Hello fellow Picasso owners, On my second one, and both the first (a 53 plate) and the 'new' one (03 plate) have the same problem, which is that there is an intermittent loud vibration coming from around the oval trim surrounding the speedo etc. At first I thought it was this trim causing the problem, so removed it and went for a test drive, but problem still there. I have removed the digital read-out panel and had a good look behind with torch and mirror but cannot find anything which looks likely to cause this. Anyone else had the problem, and did you find a cure? Thanks

Hi guys and gals we have had our Piccaso automatic for over 2 years now and it's perfect, hasn`t cost more than a couple of hundred quid in that time, it's on an 03 plate. Keep thinking of upgrading but why when it goes so well? I have one tiny problem and this is a long way round about it, but my wife now is the main driver as I had a stroke and the doc's stopped me driving. My wife`s problem is that we have spot lights in the bumper but she can't find how or where to switch them on. Can anyone help her find this mystery switch? Send me an email at sudbury1@hotmail.co.uk with the answer please, it's on an 03 plate

Hello, I replaced the bulbs on my dashboard for my Citroen Xsara Picasso (2001) car last night. I did this as the MPH number was extremely faint. I bought my bulbs and followed the You Tube video on how to do this. I decided to replace 10 of the main bulbs in the centre of the panel, but did not touch any of the bulbs on the straight line above. MPH now shows up, however, even though they are all illuminated, I don't think that they are as bright as they used to be - any ideas please? Also, before I tried to do this, the seatbelt picture on the dashboard had always been lit up (since I got the car), but my garage told me that the seatbelts were ok, so have just left it like that. The thing that I noticed today though is that when I start up my car and drive it, the seatbelt picture is no longer illuminated, instead the air bag one is now (in orange, not red). I think that the seatbelt and air bag bulbs are in the long line, as mentioned above. Is there a possibility that I have perhaps knocked them by mistake - it just seems strange that it has happened now, the morning after replacing some of the bulbs? Any ideas please?

Hi, for the last two days my picasso has occasionally made a loud beep when turning the ignition on. No warning lights stay on. Yesterday when coming to start the car It unlocked fine but when trying to start it, it was totally dead. Key fob wouldn't work or anything. After a few minutes it made a loud beep and everything worked. Today it again made the beep on turning the ignition on, but the car worked fine. Some hours later when wanting to use the car, it unlocked using the key fob, but on turning the ignition on the lights at first came on then the car went dead again. Can anyone help please?

My wife was driving this morning when the car beeped and displayed engine fault ,from that time on the car lost power and would only go at 16mph .she limped home and I got a mechanic out to look at it it ran a computer diagnostic which told him the throttle was not aligned. He cleaned the sensor which seemed to cure the problem I am worried that this is only a quick fix and would like any advice as to what I should be looking at before taking it to dealership. I have read on the forum about soldering the connected in the glove box but any advice would be greatly appreciated. The mechanic also called the Citroen re the sensor but the said that they never had to order that particular sensor. Help please as my wife wants me to buy a new car I cannot afford that, any ideas!!!!!!!!!!It's a petrol 55 plate 1.6 but theirs no sub catogery for my car Thanks in advance

Sorry mate - no answer, but exactly the same problem. Even the bit about the wife! Made us laugh when I read your question out loud. I'm pretty clueless car wise. Car will start - just - with plenty of revving. Had a look at the oil level because car sounds 'dry' when it can be started. Oil level indicator has oil all the way up but on closer inspection, and from looking in the oil reservoir itself, oil looks 'sludgy'. Am I hallucinating an explanation for my problem? Any help appreciated. Neil from North Lanarkshire

Unsure if it affects it but the battery light keeps going on for me too , especially when I adjust the drivers seat or go in the tray under it. There is a cable under the seat that seems to affect this light. Mine is going on and off a lot and fiddling with it makes it go off sometimes. Might be something to look into. Same happening to my picasso, and although I cannot put my finger on what causes this, it seems to happen during very cold/snow weather. It may be an earthing problem, my picasso is 10yrs old; is this same with you? Also, seems to have affected breaking lights -causing them to flicker. Have you been able to resolve this? Regards, Philip Tausney from City of Glasgow

I have had it on a Citroen computer and a bad brake light switch is showing this is getting replaced mechanic is hoping this cures not switching off brian from West Yorkshire

Replacement of brake switch light appears to cure it, apparently when stuck it feeds power back into ignition brian from West Yorkshire

Hi. I have a 2000 Xsara Picasso. Recently it has started to lose power intermittently. It starts and idles with no problem at all and can go days without the fault, then for no reason it feels like it's holding back and wants to stutter. If you change gear or take your foot off the gas it normally stops the stutter, but again this is not every time. I found this mainly when accelerating in third gear and up and it's worse when going up hill. Once your speed is constant the problem stops. It doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold and the problem seems to be getting worse. I had it at the garage and it didn't do it for them (typically). There are no fault codes registering on the computer at all and no management light coming on. I had it serviced as well as changing the fuel pump and it still has the same problem. My garage are stumped as to what it could be. Any ideas greatly welcome.

Answers

get the garage to check that the vacuum pump is working properly this can be tested by spraying wd40 into the pump by removing the hose. spray it in when engine is running. replace pipe and test, If this fixes the fault you will need to replace the vacuum pump Loraine V from Oxfordshire
