My 2003 1.6 Xsara Picasso keeps revving itself as if I've got too much foot on the accelerator, seems to do it when it's warm but it doesn't happen all the time so the garage is clueless. Also clutch pedal has just become squeaky, we have greased it inside but seems louder outside the car (had a new clutch 18 months ago). Any help would be appreciated

My 02 plate had exactly the same problem. Garage investigated. It could be one of 2 issues - a faulty sensor (there's loads on the forums about this) or like mine a faulty thermostat on radiator. Can't say how much it was as mine was covered under warranty but garage had it for 2 days! mostly as by time they found out it was thermostat and not the sensor they'd damaged the radiator and had to replace that too. Hi, My Citroen Xsara Picasso, unleaded, 2005 plate, has an intermittent fault. When the engine is on the warning 'RH FT DOOR OPEN' comes on, even though it is shut. This means I can't use the central locking because the car always thinks I've left a door open. It beeps intermittently and the inside lights come on when driving. I've been told it is not the lock sensor as this was replaced, but didn't solve the problem. They've told me it is the control module. This costs hundreds to replace. Does anyone know anything else it could be, or what I could try? Thanks!

I have just changed the dual mass flywheel and clutch, all back together and connected back up but when I go to start it, it turns over but won't start up and has this loud puffing sound coming out of the engine like someone blowing down a tube to get air out and it won't start up. It's a 1.6 hdi 55 plate, fly wheel went so I changed it with a mechanic friend and starting up and this noise is here and it won't start. I have called out 3 mobile mechanics and they have no idea. Can anyone please help with what it could be? Thanks

Carbon monoxide is odourless and can be lethal - it can also cause you to lose conciousness whilst driving. Obviously this could result in a fatal accident. I should have it checked out to be on the safe side - if it's not that, then perhaps an eye test? Doug from Bristol

My Citroen 03 was driving great after 2 weeks of filling up with petrol and driving again. Then the other day I re-fueled the car and it wouldn`t start, just made a clicking noise, my radio then stopped working too, I had to get someone to push me so I could bump start it. It did fine and was fine after that ie switching car on in a morning and after dropping daughter at school. So I re-fueled again yesterday and the same happened, put petrol in and NO start after, yet again had to bump it, but this time the stereo came back on. Help anyone please?

Hi, my exhaust cover under the car had come loose, just needed a nut and bolt to fix. So I did this but now when driving every few minutes it sounds like a loud tapping under my car, like I'm dragging a huge piece of metal and worse when steering left and sometimes, not all the time, when I'm braking also it sounds like something moving about under my feet when the knocking noise starts. Don't see anything under the car, anyone any ideas please?

I have a 54 plate Citroen xsara picasso. Just started the car after it had been parked for about an hour and when it came on the display had the hand brake ligh on(even once it was taken off) the seat belt lights on (even though we had them on) the engine light on, the interior lights came on with the engine running and all doors closed. In addition the speedo (digital) was on but just had 2 lines running through it and did not change even when we were moving. There was also bothing being shown on the fuel gauge even though we had filled up (roughly half a tank) earlier that morning. Also when the car is switched off the lights stay on for around 4-5 mins before they switch off. The lightson the outside of the car (side lights, indicators etc) are working as normal. any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi. My engine light keeps coming on every 2 weeks or so. I have had a mechanic look at it and he says it is because of the sensor in the exhaust, my exhaust also keeps knocking. Again the mechanic looked, first of all he told me one of the brackets on the exhaust was twisted so he changed it. It continued to knock and he has now told me it is because the towbar brackets underneath are too close to the exhaust so the tow bar needs to be removed. Any ideas what the issue could actually be and would this be why the engine fault light keeps coming on? Apart from this the car starts and runs fine.

Right I had this problem on a 307 I brought from a garage within two weeks the gear box and clutch went the garage refused to repair it so I got in touch with trading standards even if the car is 100 years old you've still bought it from that garage there is a law that states that if a product is not fit for purpose the garage must repair it if they refuse you can take them to a small claims court if they repair it make sure they use new parts the garage I used tried to fob me off by repairing it within a day it packed up again so threatening them with court they sorted it out but please check the trading standards web page or call them they can advise you ofwhat you can do as I hate people being ripped off matt from Warwickshire

Hello fellow Picasso owners, On my second one, and both the first (a 53 plate) and the 'new' one (03 plate) have the same problem, which is that there is an intermittent loud vibration coming from around the oval trim surrounding the speedo etc. At first I thought it was this trim causing the problem, so removed it and went for a test drive, but problem still there. I have removed the digital read-out panel and had a good look behind with torch and mirror but cannot find anything which looks likely to cause this. Anyone else had the problem, and did you find a cure? Thanks

Hi guys and gals we have had our Piccaso automatic for over 2 years now and it's perfect, hasn`t cost more than a couple of hundred quid in that time, it's on an 03 plate. Keep thinking of upgrading but why when it goes so well? I have one tiny problem and this is a long way round about it, but my wife now is the main driver as I had a stroke and the doc's stopped me driving. My wife`s problem is that we have spot lights in the bumper but she can't find how or where to switch them on. Can anyone help her find this mystery switch? Send me an email at sudbury1@hotmail.co.uk with the answer please, it's on an 03 plate

Answer this question

Cindy, Devon

Citroen Xsara Picasso

Hello, I replaced the bulbs on my dashboard for my Citroen Xsara Picasso (2001) car last night. I did this as the MPH number was extremely faint. I bought my bulbs and followed the You Tube video on how to do this. I decided to replace 10 of the main bulbs in the centre of the panel, but did not touch any of the bulbs on the straight line above. MPH now shows up, however, even though they are all illuminated, I don't think that they are as bright as they used to be - any ideas please? Also, before I tried to do this, the seatbelt picture on the dashboard had always been lit up (since I got the car), but my garage told me that the seatbelts were ok, so have just left it like that. The thing that I noticed today though is that when I start up my car and drive it, the seatbelt picture is no longer illuminated, instead the air bag one is now (in orange, not red). I think that the seatbelt and air bag bulbs are in the long line, as mentioned above. Is there a possibility that I have perhaps knocked them by mistake - it just seems strange that it has happened now, the morning after replacing some of the bulbs? Any ideas please?
