Why does my Fiat Scudo van use a lot of diesel? I have had it for about one year and it was good on diesel but it just seems to use a lot of diesel now. Any ideas?

We have a Fiat Scudo diesel van and have a problem changing down in 2nd and 3rd gear where it catches the gear. We have had the clutch and fly wheel replaced because the clutch was on the floor but we still have the same problem with the gearbox. Has anyone any thoughts on what the problem could be?

Hi. My Fiat Scudo has started making an awful squealing noise from the power steering pump when it`s ticking over or on low revs. The noise seems to disappear for a while when the engine is warm or when I`m driving faster. Does anyone have any advice please?

Hi. I`ve got a diesel 1.9 Fiat Scudo van non turbo. At high revs blue smoke appears and it miss-fires a bit but then runs as sweet as on tick over. I have changed the fuel timing solenoid and disconnected the egr valve but this made no difference. Since this has started it had a small oil leak, but the oil leak is 100 times worse since this problem has started. Can anyone help? (1.9)

I have just bought a Fiat Scudo 1.9d on a 56 reg. I noticed the van runs at 70 degrees - is this normal? I have changed thermostat and it still runs at 70 degrees, please can anyone tell me if theirs is any different? Thanks.
Answers
I have a 2004 Fiat Scudo 2.0 JTD which I have owned from new and I can confirm that the normal running temperature is around 70 degrees. Idling for sometime in traffic on a warm day should make the temperature rise to about 90 degrees, at which point the cooling fan should cut in. Hope this helps - Mark Hubbard from Wiltshire

My Fiat Scudo struggles to start and cuts out, engine code is pz110, which is the air temp sensor, is this likely to be causing the car to do this?

My Fiat Scudo’s airbag seatbelt light flashes and bleeps on the small screen on start up. Can I disable the sound or make the command go away by removing any fuse? If so, how? Thanks.

My Fiat Scudo has lost 5th gear and it just makes a whirling noise when I put it in 5th. All other gears are fine. Does anyone know an easy fix before I shell out for a gearbox? (1.9d)

Where is the heater blower relay located on a 2002 Fiat Scudo? I have found from schematics that the relay is above drivers leg on the dash board but there are 4 relays: Blue, Green, Yellow and a Black one. Which one of these is the heater blower feed relay? (19D no abs, no climatic)

My indicator won’t work on the driver’s side at the back of my Fiat Scudo. I have checked the bulb and also for loose connections but everything seems fine - what should I check next? (1.6 Multijet)

I had a similar problem with my 1998 van. It turned out to be the actual light unit itself where the loom plugs onto. The row of tiny connectors were corroded, although couldn’t actually see it. I changed the light unit £45 from europarts Poole Dorset. Problem fixed - John Bufton from Dorset

I too have a problem with my heater for the last year. Having paid a fortune for the slide swith assembly, it still is not working. How difficult is it to now remove the heater motor? (2.0JTD)

The heater blower runs on high all the time and won’t slow down on lower speeds. Why so?
Answers
Sounds to me as if the resistor is faulty, I am sure that is located within the sliding switch assembly, beware though this is a cassette part and very expensive. It can only be obtained in one complete unit with all four lever controls. Had to change my own and now the heater motor has failed! Common Scudo problem I am afraid - Paul Wiltshire from England

Hi, I have got a Fiat Scudo van 2001 181,455 miles on clock, runs well but the problem I have got is the battery light stays on and the fan slider doesn’t work but everything else works. Why?
Answers
Your battery light is on because I would imagine the alternator is knackered. Your fans don’t work because the brushes in the fan motor are knackered too. It is a very common fault on these vans. I hope this helps - Richard Smith from Cornwall

Since new, my van is averaging 25mpg diesel. The book says it should do 42mpg. My mate says his Vivaro was the same but after 3000 miles got better. I have now done 6,000 miles and the mpg is no better. Will it improve or should I take it to the garage?
Answers
Got an ’08 plate from new now got 111,000 on clock and I consistently get 40 MPG. I have found the economy drops to around 33 MPG if doing over 70mph but have never had less than that. I have the 1.6 engine and economy has been consistent from day one - Geoffrey Iason from Moray (Elgin) and Nairn Shire

I have replaced my engine on the van and a lot of white smoke is coming out. Could it be the fuel pump?
