford Focus zetec tdci in that when I accelerate and the turbo kicks in it creates a hell of a lot of smoke. It doesn’t do it whilst idling or in high revs, just when I change gear. I’ve noticed it is worse after a motorway run as if it builds up and then when I pull away at a junction it really blows out....a lot. I haven’t noticed a lack in power other then when it does it when at speed and I accelerate in fourth the revs drop momentarily, even when driving at a constant speed of say 50, then accelerate to 60 and it happens. It seems to be getting worse. What could it be? Any ideas? Turbo? I would really like some ammo to go to the garage with as I have been ripped off in the past. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated. Cheers. (Zetec tdci)

I`m having a problem with my Ford Focus` engine running roughly and misfiring. My #1 spark plug keeps getting fuel soaked. I’ve changed the spark plugs, wire O2 sensors upstream/downstreams, coil pack and #1 injector. I’m not sure what else to do or where to go from here?

My Ford Focus makes a thud when changing gear from first to second. I`ve changed the rear gearbox mount but still no change and it`s getting really annoying now. It only happens when changing into second gear plus it`s when I let the clutch out. I`m suspecting maybe the drive shaft or clutch but don`t want to change something if it doesn’t need doing. I`ve been told it`s a common thing on these Focus` but can’t get to the bottom of this problem so any help would be a big help please? Thanks. (V-reg Ford Focus cl 2000 1.4 Zetec)

My Ford Focus` instrument cluster recently died - no speedo, revs or fuel tank although the lights on the dash were still working. I changed the fuse but no luck. A day later they started working again. Now the CD player keeps cutting on and off. Forums I have read mention replacing the instrument cluster. Is there anything else (potentially cheaper to repair) that it could be?

Please can someone help me? For nearly 3 months now my Ford Focus drives perfectly, then all of a sudden I can`t do more than 20mph and if I try my rev counter just revs really high but I don`t move any faster. Then the next day I drive it`s perfect again. I took it to the garage and they said I needed transmission fluid so I topped it up and it drove great for a week but then did the same again. Most people have said it`s the gear box filter that needs changing so I took it to a specialist auto tranmission garage who said don`t change the filter, change the gear box?

Hi, I have a Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec X reg. It has run perfectly for the seven months I have had it but this morning it started making a noise. I thought it was the brakes sticking but it only seems to do it when going round corners and when going under 25 mph. Any ideas?

I have a 2007 Ford Focus automatic. Suddenly I noticed a drop in speed, that is engine revolution will be high but poor movement. I went to a garage and they confirmed burnt oil on my gearbox. They changed it hoping it will work fine but I still have the same poor output. Some are saying it`s a bad ecu or bad solenoid. The gearbox has never worked as it used to, it will delay and jerk before it engages first gear and does not go above third gear. What can I do?

Hi. As I drive I can hear a whirring type sound coming from the front of my Ford Focus (sounds like it has something to do with the wheels). It is more pronounced as I go round bends. It also sounds like a rubbing sort of sound. Also as I turn left out of a junction I get a clunk from the front left side. Would anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Many thanks.
Sounds like your wheel baring, and the clunk sound is most likely to the stabilizing link arm. - Wesley Logsdon from England

My Ford Focus Zetec hatchback 09 plate has hard suspension resulting in a hard ride on the road. My wife has a heart problem and this hard ride is not good for her. The question I ask is can I solve the problem by changing the suspension springs to soften the ride or will this cause a safety problem for the car?

I have a Ford Focus 1.6 tdci with 80k of mostly motorway miles on the clock. I just had a big job of having to change all four injectors at £800. I would like an opinion as to whether this is a sign of things to come for a car as old and road worn as mine? The car is in good condition on the outside but do you think it would be best to cut my losses and sell before something else goes? Also is £800 a good price to get charged for the changing of four injectors? Thanks for any opinion and help.

I have a Ford Focus RS. Why is my fan running all of the time? The orange management light is on. The maf sensor was changed at Ford but the light came back on in two days and the fan is still running even when cold. The car stutters when cold but when up to temperature there`s no loss in power. Can anyone help? Cheers.
Take your Focus to the garage to replace the engine temp sensor. The fan will stop and operate properly. Finally, reset the engine control unit (to get orange engine management light off). - Vladek from Croatia (Hrvatska)

I have a 2000 Ford Focus SE that blows warm air out of the 2 driver side vents and cold air out of the 2 passenger side vents with the A/C on. This condition stays the same whether in re-circ or not. After about 15-20 minutes of driving the cold air distribution from passenger and driver side vents seems to even out and all 4 vents will then blow cold air. Any suggestions as to the cause of this problem please? Thank you. (4 door SE)

I went to work this morning and my Ford Focus started fine. Then I stopped for petrol and when I returned the car wouldn’t start. All dash lights seem to have power but my clock had reset itself and my radio had a strange lettering or code on it. When I turn the key nothing happens but my door locks click. If I hold the key turned to start I get a clicking sound from the fuse box in the glove compartment. Please can anybody help me as I am clueless about cars?
My advice would be to get the battery checked. Also check the connections and then take it from there. - Mohammed Yousuf from England

I am about to purchase a 2005 Ford Focus Gaia 1.6 hatchback and have been informed that the bluetooth phone setting on he radio / CD players are all inoperable. Can they be made to work correctly? (Gaia)
Remove the glove box, above where the glove box was there should be a silver box (Bluetooth module). Unbolt and lower it, it has Bluetooth marked on it. Unplug the wiring multiplug and leave disconnected for 30 seconds, a bit longer wont hurt, reconnect and check and all should be ok, then reassemble everything. Hope this works for you, it did on mine (07 sport). - Graham Wilkinson from Kent

Hi. I recently bought a 2001 Ford Focus. I am having problems with the speedo keep going to 0 and then coming back on again. The dials on the dash also take about 30 seconds to come on. I have spoken to a mechanic and he said water was getting in when it rains but he found no trace of any water. Could this be the vss? How much am I looking at to fix it? Thanks.
Yeah, it’s the speed sensor on gearbox. If you replace yourself you’re looking at £30 but it’s a bit of a tough job to do on your own... Wayne Thomas from England
No not speed sensor. Go to Ford and get the dash clocks replaced. This is a common fault and costs £99 plus vat. The speed sensor causes the vechicle to cut out and stall at any speed if faulty. I worked for Ford for 20 years. We do about 10 dash clocks a month on old Focus’. P.S. You need to reflash the pcm as the pats system is bulit in to the dash clocks mileage and can not be input so new clocks read O miles. Watchdog got invoved a few years ago and Ford agreed there’s a fault, so they offered to do replacements for a fixed dealer price. Don’t let them tell you any diffrent as some will charge for fitting and reprogramming, but it’s all in the cost of the replacement. - Nonono Karput from Cheshire

My Ford Focus has an ecu fault. My engine fan does not work, but I know I have a problem with speed limited mode. If I start the car when cold it revs to about 4000 for about 30 seconds. I then have to start the engine at least 6 times and warm the engine, otherwise I get speed limited mode and the car just crawls. Once the car is warm it starts okay. I`ve had three different garages do computer readouts with no fault code noted. Any ideas please? (2 litre petrol)

The window was left down on the passenger side of my Ford Focus and it rained and there was standing water on the passenger side. Ever since that happened the radio has stopped working and the car won`t always start when you try and turn the ignition over. What can the problem be?

I have a 2000 Ford Focus. I just had it at the mechanic`s today where he replaced my fuel filter and the crank sensor. While driving it home the round yellow light with the exclamation point came on and went right off, which it also did today. The temperature gauge stayed in the middle where it always does. I`m not sure what the problem is now. I took it in because, while sitting at red lights after driving my car for over an hour, it would periodically stall yet start right back up. Please can anybody help?

Both of the 12V accessory plugs have quit working on my Ford Focus. I suspect a blown fuse, but am not sure which fuse it is and I don’t want to pull every fuse to see if it`s blown. I’m told that it might be fuse #47, however when I look at the manual everything else that this fuse is responsible for seems to be working. Any ideas?

Last night I put £5 worth of petrol in my Ford Focus but, even though it showed movement on the analogue dial, the digital display showed that I had the same amount of fuel as when I went into the station. I drove for roughly 6 miles and the digital display was showing a decrease in fuel as normal. Can anyone explain please? (Titanium)
Check the fuel lines, can you smell petrol? If so would indicate a leak on the fuel side. I’m assuming your vehicle is petrol and not a diesel? - Mohammed Yousuf from England
Check your fuel pump on tank and also your floater is not working properly - Florencio from United States of America

I have just purchased a 2012 Ford Focus and it won`t start. I put a brand new battery in it but still nothing, it just barely will start to turn and then nothing. I thought the motor was seized but when I put a long bar on the crank it turns and although it`s very hard to turn it still moves. Is there something I`m missing?

I changed the fuel filter of my Ford Focus. It didn`t start after I changed it, so I tow pulled it. It is starting now and driving, but it has less performance. Could there still be air in the system and do I still have to bleed it? It`s really slow in first and second gear and won`t get to max speed. Can anyone help please? (1.6 TDCI 90hp)
Check your fuel pump on gas tank - Florencio from United States of America
Use your mouth to blow the fuel filter, as it may have a blockage from the manufacturer - Olufemi Ogunsakin from Nigeria

I have a Y reg Ford Focus 1.6. A few weeks ago out of the blue it failed to start. Then we realised that the fuel pump was broken so I put a new fuel pump into the car. Then the immobiliser was cutting in when I tried to start my car so I`ve sorted that problem and the car finally started. I thought the problem was over but it wasn`t. The car didn`t like it when it was going up or downhill and it kept stalling itself so we got that problem sorted. Now all electrical components are giving off 14v. I heard that this is too high and I need an auto electrician. The car starts up after about 10 seconds of turning it over with a struggle. It tries and when it does it will sit there on tickover al day, but as soon as you drive away or reverse after maybe a minute it stalls itself and there`s lack of power with the accelerator pedal. Does anyone know what this could possibly be? Since changing the fuel pump there has been problem after problem and I just want it sorted. I`ve heard many things that could be wrong, the ecu was one of them, then someone else said it could be my alternator overheating other components like the fuel pump. I`ve also heard that it could be some vacuum or something? Can anybody please offer any help as this is very urgent? (1.6 Zetec SE)
