Answer this question

Martyn Kerr, Surrey

Citroen Dispatch

Had a strange problem for while, in as much as my headlights come on sometimes. Also my n/s indicators sometimes flash quickly. Today I was tooted and didn't realise why, but when I checked, I found that my rear n/s lighting cluster has stopped working. Everything. I wondered if there is a fuse that has blown, but can't seem to find anything in my owners handbook.

Answers

Martyn, sounds like a wiring connection issue at first.. Cittys are renowned for them. Less likely to be a fuse because a fuse will protect a certain circuit and on Cittys as most other vehicles, the headlight fuses are different to indicator ones.... You are having issues with a number of components.. headlights, indicators, brake lights... So, it's a painstaking task but check firstly the wiring connection plug at the rear cluster for clean and strong contacts.. they are common fail points.. then check the earthing connections.. more common fail points.. get to the relays and check their security and connections.. to establish which is indicator related switch hazards on and pull a relay at a time until hazards stop.. clean contacts and if necessary replace relay (indicators flashing quickly is normally a sign that a bulb has failed, but could also occur when relay fails or if poor connections).. I am sure you'll find the problem while doing this and it won't cost you an arm and leg. R Evans from Caerphilly

Hi.. My central locking wont work all the time.. works more to unlock than lock.. have put a new battery in fob already..

Answers

You're more likely to have an issue with the contacts in the door locking.. the bit that detects the door being properly closed. If worn or defective then the system cannot properly detect all doors closed and will unlock. Unfortunately the door sensors are built into the door locking mechanism.. so try eliminating each door as a potential problem.. close all but one door.. then use a screwdriver to shut the lock mechanism in the open door manually and hold it firmly closed using a screwdriver then pushing the lock button. go through all doors one at a time and when the van locks properly while you're holding a latch shut firmly.. it is likely that this may be the faulty mechanism....after that.. it is possible that you may have faulty or damaged/loose wiring. steve freeman, East Sussex

please can you tell me if it is possible to adjust my headlights to be able to drive in europe

Answers

Steve, no you can't ADJUST them due to the vee shaped angle in the beam deflection. What is usual is to apply beam deflector stickers to the headlamp lens (you can buy them at car accessory shops or on fleabay for less than a fiver). You can leave them of for UK MOT However, you can get replacement headlamps which will reverse the direction of the beam deflection, as fitted to Euro vehicles.. but if it is only for a trip, it is not financially worthwhile, plus, you'll not pass UK MOT with euro headlamps, again because of beam deflection. If you want to change the headlamps, there are four variants possible for each lamp (L&R) depending on your build having done a lot of travelling in France, many people do not bother with any mods for a few trips. (we are out there three times a year in our relay and don't even bother with beam deflector stickers.. and have driven at night but never been pulled over (tempting fate.. I'll have to get some now) R Evans from Caerphilly

My heater fan wont turn off triennial another fan still same any ideas regards adgeboy

Answers

Hi Sykes... sounds more like an electrical issue that the fan itself.. which IS working.. you may have a short in the wiring to or from the heater switch, or there may be fault IN the switch assembly R Evans from Caerphilly

The new fan you tried.. did it come with its own control module of did you use the one off your van?? Control module or connections to that may be playing games.. Anyway, just sent u e-mail that may help with parts R Evans from Caerphilly

Hi windscreen wipers corroded up and blew the Fuse on the M1 , i stuck a bigger fuse in and blew somthing else , only have fast wipe , oiled the wipers but need to find what i'v blown , what and where is it . Thanks 2.0 hdi 2009

Answers

Have you got the wipers sorted? You should disassemble the ball and socket joints, clean them out and apply lithium based or white grease in the sockets and reassemble.. not use WD40 which will evaporate and leave little or no lubrication after a short while.. it is penetrating oil.. very thin and used to release stuck joints not for lubing them long term. If you now only have fast wipe you may have damaged the motor.. part No 6405-GF. R Evans from Caerphilly

Despach 2.0 2009 . Fan heater only works on 3 Fast , wich has stoped the aircon from working .....what part do i need or can it be fixed ? thanks

Answers

Filbert, your problem can be fixed... and you can source the parts and fit yourself with not too much difficulty. On Dispatch WITHOUT aircon there is a resistor that controls the fan speed.. change that and it's fine.. but you have aircon model which has a further control module. either part could be the cause.. resistor or the control module. On yours, the resistor is part number 6450-XE and the control module is 6441-W9 on earlier vans and 6441-CE on later models. To get to these parts you remove all the plastic covers below the steering wheel to expose the components. When you get the blower exposed and the two electrical connectors unclipped, there are two small bolts, bottom left and bottom right of the blower that fix it in place.. remove these and pull the blower downwards to remove. Fleabay will take £30 for the resistor but the control module may prove more difficult to find, though not impossible. R Evans from Caerphilly

Hi there, I was wondering if you could help answer a question for me. I have bought a second hand citroen dispatch (my second as I love the 2.0l HDI engine) I seem to have a problem with the permanent live to the audio system and the interior light. I've used a multi meter to check if there is power and there is none as a permanent live. Any ideas on how to solve the issue or any clue as to how I can get to the permanent live cable myself?? Answer this question

John, Durham

Citroen Dispatch

Hi could you please tell me the location of number 1 lambda sensor

Answers

John, there is only one lambda sensor. If your diesel engine is this TURBO DIESEL DV6UC 1560 4 CYL D TB ECH DR type then you need a 22mm slitted socket to remove it,, Citroen special tool that you could get.. tool number 4386-T.. not financially worthwhile to buy for one job !!. If your engine type fits one of these.. DW10CD PEF 94KW DTR 1997 DIES or DW10CE PEF 72KW DTR 1997 DIES or DW10CTED4 PEF TURBO DIESEL then you can do it yourself. The sensors are located at the front of the exhaust pipe near where they come away from the engine.. if you have a 4-poster.. raise the vehicle and look for the flexible part of the front of the exhaust.. the front part of that will go upwards towards the top of the engine.. the sensor is located in that area. Beware.. changing the sensor... because of the hot-cold-hot-cold operation, they can be easy to break and if you have a fauly caused by it, you'll need to get the fault code cleared from the ECU.
