My next door neighbour has an 08 Dispatch. He's just told me that since the van went in for an MoT, the odometer reading has gone crazy, rocketing from 60,000 to 120,000+ miles. Sounds like something was disturbed during the MoT. Is this likely to be a sensor connection problem or has the speedo-head coincidentally developed a fault. What's a new speedo cost ?.

Answers

The odometer has probably been changed from miles to kilometers. It can be adjusted between both by the controls on the radio if you go through the options. I think it's because it is a french car the auto default is set to kilometers and is changed to miles for the GB market. ezra from Cardiff

Many thanks Ezra from Cardiff for your reply, that was indeed the correct answer. My neighbour told me that he has since taken the van to a Citroen dealer, who did something with the controls in the area of the radio and rectified the problem. The Citroen man said that all the settings were wrong, the suspicion being that the mechanic at the 'we service all makes' local garage wanted some music while he worked, fiddled with the controls not knowing what he was doing and in the process screwed up the odometer. Strangely, the actual speed indication was still correct in mph. On returning to the original garage where the fault had appeared to complain about it, they denied all knowledge of it and said it couldn't possibly have happened there. Hmmmm. Cheers. Can anyone help? I have a 2009 Citroën Dispatch van. The rear passenger indicator is not working. After changing the bulb, it appears the blue indicator wire is dead. Does anyone know if the fuses for these are run separate as this is all I am hoping it could be. The wires haven't been disturbed to break the loom. Also where is the fuse located in the box under the steering wheel or under the bonnet? Thanks for any help available

i had the same problem, turned out to be the egr valve that was knackered, blocked it off with a blanking plate and it went like a rocket again. you can replace it but its not a cheap part rich from Isle of Anglesey

I had a similar problem and after changing the egr valve the power loss remained the same. The problem, as it turned out, was the turbo being starved of Oil. Ended up refurbishing the turbo as well as changing two filters. One located in the oil sump and the other much smaller one (most important!) in the oil feed line to the turbo. Not changing the latter filter cost the garage in time and money because after having it back for one afternoon the turbo blew again! Since then Happy Days!! T marden from Redcar and Cleveland

My van does a knocking noise from the front and i found it was when the widscreen wipers dont return fully to their off position and you can see them moving slightly, its when my screen isnt wet enough i think. so that might be the knocking noise you can hear. Ady from Lincolnshire

Hi' for sometime now, my headlights have started to come on on there own whilst driving! The headlight indicator light on the dash comes up too? you have to turn the headlight switch on and then turn it off to make it go away? Just last week on a journey from Norwich to Southend On Sea, it happened at least 12 time? Really annoying! Any idea what the cause is and is it easy to repair and how expensive? Probably a faulty compressor. I had the same problem on a dispatch with 32000 miles. My van would not raise or lower. I tried every avenue to try and repair it but I ended up having to get a new compressor through the dealer. It cost me £1100.00 Neil from County Down

Hi I have been trying to sort out my air suspenstion as it cost £200 every time the air bag packed up or compressor or a little bit of dirt got caught in a seal . The best way to fix it for goos is put it back on to springs total cost £175.00 straight replacement. Remove bolt out of bottom from shock absorbers allows axel to lower, but suport axle as it would be held by brake rubber pipe. turn air bag ( baynet fiting) place rubber cap in top of spring and place in postion. Repeat on other side and replace bolts job done No more problems. The air suspension in these vans are rubbish and they should be sued. Springs are in Fait and Peugeot vans and Toyota now all the same van . never buy Citreon again all electrics are full of faults its just never ending. good luck john marshall from Durham
