Can anyone tell me where the fuse is for the back window wiper motor on my Citroen Xsara, as I can’t get to it and can’t get the water to come out of front and back wipers? Thanks.

Can anyone help please? Me and my husband recently bought a Citroen Xsara and we found that the blowers work but don’t blow out any warm air. We have also noticed that the thermostat does not move even though the engine gets hot. I`ve looked on another forum that it could be something to do with air in the radiator but we have bled it and still nothing changes. We have also run the car so that the fan kicks in so we know the engine is hot but still the gauge does not move. Has anyone else got any suggestions? Also the central locking has a problem whereby the driver`s door doesn’t seem to be on the circuit at all and will only unlock that door when unlocked from the driver`s side. Then if it`s unlocked by the passenger`s side it seems to lock then unlock straight away and when you try again it locks the passenger side but leaves the back doors open. Please help?

My Citroen Xsara rubs it`s back wheel when going round corners or when weight is put in the back. Why is this?
My wife’s had the same problem. Bushes in rear axle. Ended up getting good second hand one from breakers. Been ok ever since about 3 years now - Mike Richards from England

The central locking on my Citroen Xsara 2001 won`t work, even turning the key in the locks, it seems to lock and then unlock immediately. Also the driver`s auto window won’t go up or down and the left indicator won’t work. I put a new battery in the key fob. Are all electricals connected? Thanks for your help.
It’s one wire that runs into the driver’s door. If you open the driver’s door and unscrew the loom from the door and pull the rubber back you should see the wire has split. I just used a small electricle block and connected them back. - Mike from Lancashire

My Citroen Xsara`s key fob is not working. I`ve done all of the resets as online. When I sit in the car and press buttons on the fob I can hear a click coming from the fuse box next to the steering wheel. The fuel gauge reads full one minute then goes to halfway, a few days later it goes back to full. Now the orange light has come on and I have only done 236 miles on a full tank, so I put in £20 fuel and it went back to 3/4 of a tank ...so frustrating. Can anyone help?

Is the clutch pedal on the Citroen Xsara estate controlled by a spring or hydraulics? Also can someone tell me how to fix it as it doesn’t spring back up when changing gear? Thank you. (Estate)
Your clutch is ran by a cable, which is auto adjust, you will have to replace the cable or try and get a manual adjust one - Johnboy from Warwickshire

Hi, the boot on my Citroen Xsara will not open, it makes a noise when I press the button on the key fob but the boot will not open. Please can you help?
Press down on the boot lid just above the lock. Hey presto it opens - Kris Palmer from Oxfordshire
May be a central locking fault my Xsara suffers it too. Try sitting in car and operating the central locking via the drivers door switch, on and off a couple of times, check if boot opens. Mine has moved on from this, so second trick is to open the drivers door and operate the key fob lock, (not unlock) button, then check the boot - David May from Derbyshire

I have a Citroen Xsara and the stop sign shows on the dashboard with the warning bleep when I drive for a short distance in the morning, then it disappears. Recently heavy white smoke started coming out with an engine miss. Then it becomes okay after a short time of running the engine. What could the problem be?

Hi there. I took my Citroen Xsara shoppin, everything was okay. I got home and went to start the car again but it would not start and all the gauges and dash lights were going wild. I thought the battery could be the problem so I charged it but the same thing happened, so I bought a brand new battery. Now it`s turning over okay and all the dash lights and gauges are all okay but it still will not start. Can anyone help please?

I bought this Citroen Xsara from a friend`s uncle and it has only got 21,000 miles on the clock. I am worried it will cost me too much in petrol to run. I filled it up £60 full tank, the petrol gauge went down to halfway and I had only just done 100 miles. The gauge has now gone back to the top again. Is this normal? I thought petrol gauges just went from full to empty, not halfway and then back up? How many miles on average should a full tank do?
No worries, the fuel tank sensors are iffy at best. I have had two in my Xsara Estate and they both have done exactly the same, with, like yourself, half a tank variation in readings. - Baz from Cornwall

Hello, I bought a Citroen Xsara recently and I do not have the original 22RC 465/35 radio code. If someone would tell me how to find the code, I would be very grateful? Thank you.
Go on this site -http://forum.legija.net/forumdisplay.php/68-Free-Car-radio-unlock-codes, first request free. Take out your radio and make a note of all the numbers on it, even those stamped on the side and post them. It takes about 3 hours for a reply, I read few pages first to get the jist of what was required. - Brazilnut from England

Can anyone please tell me where the pollen filter is located in my Citroen Xsara and how to replace it?Thank you. (Desire 1.4i)
Your pollen filter is located under the passenger side dashboard. There is a flap of carpet like material held on by a couple of push studs, you will then see the filter housing. Slide the bottom cover off and you should be able to pull the filter out. - Baz from Cornwall

I`ve had my Citroen Xsara for 4 years, bought it without a catalytic converter. It ran well until recently. It`s constantly revving about 2000+ rpm in traffic and when slowing down or taking my foot off the accelerator it starts searching and jerking. I had it three times at the Citroen agent for hours on the computer and every time with a different problem. I decided to take it elsewhere and it cost me for changing the heat sensor, then the airflow sensor on the throttle body and then the TPS (throttle position sensor) underneath the throttle body. I still have the problem and R6000 later. It also runs very lean. It is very difficult to describe exactly what it`s doing unless driving it. So if anybody has any idea what can be wrong let me know please? Citroen’s mechanics in Port Elizabeth, South Africa are of no help and a bunch of fitters not mechanics. (Xsara vts coupe 2L)

The car starts okay following this but it obviously means something. I`ve had the car 6 years now and never heard this before. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have a 2004 Citroen Xsara VTS that leaks fluid (oil?) from the dashboard headlight adjuster switch. This only happens when the headlight height adjuster is operated. I`m just wondering if this is a common problem or if anyone would have a fix for this issue, before I delve into the dashboard? (VTS)

I have a Citroen Xsara and the pipes coming from the heater in the bulk head have blown off and water has burst out everywhere. Have I damaged my engine? When I try and push the pipes back on the clip is not working. What could be causing them to blow back off? Thanks. (1.4)
Sounds like excess pressure in the cooling system, you might have a blown headgasket. If all the hoses are rock hard when the engines running then i would say thats the problem - Ron Harris from Bedfordshire

I need a car seat in my Citroen Xsara for my grandson who is 18 months old. All the seats I’ve tried fall sideways, it seems the stalk on the buckle is too long and doesn’t allow the belt to tighten properly. Has anyone else had this problem or can recommend a seat that will fit securely? Thanks. (Estate)
I have a 2001 Xsara and have found that Britax car seats are the best fit for my 1&2 yr olds. Although when facing backwards there is not a great deal of leg room but as I say, both the seats fit safely - Stuart Pearson from Yorkshire

Hi. My dad has a problem with his Citroen Xsara`s heaters inside. There is no light, nor does the heater work at all, it doesn`t turn on or blow any air out at all. I`ve checked the fuses. Does anyone have any ideas please?
The heater motor is under the glove box and is very easy to change. Undo four screws and the motor will come out. They are only 15 quid in scraps. - Jimmyboy from Lanarkshire

My Citroen Xsara`s left side indicator keeps coming on randomly. It only stops when I`m holding the stalk. Any ideas what`s causing this and is it difficult to fix? I see a couple of other people have had this problem but I can’t seem to find any answers (Automatic)

Hi, I need ideas please. I have recently bought my Citroen Xsara LX 1.4. It starts fine but when the temperature gauge reaches 90 the stop light comes on and the gauge drops to 0. It then starts to misfire and revs up and down by itself. To keep it running I have to over rev it. There is a fault code P0115 which is engine coolant circuit malfunction, but the fan works and the thermostat has been replaced. Does anybody have any ideas? (LX 8v)
Hi Michael. Firstly I think your thermostat is on the blink, which is not a big, or expensive job. However, make sure you get the right thermostat as Citroen have several with different opening temps. Secondly, the revving up and down suggests to me that the earth lead is either broken or has come loose! Again not a big, or expensive job. You will find it between the engine block and the battery. Also, if the thermostat is ok, there is a temperature sensor that could be faulty. It is located above the thermostat housing on the right. - Bill Laird from County Down

Has anybody reconditioned the back axle on a Citroen Xsara Estate LX HDI 2OO0cc 2OO3 Reg? Feedback would be appreciated if so and how difficult is it?
I had to change my back axle on Citroen Xsara estate, as rear trailer arm bushes gone, cost me £95 for 2002 rear axle, from the scrap yard, it was rear discs, this was advertised on Ebay, checked car it came off that it had not rubbed wheel arches, and asked if it was sound twice. Local Citroen mechanic, put it on in 3 hours with help from another chap charged me £95 - Greg Burrows from England

My Citroen Xsara`s digital speedometer is 21mph out. How has this happened and how can I reset it? I recently took it to a garage to have a new bulb fitted, could this be why?
Try turning ignition on then disconect battery and reconnect with ignition left on, you may need to do a couple of times. This resets the speedo - Dave from Wiltshire

Citroen Xsara: Problem with fuel guage. When I fill up it still stops on same spot. Few days later registers full. But comes down slowly then when switch engine off then comes down to zero. And temp guage registers only 45 and should be 90. Have put a new sender in engine, still same. Don’t know whether the fan will come on with the gauge not working right.

Hello. I am having trouble with my Citroen Xsara. If I don’t use it every day the battery goes flat. It has had a new battery but it`s still the same. I have just come home from my hols and I charged the battery up but now nothing works at all, no ignition, no lights, no hazards, no horn, nothing at all. Please can anyone help me?
I reckon you have a leak to some small light in the boot, under the bonnet or some such place. Perhaps the cigarette lighter. That juice is going somewhere at quite a rate. I wonder if it is getting charged up properly when the engine is running; can you be sure all is well in that area? Paul Stickley from Hampshire
Hi Jason, you can try to fix additional earth cable from +ve battery to any one screw at cylinder head and another one screw at car body (most properly on one of screw at absorber mounting.) For better response, use good cable or bigger - Moc Ahmad from Malaysia
